Hi all

I did the retune for the latest BBC hd channels recently. Since then there seems to be a slight stutter on the sound. I've noticed it most on BBC1 but also on C4.
Has anybody else had this issue?
I'm on Winter Hill by the way.

Cheers Tom

All programmes or just some? Wondering if it is related to http://www.a516digital.com/2014/01/b...hes-on-hd.html, but then again from what I've read elsewhere it was glitching every 40 minutes or so, so not constant.

Not really sure about the frequency of the problem but while it's been happening I've checked the signal strength and it's been fluctuating between medium and low. So I'm now wondering if that could be part of the problem. I was under the impression that the picture would be the 1st thing to deteriorate?

Just watching Avatar on C4 and the sound is blipping and popping ( may be better describing it as distortion? ) during the film but not during the breaks.
I'm wondering if there's some sort of fault on our box? Maybe the 5.1 sound is iffy but standard 2 channel stereo is ok? Or is all stuff broadcast in 5.1 now?
It doesn't bother the Mrs that much but it's starting to get on my nerves. Even started watching BBC News on SD to avoid the blips

Cheers Tom

Avatar was in 5.1, the adverts not (the audio format automatically switches). Oddly, I didn't notice any sound issues with Avatar, but I do often experience them on C4 5.1 shows - Hostages being a recent example. Not sure if the issues you had with Avatar were the same, but I would describe as distortion on the top end. It's what I would expect if the volume was too high on the 5.1 to 2.0 downmix, resulting in clipping. The same programmes sound fine in DD5.1 (on my T7300), but not when switching to 2.0. I wonder if it is regional / transmitter related.

I don't think this is the same issue that you have with BBC News HD as I don't think that is 5.1 - certainly only 2.0 the times I've checked here. I would hope the BBC are not wasting money on 5.1 news when they can't be bothered to use the 5.1 F1 feed.
