Lionel's already better than that racist fossil Ron and Jasmine's likely to cause more drama than Courtney, so they're an improvement on CBB11's equivalents.”

I'm not bothered about them not getting on, i'm bothered about his attitude to the young ones will ruin the show.

Well he must feel about 200 being in the house with the young ones.

Well he doesn't seem to understand it's 2014, he probably still lives in the 30's, listening to him.

How do you come to that conclusion All I saw was an a gentleman being disgusted and astonished at shockingly vulgar bad behaviour from a female housemate.Besides he was a toddler in the 1930's so not sure what your getting at

This article says he's had prostate cancer twice and he still at that time(Sept) had problems. Maybe having his own bed has something to do with this ? I doubt if he was the only HM a bit p*** off by Jasmine last night.Lionel has kids and Granchildren so I don't think he's that isolated from young people!
I've seen two nights of them and it's far too early for me to decide anything about them. The first night is always far from reality. I've also seen a video clip of a sober Jasmine today being very kind about Linda having a sore throat and needing a bed of her own.

There are no 'old ladies' or 'elderly females' in the house? Are you unable to determine Lionel's gender?

How? All he has done so far is say to someone that Jasmine's conversation about 'fingerbanging' was 'not very nice'. If that has ruined things for you, you had better not put any peas under your mattress.

Big Brother isn't a retirement home. If a housemate is unable to compete in tasks and be put through the same as every other hm, then they shouldn't be there.

Your post is quite silly. I fall into that age group and my favourite housemates have always been the old ones. Michael Barrymore, George Galloway, Peter Burns, Stephanie Beecham. Im 34 and just because im the alleged young group it doesnt make me blind to real talent and earned status. Being Australian i dont know who any of these people are, but i can tell you i have have more respect for the old guy than i do for that thing from America. I suspect most decent under 34 year old would think the same.

I doubt if he would watch the show so why put him into it?”

Is there a head exploding icon i can use here!?

Ruin the show?? ruin the show?????????? This man is bringing class, decent morals and good manners to the show. I was born in the 70s...should i understand life today??

She was talking about putting fingers in bums..what decent person would even talk like that? Even that weirdo kid with the loose pants was disgusted by it. ANYONE with common decency would have though the same as Lionel

I think the show is now too young for Lionel and alot of it's viewers... seriously, the promotion of stupidity and it's lack of dignity and morals make it purely for teenagers and the terminally stupid.

It was once my favourite show. Sad how downhill it's gone

I think i agree with you. Im stunned that a number of posters think finger banging is perfectly acceptable to talk about. Thats just bad. I think the last great series might have been the one with Barrymore

Has he been excused from tasks? Big Brother is a house for all .....who says he's too old?

Did not know he was 82. Well, I don't think he's too old to be on the show. The only HM I have felt was too old was that guy (Ken?) I think he was something to do with film - he had to be helped up and down the stairs by Davina and was just so slow at everything. He was far too old.

It's not to do with age but decency!

Really ? That's your assertion is it ?

The poor doddering old fool has no concept of the tedious things like being able to understand the world he happens to live in. The old sod must be living in state of constant confusion. For the love of all that is precious, don't tell him about the invention of the wheel ! It well may just blow his knackered and feeble mind !

Hopefully one day most of the people on here who are so ageist will also be old and then, as the saying goes Karma is a b***h.

My God. You talk as if he's just been dug up! He is actually living "life as it is today" you know. As long as he's physically up to it why shouldn't he be there. And who decides who is too old? I was more worried about Lauren last time. She was not up to it physically or mentally. Lionel is having no problems at the moment.

So people of a certain age shouldn't be allowed on reality tv? I don't want to see a bunch of under 25s in CBB ...I like a mixed age group to see how they interact with each other ..

I think Lionel seems quite young at heart, and very alert for his age - and being part of, connected to, and working in the entertainment industry for years, it means working with and knowing lots of people of all ages, and to suggest because he's 82 he won't understand life today I think inaccurate - he's not a typical 82 year old from what I can see. How long he will stay in the house is another thing for the older CBB hms, but he's ok, he may just be exempt from some tasks.

Lionel's terrific, and perfectly able and up for challenges of the House! He has bags of energy and still works. When he was in a documentary called "the Young Ones" recently - ironically tackling the subject of ageism, he was the most active and never sat down. He got together learning some new dance routines with a group of young dancers and they nearly fell over when he revealed his age.

What did piss him off, was when a young girl, asked him in a slow and patronising way, "would you like a cup of tea dear" he said he felt he was talked to as if he was in a retirement home and said, ‘Either these girls go, or I go!’

More here.for anyone interested.

I've never been a fan of his, but I don't think he is to old to go on CBB, it is hardly like he is decrepid, he is very fit for his age. Regarding Jasmine, I don't think he over-reacted to her behaviour, Ollie was equally appalled by it, as was Sam, who looked like she wanted the ground to open up and free her from her. The other young ones who were laughing at her rolling around drunk, showing her breasts and talking dirty were laughing at her not with her.
