FREE BUBBLY!!

Bought from Ocado a few times, bloody expensive. Was under the assumption they were Waitrose's online shopping service - will they now vanish?

Going to have a look at what they have to offer, see how much they charge. Free bottle of Champagne if you sign up by 31st January.

There's no such thing as a free ..... (insert word of choice).

Aldi's Champagne Monsigny is much better and is £10. Everything else is also much cheaper and often better.

Ocado do stock Waitrose products but they are not part of Waitrose. I also believe they have struck a deal to deal with Morrisons' online shopping service.

Waitrose have always had a delivery service of their own (within the M25 mainly) but they do seem to be expanding it a bit now. I've used it a few times and didn't find it anymore expensive than doing an online shop with Sainsbury's and the substitutions were generally much better

With Waitrose you quite often get a freebie when you use their online service. I've had a teatowel, a reusable shopping bag, several different types of biscuits etc. I may have to do this month for the free Champagne too

I feel a Waitrose shop coming on. Was using Asda as got a 3-month pass which expires in 3 days.

Worth it for the bubbly.

Delivery with Waitrose is free if you spend £50 or more.

Epic fail

Site very hard to use and most basic items unavailable

Allocated store which is 0.1 mile difference is distance to the better stocked store

We ended up having to shop instore at the better one and it had all the food we wanted,

We wanted to try the online shop anyway plus we wanted the Champagne for my husband's birthday this weekend

Their customer service is crap and they have been trained in customer fob off (PR BS). They used to be more caring and matched their premium status.

Waitrose are going downhill imo and we will hear about them having problems in the near future (not due to giveaways)

I'm not so sure about that, they seem to be doing quite well at the moment... http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/0...A070BB20140108

Quote:
“(Reuters) - Upmarket British grocer Waitrose posted a 3.1 percent rise in sales in the Christmas period, beating the tiny growth eked out by larger rival J Sainsbury and confirming its position as one of the winners in the key festive trading.

Upmarket chains like Waitrose have outperformed the wider market in recent years, while Britain's biggest grocers have found the going tough as consumers' disposable incomes remain under pressure from wage rises not keeping up with inflation.

Waitrose, part of the employee-owned John Lewis Partnership, said on Wednesday that for the five week period ending on December 24 underlying sales excluding fuel were 3.1 percent higher than last year.

That compared with a 0.2 percent rise in underlying sales at Sainsbury's over the fourteen weeks to January 4, its Christmas quarter.

Waitrose said total sales, a measure which includes new stores, were 5.4 percent higher at 736 million pounds, reflecting strong growth of 33 percent in online grocery shopping sales.”

No they don't. It's a comparison to previous Xmas sales. Lots of retailers including Tesco had bad Xmas sales.

I've used them for years with no issues. In fact, I've found their customer service to be impeccable. Why did you want a freebie bottle of champagne for your husbands birthday? If it's his special day why don't you put your hand in your pocket and treat him to a nice bottle of bubbly, not linked to a freebie offer and then you don't have to use their site that you dislike so much-it's win win.
