I love him but he's 82 (almost 60 years older than Sam Faiers) and as a result he doesn't seem understand the younger ones. I felt his attitude towards Jasmine was a bit OTT. Too old-fashioned for the show?

I don't like him, never have, but why should age matter?

Age discrimination isn't something people should have to deal with.

It's hilarious how much this show likes casting fossils.

It's not inherently the age. They actively seem to cast people who are old AND old fashioned, straight-laced, chauvinistic, etc. There are plenty of people, especially in show business, who are in the same age group and not like this, but they typically aren't going to be cast on shows like this one.

Jackie Stallone was about 140 when she went in and was tremendous value during her 3 days stint. However, most of the "old" celebrities they have cast don't do much. I'd not be too shocked if Lionel quit soon.

I preferred the earlier CBB's when the housemates had names people actually knew, were not all under 30 and did not fall about drunk, wetting their pants and swearing like Geordie females at a hen's do. People with personalities rather than young women with alcohol and clothing issues.

He'll walk for sure.

Are we watching the same show? My count is that 50% (6 of 12) of this cast is 30 or (in some cases significantly) much older.

Oh well. Lets not let actual facts stand in the way of a good rant, shall we?

Of course not!

I noticed once again (for the second series in a row), we have an old lady complaining about how someone young in the cast would have "done their head in".

There seems to be an epidemic with the elderly females of the United Kingdom's marginal celebrity culture with proper "Head Maintenance". Really someone needs to look into this to see if it's an epidemic affecting the entire population.

Lionel may well be 60 years older than Sam but being disgusted or uncomfortable around vulgarity isn't age specific. IMO - Sam looked equally disgusted and very uncomfortable .......I feel very sorry for her being attatched to that revolting specimen.

And why should there be an age limit for BB ..........shouldn't it reflect all aspects of life? Being old doesn't mean that you are invisible and no longer exist .....it's all about creating a mix isn't it? Makes it all the more interesting.

As I say ..........if someone is lacking in social awareness, manners, class ........it's not simply old folk who look down on it.

If their target audience is 16-34 you wonder why he is there.

For a start I know a hell of a lot of older people who watch and have watched for years and I know a lot of posters on here are older than that target. If it's aimed at 16-34 does that mean that they're not allowed to watch?

Also ..........even if the target group is 16-34 does that mean that they're only interested in watching people of their own age? How boring would that be? It's all about a good social mix of different types- different ages - that's what makes a good show isn't it?

I can see Lionel doing a Ken Russell and walking at some point soon. There's no guarantees of course, but I imagine he's gonna tire of some of the younger people's antics pretty quickly.

I can't see the point of inviting an 82 year old into a group of youngsters and expecting them all to get on.

He is going to ruin the show as far as i can see, he was born in the 30's so he isn't going to understand life as it is today.

I doubt if he would watch the show so why put him into it?

BIB - on the contrary. he understands the likes of Jasmine very well and knows exactly what she is.

Thank heavens for him, it's the likes of Lionel that mean we'll at least attract some half-decent Celebs in future, because others will think...well if Lionel's done it, I'll have a shot. BB's very survival depends on a mixture of all ages, characters and backgrounds imo.

Have to say, I don't like that Lionel got his own bed for "medical reasons". What else is he going to get out of for medical reasons? Tasks? If so, then he shouldn't be in the house.

However, I like him at the moment. I thought his reaction to Jasmine last night!

Age is just a number, you're as young as you feel.

Maybe he has to get up a lot in the night for a wee. Maybe he has a bad back. Allowances are made for disabled HM's - I don't see anything wrong in allowing him a bed of his own. TBH .......I think they should all have the option for a bed of their own. They sign away a lot of their 'rights' when they sign up for BB - I have however always felt it was a bit wrong to force them to sleep in double beds.

You'd be surprised just how much life you can understand, when you've studied it for 80 years!

The sentence could stop at 'Is Lionel Blair too old?'

Sorry
