Hmm, I'm starting to think that this event could blow up. It;s being written about in loads of newspapers with numerous celebrities comments, as well as an American gossip site.

Quite right too..it was a disgusting thing to say. Still, it's showing up religion for what it is.

I don't think it will blow up until he or another HM makes another homophobic remark. Then it will be January 2007 all over again.

I don't see what the big deal is. He is entitled to his opinion.

Even though "religion" is a broad term and didn't even enter the discussion.

Boy George once said the EVERYBODY was a bit gay. Isn't that just an unfounded opinion and offensive to many?

I think it was the disability comparison that did it. If he just said that he didn't believe in it, that would have been treated as more minor by people. But people are not happy to him saying that gays can be "fixed". CBB and Evander are still trending on Twitter. A lot of disgusted people.

A homosexual being offensive?

I understand that it won't be popular with some but that doesn't mean he isn't entitled to his belief. Could you imagine a world where we all thought the same way? I know thats the way things seem to be going with political correctness but we are all individuals capable of our own thoughts and that should be encouraged.

He is entitled to his belief and to be able to express it but people are entitled to be disgusted by it too.

I knew you completely misunderstood my posts.

FYI... I'm not religious...

Indeed they are. Do you think he should have been reprimanded for it?

I agree but we need to treat every situation the same, especially on a show like BB which is a target for controversy. I mean, come on, people complained last summer when Abz put Courtney's rabbit? through the mangle...

If someone said, "I don't like black people", the same warning would have occurred. An ejection for sure actually. Racism, homophobia and sexism is ALL types of discrimination. So any types of discrimination is something that will be bad no matter what you believe.

Fair enough they have the belief, but shouldn't have said it in front of millions... but he probably didn't expect it to be offensive. Pretty sure the US are more lenient on these comments.

No misunderstanding at all, thanks.

I think so, just because BB needs to be extremely careful. It's better for them to warn it and look like they're being too tough rather than look like they're being too lenient.

No-one's entitled to an unchallenged bigoted opinion.

Come to think of it you're right. I remember (think it was) Gina taking offence at someone saying the don't date black guys even though that was just personal preference. I guess I just think they take things too far. A bit surprised at Boy George though.

Boy George is vile and revolting, he probably wants to steal some publicity out of this.

In fairness I think "slam" is probably the incorrect term and the mirror is just sensationalising the whole thing. What he said was actually quite mild and didn't come across half as angry as what Rylan wrote.

That wasn't what she got in trouble for. It was insinuating that Gina, who is black, wouldn't go for white guys based on the fact she's black.

What makes you think that? If that was the case they would have singled out that comment when the warned her but they didn't.

Not that Georgey isn't right to be upset, but to be honest does anyone really CARE what he thinks?

Elton John needs to get on this ASAP!!!

I do have to laugh at this:

Quote:
“"Welcome to Britain, racism, sexism, homophobia and bad hair are not tolerated!"”

I'm curious what fantasy-world he lives in if he really thinks Britain is really that kind of shining example of tolerance. Claiming that sounds pretty idiotic when compared against reality (that it might not be to the level of some places, but still harbors a lot of deep prejudice of all kinds). The biggest laugh is the part about sexism. The UK may have a slightly better record on homophobia than some places, and some big improvements in racism, but it's a deeply sexist culture and that's not changing anytime soon.
