I am VERY tired of the name dropping.

If he's had a fascinating life or incredible stories, he's shown no sign of it so far.

And if I found such things at all interesting, I'd read celeb biographies, not hope a bit was said sometime during a reality show.

It is just like watching the C5 series The Farm again, In that Lionel name dropped all the time and banged on about the good old days, before showing his true self a moaning nasty old man I cannot wait as it will happen.....

Same! He's a total fraud and a phoney, the house will soon pick up on who he really is. He's probably bitter about his lack of success and irrelevance - all he has left is names to drop into conversation... sad!

OMG - what have I missed? Who is he really? Surely it's not someone masquerading as poor old Lionel is it?

I'm talking in terms of his success, and that he isn't what he's made out to be.

Well if he's telling stories about his career, do you expect him to say Singer #1 and Actress X? For me, Lionel could namedrop the entire Hollywood Walk of Fame and I'd find it more interesting than the Lee & Casey, Dappy & Whatever storylines.

Don't be silly. Of course he's famous and a household name. I know that you're not old enough to remember but the man was famous back in the day and regularly on TV. Never a MEGA star but he is/was well known.

Oh please, come on people show some compassion the guy is 82 what else but your past has he to talk about? Also he must feel very irrelevant compared to the new lot of celebs I guess he is just justifying his position why not name drop I know I would in that situation.

If he told interesting, or even substantial, stories, he wouldn't have time to drop so many names.

It just comes across as incredibly desperate and pathetic.

He is the sort of person who thinks he is Mr Showbiz but really is just pure fake cheese.

I think he is loathesome and more of a ligger than some of the younger housemates who have time to possibly prove themselves.

What has he ever really done?

my thoughts entirely - and why not ? the guy's got a huge back catalogue of working with some of the industry's greats, and he is 82, he's going to reflect on and talk about who he's worked with, it's natural - the older we get the more we talk about the best time of our lives and the people in it, which for him would be when he was working lots and in his heyday ! I doubt however, many in the house will even know some of the names he drops ! but love hearing about his stories and experiences with showbusiness names !

I know right!? He's just a second-rate lounge act!!

Lionel's name dropping makes me like him even more. I am looking forward to the Frank Sinatra encounter next.

You have to be joking surely. He has had a seriously successful career. He was a mainstay of TV and theatre for donkey's years and in films too. He was the Louis Smith and Craig Revel Horwood of his day rolled into one, popped up all over the place. He did Royal Variety every other year it would appear. Oh and he saved a man's life too just a few years ago.

You may not have heard of him but he was a household name for years and even now is far better known than half the people in the house.

The only thing in there that impresses me is that he (along with someone else) saved a man's life.

Craig Revel Horwood isn't all that big a deal, so Lionel being the CRH of his day impresses me not at all.

He'll be name dropping Marie Antoinette and Queen Victoria next. "They were avid fans of mine, I knew them on a personal level."

Well I'm glad I'm not on my own here. I can see that he may well be boring the youngsters .......I do think he'll over do it and end up annoyiing the rest of the HM's. But ......he's a luvvie - it's seriously doing my head in to see people dismissing his career simply because they are too young to have heard of him. He has earned his place in there far more than those who have flashed their bits and bobs or slept with someone famous or had five minutes of fame on a reality show.

I'm all for a bit of diversity in the house - there is room for a variety of housemate's. Being unneecessarily rude and dismissive of people because they're not on someones's radar is simply ignorant.

I kinda like his rambling, going nowhere stories... He reminds me of a barking old uncle of mine

I know right, he's like that Charlie from that old BB I can't remember. Kieran Richardson's cousin who kept going on about how she was at parties with Frank Lampard and whoever else

It's not interesting that you shared a 10 second convo with a celeb that's been irrelevant for decades, bringing up the subject constantly just comes across as desperate

My point was not to liken him to CRH in terms of fame, LB was far more famous in his day. What I meant and I should have made clearer (apologies) was that in the 60's, 70's and 80's he was the go to dance person. If an TV programme wanted a dancer either to dance, to teach someone to dance, to comment on dance whatever ten to one it would have been Lionel that was rolled out.

I do agree with you on one thing though Veri - So far his anecdotes have lacked substance which has been disappointing.
