I must admit that I wouldn't go as far to say that she is wrong for the show.
She'd be more suited to a presenting role, but I love Christine.

Why then, when he left in 2012, did the ratings take the biggest slump they've ever had? Clearly no Jason did not entice viewers. I'm not saying that's why people stopped watching (Louie Spence was probably more of a turn off) but it clearly doesn't point to anything being Jason's fault.
I'm pretty sure the ratings had also gone down during the 2011 series. And in any case, when Jason came back last year, the ratings went down again.

Its a shame that you attribute words to others that they have not used.
Irony alert! You say it's a shame that I've done something that I didn't do in the post you quoted.

I said people were whining. They are. I said people have threatened to switch of the tv - they have done the threatening, but apparently not the switching off.

People have said they want the show to be a positive experience, yet they appear to be the very people who love to dwell on the bits they don't like. In my opinion, those people are far more tiresome and negative than Jason. They are the ones putting me off coming into this forum to discuss the show as much as I would otherwise.

He's the reason I didn't watch at all last season (and I have watched all the series from its inception up to that point). So they lost a long-time viewer there - because he was brought back in order to generate interest because of his nasty, below the belt comments that add nothing to the entertainment and I refuse to watch him.

Quite frankly, if people find sheer nastiness entertaining then I despair of the human race (or would do had I not despaired of it a long time ago).

I love Craig Revell-Horwood on SCD because he is not nasty; he makes brilliantly funny comments with his tongue very firmly in his cheek and puts up with an awful lot of abuse himself with a big smile - and comes across as a lovely guy. His comments are also incredibly constructive and don't tend to get into the 'nasty personal' domain that seem to be Jason's stock-in-trade.

I agree with most of this.
My favourite season was definitely the season when the judging panel comprised Robin, Katerina and Louis, who is not my favourite TV personality but much preferable to Jason.

The season before i had got to the point of muting the tv whenever Jason's turn to speak occurred.

The following season i was only able to stomach an episode bfore giving up and i think this will be the same.

I find it ironic that he was allegedly brought back to stem the tide f reducing ratings.
Well that worked out well didn't it?

Yes I've never particularly liked Louie but I liked him on Dancing on Ice. I think the problem that year was that there were too many changes at once with a new presenter and two new panellists. Some people can't handle change! (I loved it!) They should've given that panel another chance. I'm sure Louie wanted to return and we don't know about Katerina!

I liked Louie as well, always constructive.

Katarina tweeted her good wishes to T&D for the show last weekend so it seems to me like she left through choice or at least on good terms.

He was constructive, and even on occasion funny.

I think the panel also felt more balanced with two truly world class Ice skaters, even if not Ice Dancers per se, and Louie who at least was constructive and knowledgeable on the dance aspect.

I agree it was probably too much change at once, but the the decline has not been arrested anyway.

I have switched off..Well I don't have a TV, but I'm not using the catchup service.

I am annoyed that the show I used to like has been ruined by one man's woefully distorted view of playing a Panto Villain, and a greedy TV company padding the show out way beyond its natural length because they want to cram in more adverts. I want to express that somewhere, my family aren't in the slightest bit interested in DOI and never have been, so I come here to commiserate with others who are similarly annoyed.

If you don't like people commenting adversely on any of that, perhaps you should avoid those threads. If you look at the title of this one, you might have guessed that it wasn't going to be filled with positive comments.

I don't think he is really like that. There was a dance show on last year and he was a judge and was really nice and went easy on the contestants.
I don't know about nice but he was constructive rather than merely insulting and gave the impression that he knew what he is talking about. I was stunned at the personality transplant that he had been given for that show. Sadly, the transplant has obviously now been rejected and he is back to his normal self but I guess it partly reflects that on a dance show he knows his stuff but on an ice dancing show he doesn't really have a clue...which is why he shouldn't be there, let alone the fact that he needs a bar of soap to wash the faecal matter out of his his mouth with.

He isn't the only reason for the show's demise but he is certainly one of them.

I think Jason is a bit of a bully to be honest. He picks up on anything Karen says, but you never hear him say anything against what Robin has said, or trying to talk over Robin when he is disagreeing with something he's said. That said, I do almost look forward to hearing what he has to say and I think he fulfils his role on the panel very well.

I enjoyed the Louis Spence series - it was probably the first one I properly got into. I thought I was going to hate Louis, but he came across really well. That year's panel plus one other (Angela Rippon!!!) would have been really good.

Perhaps that is because Robin talks common-sense whereas Karen talks a lot but actually says very little that is worthwhile or relevant.

I must admit that I'm in two minds whether to watch tonight or not.

The show was so much better with Louise Spence, why on earth did they bring Jason back to ruin the party.

Why is Todd There? Why are you there more like Jason?

They've messed about too much with the panel and pros which they don't seem to realise people care about. Why they asked Ashley back I'll never know. They should have rotated panellists from all the series for this one!

Ashley is a waste of space on the DOI panel

No of course not. Without him it would have bitten the dust a couple of series ago
