Bonnie "Don't let me go" Langford

Late to the party but just watching it on catchup.

Bonnie skated on her own for about 15 seconds then was held ALL the way through the routine yet again.

Some things just don't change.

A lot of the female celebs are the same, not just Bonnie

I'd rather have Bonnie than Hayley - she just irritates me

You mean she skated on her own for the same amount of time Hayley and Jorgie did?

Were we watching the same show?

In her first routine Bonnie skated a heck of a lot on her own..... The skate off routine isn't the one to judge her skill on as in Series one - where that routine was from, (and I'd have been the first to agree with you) she was pushed, pulled and lifted to the nth degree......

She skated her first routine beautifully - and her high mark was justified - the skate off doesn't do her current level of actual skating expertise justice - even though it still looked beautiful!

Bonnie was a last minute replacement in series 1 which is why her basic skating in that series wasn't too good, however her skating has improved greatly as was shown in her first routine.

Your comment would have been valid in series 1 but not this series IMO.

Unfortunately I think you and others will judge Bonnie on series 1 where, having come in as a late replacement, she was always trying to play catch up with her solo skills. imo Chris and Jayne, took the easy option when the routines choreographed for the diminutive, flexible showgirl and her tall partner relied entirely on spectacular lifts.

Since then Bonnie has kept up her skating and it shows.

Try to erase series 1 from the mind and judge her on the here and now.

Bonnie can skate.

I like Bonnie. I think that she is very good.

I thought she did no more or less solo skating than the other ladies and enough to show she can do it. Not sure any of the others could have pulled off Bonnie's final lift in her Save Me Skate either.

Beyond doing the couple of tours that she was in Bonnie has not kept up with her skating and she said that herself I think in the VT that she had not skated in a long time or words to that effect.

She has improved and while I'm not a fan as such I don't dislike her but don't get the Bonnie hype as I think like Matt last year she is not as good as the judges want us to believe she is.

You don't have to - if we all agreed the whole show would be pointless.

I thought it was the routine she did with Matt in the Champion of Champions Special one Christmas a couple of years later. Hence her saying "I fell the first time" (which she did) in that show. But it went over Pip's head anyway.

I LOVE Bonnie, anyone who thinks she's taking the easy option is mistaken, and why shouldn't any performer play to their strengths? She's amazing. It's not exactly easy to pull off those incredible Lifts, much better than some pros. In Skating the female is not just a dead weight, she has to push up as the man lifts her and hit those gymnastic positions in the air, looking elegant, with extension and a smile, all the while knowing if Andrei's blade hits a rut in the ice she'll come tumbling down hard. Not only excellent, but very brave. And don't forget she's 49!! I *bow* to her.

I haven't checked youtube (not much there if I recall) or what I have from series 1, to see if that music was used then too , but that skate off routine was, as you say, based on the same one Bonnie did in the 2007 Champions special. On Sunday it was a shorter version, and had less skating, and fewer lifts, and fewer tricks accordingly. I don't think it had the spins both ways she did then, but it ends on an even bigger version of one lift she did then. I think the one handed spinning lift she did was something Andrei did with Clare? Andrei may add options like that, as he's got the power to match her dance skill.

It looks as if the skate off routines will be edited, and modified versions of past best routines? Makes things even more complicated - as you not only have an issue who has a good routien to redo, but who changes it to the best effect.
