Everyone acting all emotional at Nolan's "brave" admission that she is broke and on benefits makes me sick. She's had her 15mins of fame and has obviously pissed the money up the wall... And ohhhh so you're on benefits and thank god CBB has come along?? So... You can't just go out and get a job like everyone else has to?? Or is that too beneath you?

So now she's got a space on this show (uh why) so we can all fund her debt problems??

Fair enough they're all in it for the money in some respect but her pitiful benefits reference really was scraping the barrel

Wasn't Les Battersby skint last series as well? I suspect many CBB housemates are in financial trouble.

Some of yesteryears 'Bay City Rollers' are now in normal jobs (I think one is a ward nurse) so, I guess it is possible to go back to 'normality' Its just a pride thing I guess, at the end of the day, a career in the spotlight that phases off is a kind of failure maybe. So any means of staying 'well known' is a bonus (ask Imogen) LOL

Regarding benefits, if she qualifies, so be it.
Im sure she's paid her fair share in contributions

What is worse is when these celebs do multi bankruptcies, because its us who foots the bill for that - are you reading Miss Katona????

she was on benefits for a year wasn't she - she's not now - she had breast cancer, she lost her husband and her sister,, and there may be more life circumstances that happened that i've left out, or we don't know about - Why shouldn't she be entitled to claim something when the chips are down and she's been in need - i'm sure she filled in forms same as anyone else - I wouldn't bash her for this, there's no point - she hopefully will get some work after this and not need to claim in the near future. Some people need a break, life can dish up some tough cards and mean they have to make tougher choices.

Just because someone is famous it doesn't mean that are rich and never have financial problems.

It's a long - long - time since the Nolans were making money from their music. I think it was quite raw and I feel for her; especially as she also lost her sister and her husband. Can't be easy.

How, exactly, are you funding her debt problems?

"pissed the money up the wall" How much money do you think she made from her 'fame'?!

Well she hardly had 15 minutes of fame!

Pissed her money up the wall? Are you suggesting just because she had some fame she made millions that was squandered? How exactly? She's was a singer/performer making an average 'middle class' wage in a business where jobs are never permanent. Most people in their business are forced to sign on at some point. Did she say she had 'debt problems'?

And isn't doing Big Brother 'going out and getting a job like everyone has to'? She's a woman in her fifties who's work experience consists of Summer Season at Blackpool and "Blood Brothers" what job do you expect her to 'go out and get'? She's hardly what you look for when employing a shelf stacker, secretary, burger flipper or brain surgeon.

And hasn't she been recently accepted to be a foster carer? Is that good enough a job for you?

quite right - I read that she takes babies and young children in short term to relieve foster parents/carers so they have a break - she's done this already and hopes to do it again in the future - very kind of her to be fair, not everyone could do this or wants to do it, good for her.

Anyone who thinks it's simply that easy to "go out and get a job" just like that is utterly deluded.

I know you're referring to Linda, but this reeks of a rant against benefits in general, what with the "so we can all fund ___" part.

So true. She would never had made any serious money form the group as they didn't write the songs,
She a jobbing entertainer ,who most at some point in their careers sign on , her sister Anne works in a office , normal day job ,the idea that she was ever really loaded is probably fanciful,

That's what I first thought but then again remembered my sister not feeding me either every time I went to her in uni. I always had to raid her biscuits that she hid from me.
Families don't do owt.

Felt sorry for her! She's been through a lot and I'm sure she's paid her fair share of taxes etc and is entitled to whatever she claimed.

She angered me too! There's lots of people in this country on benefits, trying to find work where they can get it. I would bet my life on the probability that she wasn't seeking proper work like the rest of benefit claimants. Linda is going to have a huge awakening when the money she made from CBB runs out. I hope when she turns her nose up at work that doesn't fit in with her showbiz background, that the Job Centre sanction that bitch and stop her benefits!

Well she is currently employed as a CBB housemate so assuming she was claiming Job Seeker's Allowance, then she has successfully seeked a job. What is the problem?

I was shocked when she said that I thought the Nolans would be quite well off. Didn't think they would be multi millionaires like Madonna but I thought they would have decent amounts of money to comfortably live on.

Mind you, I remember Anne saying on This Morning last September that she works in an office three days a week so they cant be that well off

She's using her talents to get a job. what's wrong with that? And if it pays enough for her not to need to claim benefits anymore then good on her.
Frankly I'd rather get a job cleaning toilets than put myself into a tv show which is known for humiliating it's contestants and running the risk of coming out even less likely to get work in the future.

I doubt she earnt very much as a Nolan sister. There were so many of them to share the money between.

I did say, once the money she makes from CBB runs out. I just don't believe, in the real world, somebody like Linda Nolan would take a job at say... Tesco for example.

Who said she was that rich in the first place?
The Nolans may have sold a lot of records but it doesn't necessarily figure that it would directly translate into their own personal bank balances.
Record companies have been notorious for ripping off music acts. In the past as well as now.

Fair play to her for being a foster carer thats a valuable contribution. She has had a tough few years and come through hopefully. Our Benefit system is there to support people like her who are unable to work through short term set backs. Be grateful for the safety net you may one day need.
