Oversensitive screen Nexus 7

I find the Nexus frustrating after using an Ipad. The screen sensitivity is too high and it often registers false taps for instance I could be scrolling down a page to find myself being taken back to the previous webpage. Is there a different technique to the Nexus or is it just more sensitive than the Ipad.

Mine is just the same - I think its a feature of the Nexus 7.2.

After doing some Googling , it appears that it's an Android Tablet problem where there just doesn't appear to be any Android browsers that match the stability of Safari on the Ipad .

There's quite a lot of reports about touchscreen glitches on the Nexus 7 (2013), with ghost touches etc.

Personally I haven't seen anything about it being a general Android browser fault, but something specific to the Nexus 7 which affects all apps. I sometimes play Bejeweled and similar games and it can be annoying.

There's been less about this fault recently so it possibly only affects early production batches.

The tablet I had before had the opposite problem, i.e. required a very definite touch (almost a prod), of the two, I'd rather have the high sensitivity of the Nexus, but it can be annoying at times.

When using flash based sites the keyboard often pops up when it's not wanted, which is pretty irritating. But I think that may be more down to flash than the hardware.

It's not another wind up thread , I have 2 nexus 7 devices , wouldn't touch an Ipad mini at it's premium price . I do however have an Ipad air and it's infinitely smoother to use than the Nexus . I simply came here for advice in tweaking the device in order to make it less sensitive ie web pages dissapearing when I've accidently touched the screen which doesn't happen with the Ipad . I read a blog that stated that other readers had the same complaint . I don't need to be a fan boy to have an opinion or a question .

My Nexus 7 2013 model was pretty rubbish in this respect, I have to say, until I got the KitKat upgrade, it's much improved now.

Probably not much help, but there you go... I almost sold mine, I have to admit but once that upgrade came, I'm loving it again.

I have to admit, despite being an android fanboy, iPads are definitely slightly better in terms of touch response and smoothness of scrolling etc, fact.

If users are reporting an issue with screen over-sensitivity on their Nexus tabs, why would that be 'an Android Tablet problem?' and what is the relevance of 'the stability of Safari?'

There are thousands of types of tablet running many different versions of Android on which loads of different browsers will be installed.

To say I don't get your point would be putting it mildly.

I have had both versions of the Nexus since release and recently upgraded to a IPad Air. I use the Nexus for web browsing primarily but noticed that it was frequently frustrating with scrolling a page opening links to another page or taking me back to the previous page . I don't have this problem in anything other than web browsing ( which I use it for primarily ) . I don't think that I have the screen sensitivity problem described by others as this problem appears to be quite specific ? I googled and found a blog from someone who had used IOS and android devices for web browsing and compared them over a length of time , this blog described the exact same problem I was having .Unfortunately I can't find it now. I don't have any reason to make up issues where they don't exist , sorry if it offends you .

What are you talking about? Seems like it's not just the screens that are over-sensitive.

Where have I said that I didn't believe you?

There's no obvious link to me between someone having screen issues on a Nexus tablet and the stability of the Apple Safari browser but if there is to you then cool.

I'll leave you to it.
