The dance was more a waltz rather than a quick step, so she ends up moving at the appropriate spped , and in contact with her partner. The big lifts were those she did last week in her skate off routine, and many others were simple carrying lifts - like those Dan does again and again with Hayley.
It looks like just lazy choregraphy. There's no reason why she couldn't skate around alone doing fewer big lifts like Zaraah, or add to her lift repertoire like Beth and Suzanne have. She added to her big lift in her skate off routine - showing there was potential there. There's every reason to think she could do a dance routine like Hayley's better than Zaraah or Beth. Indeed, she could probably do any of Hayley's dance routines ,and put a bigger lift in at the end of them than Hayley has ever managed.
I think they see her in the same category as the other non winners - worth seeing again , but not in contention. They seem more interested in ensuring that the competition between the winners looks a real one, and are marking, choregraphing, and focused, accordingly.”
Agree with this - her solo skating is absolutely fine, I just think there are some who can't see past her first series. And the dull routine this week did nothing to help.
I wonder if the 'save me skate' is being choreographed by the pro-partners and celebs the way it was last year instead of by T&D? That maybe why her SO skate 2 weeks ago looked so much better with great lifts.
Andrei is a figure skating club coach in Billingham - he will be well used to having to choreograph 90 sec routines (and if he coaches NISA level 3 and above they will be longer than that) from scratch for his pupils, showcasing their abilities and strengths.
I'm sure the majority of pros on have the ability to choreograph a 90 sec routine, they should have more input.
