That's quite a cool idea, although I disagree that the Doctor fancied Grace. He was fond of her but I don't see any evidence to show that he fancied her.
Okay - maybe 'fancying' wasn;t a good word, but I can't imagine previous incarnations (McCoy, Pertwee etc) enjoying several snogs with a companion.

McGann's Doctor was the first to do this, and I was suggesting that maybe, if the Time Lords are aware that a regeneration is imminent, they can influence the outcome, for better or worse.

If they believed McCoy's doctor had allowed the 'essence' if the Master to escape by not being vigilant, they might have decided to inflict the newly regenerated Doctor with the inconvenience of being half-human, with all the frailties (including emotional involvement with Grace)that are involved.

If we DID get a McGann mini-series with this premise, it would be fascinating to see this hybrid incarnation almost battling against his own feelings at times - torn both ways. This duality of his nature could be interesting.

This is ridiculous. The people who refuse to watch black-and-white movies are the sort of people who don't like watching old films full stop. Black-and-white has been used for modern films and many old black-and-white films have had some remastering.

I really hope society doesn't go this way because they will be missing out on some fantastic pieces of cinema.
The Artist, anyone?
I seem to recall it scooped several Academy Awards too.

Me, I adore watching black and white films. And foreign films with subtitles. People who 'don't like watching black & white films' do not know what they are missing IMO.

Also Joss Whedon's Much Ado about Nothing, and Schindler's List.

Oh, it was all very tame. Without wanting to sound like a voyeur, I did a quick rewatch and it's very clear that he's still 'the innocent' rather than dominating or seducing her. I don't think he's attributing any sexual feelings to it.

Yes, the final scene is shot a bit like a Hollywood romance but maybe at that point the show needed a change. The reason why previous incarnations didn't get any snogging scenes was, well, they didn't cast romantic leads. Even Peter Davison looked a bit Blue Peter-ish. McGann was the first 'romantic lead' type that they cast and so it made sense that there would be some romance.

Absolutely, I remember someone telling me years ago in the early days of colour TV that TV stations should not be allowed to show black and white films any more as he was paying extra for a colour TV licence!
He wouldn't back down on this despite my assertion that many of the best films ever made were made in black and white.
Unbelievable!
Personally if a film's good enough, I completely forget that it's in black and white after a very few minutes.

Personally, I think TV stations should not be allowed to show SD material any more. After all, I pay extra for HD... oh wait! Nevermind.

I've just had a thought that might turn the idea on it's head. If the rumours of mcgann filming a couple of Easter specials are true, who you be happy buying an upscaled version of the movie as an extra of a blu-Ray that has night of the doctor and these rumoured specials?....

Hmmm Wile showing B&W, SD and 4:3 material and any combination of them is a necessity for older content, I always like watching it upscaled on a HD channel, so its the best quality broadcast it can be!

There have of course been more than 13 years of McGann adventures since the TV Movie (in the audio stories he has been making for Big Finish since 2000, which gives us the list of companions McGann named just before regenerating in the Night of the Doctor). Those McGann adventures rarely, if ever, reference the half-human bit, so it is most unlikely that any further TV stuff for him would jump back to the TVM set-up. Not that I expect any more TV stuff for the Eighth Doctor anyway, sadly.

I sincerely doubt this.

Though it should be noted that Steve Roberts of the restoration team posted on GB that it's upscaled standard definition, as opposed to actual 1080p- the latter being possible to do but would require all the visual effects to be done again in the same vain as Star Trek TNG, this being not cost effective at all- and he didn't believe they had commissioned new extras, meaning the extras on this release are highly likely to be the same as on the Revisitations Volume 1 DVD release.

Not really worth your £19.99, all in all.

By the way, there are rumours that the original film elements were destroyed in a fire at a Universal Studios vault in America some years ago. We know there was a fire, we don't know if the TVM film elements were affected.

Has there been any word on if they're remastering from the original film elements?
