I think last night's show highlighted one of the biggest problems with Dancing On Ice - the show is FAR too cruel! Granted Strictly Come Dancing has some hostility with the judges, but to have a presenter making cheap digs at a pro skater was a new low for DOI, and indeed partnering Jorgie with Sylvain was a blatant and shameful attempt at exploiting them both for some trashy headlines. Not nice at all and ended the weekend on a really sour note, which is such a shame for what is supposedly a celebration of the series!

What especially saddens me, is having met quite a few of the DOI skaters and seen their posts on Twitter, its quite clear that they're (mostly) like a big happy family who support each other and share each other's highs and lows. What a shame that the producers are not more like them, as I think it would be a much more enjoyable programme!

Jane said they wanted the last series to be positive and a celebration. What with Jason V Karen yet again and the ill advised pairing of Jorgie and Sylvain it hardly got off to an ideal start. Not sure about the two double eliminations in the first two weeks or the judges' scores not counting then either.

So far It's been a complete shambles.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the comments - and contestants not happy with Jason's style could have chosen not to take part.

However, I did think it was mean to put Jorgie with Sylvain like that, then to make a big deal of it in the VT. I also think it was a bit much to lose two skaters last night, especially as last night's group were stronger skaters than next week's group.

I agree about Jason. He's part of the package and you accept that when you sign up for the show. Schofield was much more offensive than Jason yesterday though, on most shows the hosts are the 'shoulder to cry on', clearly not here as he causes the upset!

I said Jason V Karen, not just Jason. The idea that someone should avoid taking part to avoid being got at by a judge is a bit odd IMO, I'd rather see the judges asked to behave a bit better. Jason was actually being very good and very constructive for the first few performances last night, pity he could not keep it up. And he and Karen are often bad as each other.

At the end of the day, some people work with people they do not get along with in real life, so why should it be any different for Jorgie? In life, you just need to work with people, even if you do not like, or get along with them. If you cannot be profesional, then you have no place being there. This is the case for Jorgie. She should have been more professional about the whole thing and wouldn't have been voted out.

In the space of one episode we had:

- The Sylvain/Jorgie/Schofield fiasco. Low, cheap, rogue, rude.
- TWO couples leaving in the FIRST show. What kind of ridiculousness?
- Christine Bleakly, with all seriousness, uttering the words "If you thought we were going to go easy on our celebrities just because it's the final series, you were wrong." - The tone of this show is all wrong. Can you imagine Brucie saying something like that over on BBC One?

Shambles.

I really did not like the scores not counting, the instant elimination (no matter who, rememeber it will happen next week as well). I didn't really even think there should have been a skateoff in the first two weeks. They could easily have two from three eliminated after that if needs be, at least it would beat watching the fillers.

I do know what you mean by the fact it is supposed to be happy and a celebration of the show being the last series and last night did kind of put a lump in your throat. I wasn't a fan of Jorgie, that said I didn't want her to go and seeing how gutted she was was pretty sad. I really felt sorry for her. And so yes, it did kind of end the weekend on a bit of a sour note.

It's like so many people say............the atmosphere on Strictly is so much more uplifting

the double elimination was cruel, especially on the first show - they could have waited until next week, when everyone had skated, then opened the phone lines and elimiated 2 couples

I'm not team Jason by a long way, but if anything I didn't think he did a lot wrong, if anything last night. Karen was spoiling for a reaction for the sake of it, It made her look stupid. As wazzyboy said, they are often as bad as each other. Its cringeworthy

I agree. They should take a leaf out of Strictly which still has a massive fanbase after all these years and has even grown in popularity. The reason Strictly is so popular is because it really is feel good TV and there's brilliant TV, DOI has none of that. Yes they have Craig but he never gets personal and only ever comments on the dancing, and he's actually a good judge, unlike Jason who is just a horrible human being and some of his judging last night was ridiculous. I don't know why they felt the need to put the double elimination in and do it in such a harsh way as well.

"This series is a celebration! "

Followed by:
Jorgie and Sylvain pairing
Karen vs. Jason (so unnecessary - it's not like The X Factor panel where it's all in good fun, it comes across as really spiteful and just brings the mood down)
Leaderboard doesn't count
Double elimination after one performance

It's stunts like these over the years that have killed the show.

I agree.
I did enjoy the performances, but Schofield showed his inner bitch last night and made a tricky situation very uncomfortable. I know Jorgie made some comments in her VT, but I felt Schofield should have completely ignored Sylvain's romantic history. He is not that great of a presenter and certainly no comedian, or even a particularly quick wit, imo. Just a not very pleasant man, elevated far beyond where his skill and ability would have naturally taken him. (Just like his giggle-buddy Willoughby)

I don't enjoy Jason and Karen arguing either.

I completely agree.
I was sad to lose Jorgie last night as she looked to me to be one of the stronger skaters and females in the line-up. I thought once into the routine she and Sylvain did a good job and were professional, but off the ice it was really clear that they did not get along. Hardly surprising, and not nice of the producers (and T and D?) to pair them without giving a thought to their back history.

Call me cynical, but I reckon their back history is exactly why they were paired together.

In fairness to Jorgie, I interpreted her VT comments as being dry and sarcastic humour - having seen her on Celebrity Juice she seems to know how what she says will be interpreted; I'd wager she was going for humour - especially when you consider the obviously-filmed-for-the-VT looking at the male skaters on her phone and commenting on them with a friend; I reckon she imagined it would be soundtracked with comedy music etc. and not played completely straight.

Poor showing by ITV - it leaves a bitter taste and the series has just begun. And don't get me started on Jason and (especially) Karen - Jason's behaving the way he always does, which is sometimes a bit too honest and blunt - and she's actively looking for a fight. I feel sorry for Ashley being stuck between the two of them.

Unfortunately I think the celebrity status that comes with skaters appearing on Dancing on ice has turned one or two of them into not very nice people. A few series ago i asked one of them who i had known a long time if they would help organise a surprise for a little girl who was a keen ice skater and tragically lost both her siblings very close together.

This persons response was that they had no idea who I was and they didn't talk to fans !! The message they sent was uncalled for and rude , they certainly do know who I am ,we skated at the same rink and always chatted if we bumped into each other since the start of the series.. I hate to say it but in my dealings with the regular participants of DOI i have found them rude and egotistical. AS the saying goes be nice to people on your way up you don't know who'll you'll meet on the way down !

That's a shame. I've had generally very positive experiences of meeting various DOI people and interacting with them online, so its a pity to hear this. I would like to think this was a bit of an exception to the rule as most of them seem like lovely people.

That's pretty horrible, To be honest, I know they aren't obliged to, but in that situation, you'd think they'd be happy to help regardless of whether they knew you or not.

I am saddened that someone has not got the grace or compassion to brighten the life of a little girl who was grieving.
Especially as its little girls like her that have helped make the show a success and enabled the unknown to have gained celebrity status and all that goes with it.

i was once proud to call this person a friend but not anymore , being a "celebrity " for a while might make you feel important but it is people in this world who have a kind heart that truly deserve adoration.

I so hope DOI read this.

I thought Phil was very unkind to Sylvain. I doubt he would have "joked" with Christopher Dean about the fact he left his wife and hooking up with Karen on the show!!! No it was more "fun" to ridicule a pro dancer who was in no position to fight back. The whole VT was awfully disrespectful to both skaters, Jorgie and Sylvain, if (as I have read) the whole scene was scripted by the producers of the show. They seem to be terribly out of touch with their audience after the fiasco of Pamela Anderson being paid thousands to appear on the show and the only people who did not know her career was fading fast and the public really did not like her, were the producers of DoI.
