He's just a prehistoric, self-obsessed bore who thinks women should still be parading about like Lady Mary from Downton Abbey.

Zzzzzz

I agree and can't think why anyone would have a problem with this.

Well said. I'm not an elder lemon (not yet) but have no problem interacting with older folk. I am delighted to see Lionel in the house, he has as much right to be there as the younger participants. I would go so far as to say, I would find him WAY more interestging than Jasmine or minging Dappy.

He probably isn't used to women being so undignified.

Do you really want to hear some one talk like that? It does sound so undignified.

I was surprised at that too. He has always seemed so very fit and light on his toes - his career has been very physical .......I'm surprised his lungs are up to it.

No I wouldn't, but I wouldn't say "that's no way for a girl to speak", as I know too well that sometimes girls can be much worse than boys in the way they speak.

Personally, I would just judge them for what they are (an undignified slapper) and I certainly wouldn't work myself up over it. He looked like he was about to keel over and die when she came out with what she did. I'm sure he has heard much worse in his time.

But you have to remember Lionel is in his 80s. Girls in his day probably didn't get on like that. I was just so cringing for him to be sat in that position and listen to that.

It is ok for Lionel to discuss the size of mens private parts though. Oh dear.

Why? Is it illegal now?

Exactly. I've never cared much for him but to say he's of limited talent is quite

How many of us know women who do speak like her in a gathering of mixed age strangers? That's was the first time I'd ever heard a woman speak the way she did. I don't live under a rock either.

I agree with that. It was very hypocritical, but he just had to name drop as usual.

Many dancers live on fags and claim the exercise keeps their lungs in better shape than one would expect

I agree, I'm so sick of Lionel name dropping. He is so desperate to be seen as a legend, it's comical!

The replies to this thread are weird and it's a bit (very) scary that a lot of you are actually agreeing with him that women should basically be expected to keep their mouths shut and be embarrassed at any drunken crudeness.

Jasmine was crude, ill-mannered, maybe insensitive to the people around her, but we all saw how smashed she was, come on. And as an old guy, Lionel might have been right to take issue with the way she spoke and acted - but his diary room scene very very very clearly used waaaay outdated specifically gendered language and in my opinion they're views that should not be shown on TV coming from a guy with such a nice-guy image without any consequence whatsoever (his just-looking-out-for-you tone made it all the worse). Maybe my thread title was a bit dramatic

Jim Davidson is the biggest misogynist out there - and he's been married 5 times.

I think you've really got the wrong end of the stick. I think a lot of people find it peurile, shocking and disrespectful that anyone at all can sit spouting filth like that in front of an old man (or anyone) within a few hours of meeting them, Doesn't matter whether it be male or female.

The fact that he said 'young lady' or something like that is simply a stick people are using to bash him with.

Why be offensive about a man who thinks it is not nice for a lady (a term which hardly applies to trashy Jasmine) to have such a filthy mouth. His generation had more of an idea of polite conversation.
