I didn't know we had had peace for the last 50 years either, I guess the falklands war, vietnam, korean war, Iraq & Afghanistan etc were all peaceful occasions.

It's highly unlikely there will ever be world peace in the sense that there will never be any more conflicts and we will all live in complete harmony. But they aren't nuclear wars which is the topic.

Unless you include the use of depleted uranium shells which were enthusiastically dropped upon Iraq.

Absolute ignorance.

The same companies sell the weapons to BOTH SIDES. Just like in wars the same bankers fund both sides. It is all a game.

Fair point; though it's still not a full-scale nuclear war. Dirty bombs have the potential to seriously compromise the health of future generations and the US should be more vigorously taken to task on their use.

Have you noticed so called 'environmentalists' who happen to be celebs NEVER challenge the authorities on wars, depleted uranium etc even though that is a major issue for the environment? No they would rather target the general public with carbon taxes so their masters can get trillions.

I am alluding to a total nuclear war. The kind where if I push the button you will also.

It a deterrent in that kind of way.

A bit like and excuse this example......I would think twice about socking Evender on the chin as I know what the consequences could be. Therefore he would be my deterrent to try and keep the peace.

I think we'd all know (even Lee Ryan might have noticed) if there'd been a nuclear war, but it hasn't been the great deterrent to conflicts that it's sold as. It's just big business and global smoke and mirrors shenanigans.

If you don't like my opinion that is absolutely fine. There is no need to be insulting.

You should learn to respect others opinions, even if they differ from your own.

Indeed. When the rich wage war it's the poor that die. War is a racket. Both sides are working together.

Churchill was a eugenicist funded by the same people who funded Hitler but i digress.

We stop wars by telling our representatives we don't want them. Syria was avoided just and warmonger like John Kerry are still pushing for it. ALL wars are planned decades in advance for specific goals.

£200 billion on weapons goes to where? ELITISTS who control weapon companies; the same people who control the private banks. War is great for them.

I don't respect anyone who wants to fund weapons or wage war.

Who funds them? Where do their weapons come from? Is there a manufacturer in a cave somewhere?

It may shock you to learn it isn't actually me who is funding or waging war.

I'm merely giving my own opinion on the subject. Therefore, I suggest you inform those that are making these funding decisions etc to 'get real' and not myself personally.

Michael - with the greatest of respect; you're veering way off the point here. The real concern at the moment is black market trading of existing weapons. Nuclear weapons are rarely used; so there's no great need for renewed manufacture. Security of existing weapon stocks is much more important; and most worrying is the depletion of the taboo - particularly in relation to non-state actors. The governments of the West have little or no control over this illegal trade in weapons.

There are certainly dealers in caves; and manufacturers of chemical weapons. But, as I said, off the point of nuclear deterrence.

The public need to know WE have power; when we say jump the politicians should jump. It is about time people started to realize that and not accept what they are spoon fed.

There is a book you should read 'War is a racket'.

Sorry if the harsh words 'get' and 'real' caused some emotional anguish and pain.

The people there are condition to be tame and obedient. We are being conditioned to which is exactly why i like outrageous comics, TV shows etc. PC is not there to help protect anyone; it exists to limit our expression of our views.

Really? Come on now. It is not off the point. Nuclear weapons make money; huge amounts of money. War is a racket. That is it.
