TMZ, a big US media website, have just posted an article on Evander's discussion with Luisa on BB about homosexuality being a handicap. He is getting a lot of support on there, I'll paste in the article:

Evander Holyfield told a housemate on UK Celebrity Big Brother last night being gay is no different than being handicapped ... because a doctor can fix both.

Holyfield pulled the Phil Robertson like move during his first week in the BB house Sunday when Luisa Zissman asked him if there were any gay boxers.

Holyfield stutters while trying to answer her ... but when Luisa says being gay is normal -- Evander quickly disagrees and tries to explain why it's not only a choice, but compares homosexuality to having a disability and says doctors can fix it.

When Luisa tells him you can't fix homosexuality ... E.H. continues his explanation.

Despite Holyfield's personal beliefs ... beliefs shared by many people around the world ... Big Brother producers tried to impose morality on him, scolding him for sharing his beliefs and telling him he offended many people.

Holyfield never apologizes and explains he was just trying to share his opinion.

Wow, some of those comments on that site. Judging by those comments, pretty sure the UK is more accepting of gay people than the US. On Twitter, everyone was against what he said (with people obviously saying he should have an opinion despite it being wrong).

How does he propose doctors can fix gay people?

Glad his disgusting views have been exposed across the pond.

Yeh, Endemol must be rubbing their grubby paws with glee.

Agreed, some of these comments are hilarious. Someone commented saying gays don't want people to know the truth and it's somehow linked to President Nixon, as if there's some gay conspiracy going on

I'm sure I've read of quacks claiming they can fix the gay.
Isn't there some kind of weird fundamental Christian boot camp where they claim they can purge the gay from you?

Aversion therapy I imagine - or chemical castration like they did with Alan Turing (recently pardoned)...

TMZ is the wasteland of trash news in America.

Do not be surprised to find deluded idiots swarming to comment on their site.

I think it's a touchy subject over in the US at the moment.

They have a reality star called Phil Robertson (from Ducky Dynasty, never heard of it either) whose made the press with his anti-gay views and it was made into a big thing with anyone and everyone having an opinion of it.

Doubt this will have the same impact but it does add to it.

And the network that broadcasts Duck Dynasty were so appalled by his behaviour that they ran an 11 hour Duck Dynasty marathon on Christmas day

Some of the comments are crazy so many people agreeing with Evander ..America aren't as accepting of gay people as much I really feel for gay guys in America who grow up there. There are people on the site who agree with most of us which is great.

Eww they had to compare it to the Phil Robertson thing.
With that one the network reversed their decision to suspend him because they were bombarded with complaints from Christians.
Although the biggest motivation was obviously money as the show was going to end without him on it.

There can't exactly be the same amount of backlash over the Evander thing since it's happened here in the UK where people are more chilled out about religion. Though I wonder if it will conjure up a UK vs US debate.
I kind of hope that's the last of it but I think Ch5 would love the publicity.

America is very big on the freedom to religious belief and freedom of speech both of which are enshrined in their constitution.
So whilst some people will take offence to Evander's statement there are many others that will be very willing to defend it based solely upon his rights as an American to hold those beliefs.

My God the comments on there are just outrageous. I thought it was bad here but at least we can have discussions and debates about what he said without people calling for all homosexuals to be stoned to death. I think I'm done for the night. :l

There's some seriously bad juice going around...what an odd view. I thought that this is 2014, not 1914. Some people love a conspiracy theory and want to blame everything not on themselves or others but their government. It's as if a government is inherently wrong.

And some people on that site don't even realize 55% of people with HIV in this country are 'straight'. It's not a disease exclusive to gay people...ughhhh such prejudiced and narrow-minded views are really disheartening to look at.
