He's far too old. I've no idea why they even thought he would be good for the show.

I doubt if he would watch the show so why put him into it?”

Think you will find it will be Jasmine who ruins the show for all the other contestants. As for him not understanding life as it is today, he, like a lot of people understand it far better than some and they just don't like it and why should they when they are faced with that vulgar madam, even the younger ones looked embarrassed by her.
Purple.

Well said!

I'm 40yrs younger than Lionel but would much prefer his company and interesting stories than the vile behaviour of Jasmine or those Geordie shore slappers whose only life experience is of sleeping around and queuing at the clap clinic.

He got together learning some new dance routines with a group of young dancers and they nearly fell over when he revealed his age.

More here.for anyone interested. ”

Thanks NR.

That was an interesting article.
After reading that, I know that LB's a real trouper and will cope just fine.

I do hope Hicky takes the time to read the article but probably wont. Its about a boring old man after all.

First thing I thought when I saw him was'what if he died in the BB house'? It is a very stressful place after all. He seems to keep up with other celeb gossip from hearing him talk so not totally out of touch and amazing he can still walk properly after being a dancer for so many years. I would find Jasmine's behaviour gross too, but from talking to my teenage daughter about comments from others on her Facebook -I think it is the norm now.

He doesn't look well

Jasmine's talk of anal fingering is base but she was drunk and has no personal censor.

It isn't attractive or classy talking that way but I would let it go and put if down to her being drunk and loud, rather than go on for ages about how offensive it is the way Lionel did.

I doubt many (if any) women spoke this way when he was in his 30s.

Lov lional, without having an older presence in the house, there would be bedlam. If he doesn't walk, he may well be the winner IMO. He has stories to tell, if , the younger members of the house will allow him to tell them! I think he is either very stupid to have gone on this show.....or ....very clever.... I hope it is the latter. He is a real icon of dance and tv in times gone past... Let's hope the public keep him in. And get rid of the ......!

You mean he has names to drop! The people whose names he drops, now they would have stories to tell. He's a washed up entertainer, desperate for a bit of cash to fund his lavish retirement, that's all.

Thats the whole point, he's the odd one out, it's bad enough listening to people copmplain from outside the house, but inside, what did he go in for.
Bet he's never watched the program in his life.

How? All he has done so far is say to someone that Jasmine's conversation about 'fingerbanging' was 'not very nice'. If that has ruined things for you, you had better not put any peas under your mattress.”

well why doesn't he leave if he doesn't like it?

Yes of course he'll ruin the show, we don't need self induced sensors inside the house, it's bad enough outside.
Who wants to watch Lionel bleating on about everyone else for 3 weeks?

He should be at home in an armchair watching the Blue Ocean.

Jasmin should be able to do what she wants, thats what she went in for, not to nurse some old feller that doesn't like the language.

He's not nominated, so maybe that Going will have to wait until next time, and that's a shame, but Go he shall!

I like Lionel, he won't win because he's just a bit uniteresting but he is nice and you can't have everyone bickering because it would get boring, you need people to bring the happiness. I have to laugh at some of you who think he's ruining the show and think he's out of touch. I think most people decent people would cringe at someone talking about fingerbanging within a few hours of knowing them in such a blunt way, when your on camera and giving first impressions, it just gave bad impressions. I would be put off if some girl talked like that. Yes, she was drunk but she couldn't see how she could have offended someone and you have to beware of how your behavior affects others, you can't go though life like that, it's about decent people skills which you still need together if you want to, you know, get through life. I'm only 16 so very much the target audience before someone says that I'm 'old'

Is he the oldest housemate ever?

I actually met him once about 12 years ago and he was a nice guy. Pinched a cigarette off me!

I'll be interested to know why he nominated Jim over people that he's never heard of.

If it's for compassionate reasons then fair enough but if it's for something else I'd like to know what it is.

Whether he is too old, I'm unsure. At the moment I predict that he will lose all credibility and become a laughing stock but maybe he will prove me wrong.

Old people tend to have traditionalist views. Nothing wrong with that.

I want to alert you to how discriminatory this opinion is. Mikey the blind housemate was exempt from some tasks due to his disability. Sam evans didn't do the pillow fight maybe due to not being able to get hit on the head.( bone anchored hearing aids). Medical needs must be met! Having your own bed for medical reasons is the same as eating different foods for medical reasons and lots of housemates of all ages need different diets.

I still stick to the opinion that if a housemate is unable to take part in tasks and has to be given special treatment that the other hms don't get, then they shouldn't be in the house.

Sure there is, when some of those views are discriminatory or unenlightened.

So by your reasoning anyone with a disability or age realated restrictions shouldn't be allowed in the house.
Wow discriminatory

Not all traditionalist views are as you are stipulating. One can hold traditional views without them being objectionable.

How I wish Big BRother would give the HMs a task at which Lionel, and maybe the other 'olides' like Jim and Linda, could excel (and therefore get some camera time).

How about a good old fashioned game of charades? They could sex it up (but hopefully stop short of a porn show).
