Eviction pronunciation
muzz8

Driving me mad, all these folk that keep saying "Evict" & "Eviction" when it should be pronounced "Ivict" & "Iviction"....

I'm just saying .... sorry - I really do have other things to worry about ! Lol.

Marcus has been annoying me for a while with his "eh-viciton".

It used to annoy me when Brian Dowling said "A-viction" like the letter A.

There is no correct way to pronounce any words. Regional accents mean a variety of different ways. Variety is the spice of life don't you know!

People down south say 'bath' like there's an 'r' or an 'h' in the middle of it. It utterly beggars belief.

It's funny, isn't it. I'm from New Zealand and that's how I pronounce bath, but I say math and graph to rhyme with the Northern English 'bath'. Differences like this aren't a bad thing - they're as ordinary as regional differences in food or music. People talk differently because people are different.

You're upset that someone who's only employed BECAUSE he has a strong regional accent most people find "funny" doesn't pronounce something "properly"?

I don't have the words. Someone hold me while I laugh hard enough to piss myself.

It does sometimes annoy even myself that I've learnt that pronunciation but it doesn't feel right if I force myself to say it the other way!

Who decided there was any "proper" way to pronounce anything. The Apper Clarsses and those pretending to be, to separate themselves from the rest of us?

Amazing how people don't know the difference between pronunciation and accent.

I'm not upset, just mildly irritated. Perhaps it's because I can hear Marcus pandering to those who think he has a strong regional accent by beefing it up and mispronouncing words instead of using his natural accent.

Many accents are phonetically incorrect. Does it matter and what could ever be done about it? Mass free elocution lessons?
