Wow discriminatory”

Big Brother is a competition. Each and every housemate should be treat equally. If one housemate is given special allowances, for whatever reason, then it is unfair on the other housemates in there. Why should they have to do the uncomfortable tasks (such as merely sleeping in a bed with another person) whilst others get to sit on the side? Tasks are a major part of Big Brother and if a housemate cannot do the tasks, then I don't think they should be there. Just like I didn't think Rebecca Adlington should of been in the jungle.

I didn't say anything to imply "all". I was referring to views we've observed in THIS PERSON.

He is a bit, but then Tasks are not as hard now [elf and safety and all that], Celebs are so weak now, loved the gunge, fish guts assault course one where they had to find Food. and the roundabout one years ago, Tasks are So Lame now

For older, or disabled or people with medical needs to be treated equally, they sometimes may need "special allowances" ie for tasks to be adapted so they have equal access, otherwise it's discriminatory. Your argument means that people shouldn't have the aids they need to assist them to take part equally which in Lionels case is a separate bed. Or in my own case a pair of glasses! Some tasks they may have to sit out for medical reasons like Charlie in bb14 who didn't do the wrestling due to a back problem. Treating people equally actually means NOT putting them at a disadvantage due to not adressing their needs. These "special allowances" don't make it unfair for the others! Just fair for the person who needs them.

lionel strikes me as desperate for acceptance, a last clutch at 'fame' and wanting very much to be seen as 'down with the kids' in there. the fact is, though, he's a song and dance man from yesteryear with nothing to offer but tedious stories about showbiz crap no one cares about. i find him crabby, humourless and dull. i just don't think this show is for him.

Do you mean exactly the same as anyone who takes part in the show? In addition to needing the money of course.

WTF? He's got a pulse hasn't he? Since when has age come in to BB? I'd rather watch him than Lee & Luisa who turn my stomach every time I see them!

He looks amazing for 82. Could pass for late 60s

He's doing great and a mixture of ages on CBB makes the show

Im just grateful its not Bruce Forsyth

Yes, as he showed tonight with Luisa. He's in serious denial about his age, and he ought to be in a care home or something. It's embarrassing.

Odette you keep coming on this thread to provoke with this ageist nonsense. I have a friend who's in her 80's and scuba dives every day. Lionel still works and performs and has tons of energy.

what did he show tonight with Luisa Odette Valmont ? I'll tell you. He exposed Luisa for what she is, a snidey, nasty insensitive arrogant brat - not bad for an OAP hey !

Find your comments totally ignorant and offensive - He's on BB, he's joining in everything, he's not 'dead' because he's in his 80's. There are 80 year olds who are so active now, they look after themselves and people are living longer in case you're not following this statistic.
This must be a wind up - surely

Russell joined Celebrity Big Brother in January 2007, at the start of the series, but left voluntarily within a week after an altercation with Jade Goody.[25]

Born Henry Kenneth Alfred Russell
3 July 1927
Southampton, Hampshire, England
Died 27 November 2011 (aged 84)
London, England

Ken was 80 when he went in the house.

To think he only died 4 years after entering the house of old age.

It's pretty clear that some posters simply have no time for the 'older' HM's ..........one day they themselves will be older - probably not wiser though.

Big Brother house is a bit like a care home!
Seriously though, care homes are for people who need care. Lionel can look after himself.

yes, and because i have close relatives his age, that immediately stops me in my tracks without hesitation not to say anything disrespectful about others of that age. I can compare them to him, and he's doing very well, good on him - he's been married to the same woman for 58 odd years too - something many in there i doubt will achieve.

He's extremely double standard. Complains about vulgarity but then undoes his belt and mimes getting his dick out while dancing.

Plus he swears loads.

That's not true... I have no problem with Jim - perhaps that's because he seems to embrace his old age. Lionel and Linda on the other hand obviously resent their old age and are incredibly bitter.

Yeah that's a good point! The whole "deep throat" thing was hilarious, especially after he was bitching about Jasmine and "finger banging". To be honest, he's nothing but a dirty old man.

No he's not too old for Big Brother. He seems to have watched previous series of Big Brother so he would be reasonably savvy.

He was able to relate fine to Ollie despite the age gap.

Sadly, he seems as desperate as the rest of them to win so I think is doing what he can to get air time. If he still has plenty of work outside of this show I don't see why he'd put himself through it.

He's also quite precious of himself, he happens to be the oldest there but Luisa was referring to more than him as OAPS.

When nominating Jim he did't need to bring up the fact that Jim had a production company etc.

Lionel Blair is a senile bastard who is past his sell-by-date. He masquerades as a nice cuddly grandpa when underneath that facade, he's a scheming old man. The way he treated Luisa was absolutely wicked. She made a throwaway joke, which took the piss out of everyone in the house (who wasn't Lee, Casey and Jasmine). He decided to pick on her (used it as an excuse to call her a '****ing cow') even though she was backed up by Jasmine and everyone else took it as a joke. Then his behaviour towards Jasmine. It is very true to say that Jasmine was very annoying on the first night but it did not warrant the sheer rudeness and misogyny that came from Lionel. Oh and remember his treatment on Jim. Jim is Lionel's friend (Lionel is probably Jim's only friend) but Lionel tried to get him out of the house! Lionel Blair is a conniving dick-head but no one will stand up to him because he has his Winter Fuel Allowance and can't walk properly!

It looked like a pure Peter Pan problem Lionel had with Luisa - the mention of the word pensioner just triggered an issue - when she hadn't defined him as being anything other than part of an older group he clearly belongs too. Its a perfectly obvious distinction to make - as long as you are aware that you need to find out what the older group can and want to be interested in doing and where the boundaries between groups actually are.

It also defeats the point of having an older perspective in there, when the people in there contribute nothing. You have a long, rambling, debate and row about norms of sexual activity, and none of the people who actually lived through the permissive 60s through 80s actually says anything. All it needed was someone to point out what activity was common then, to add some perspective and shut the conversation down. Only Linda has actually put anything in context at all. Jim and Lionel just seem interested in saying nothing at all.
