Did anyone else notice Lee's reaction to some potentially interesting discussion of the global division of wealth and good fortune? I was going to ask if all 'young people' are quite so uninterested in the world around them; but he's not even that young!

I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but I'd like to see a bit more of Jim, Linda, Liz and Ollie having conversations that don't revolve around motorboating and the size of Nappy's willy.

I wondered if he was escaping before he said something that would get him into trouble.

Rather than being uninterested

I've got a lifelong aversion to anyone who complains about others being "too deep" like Lee did at the first sign of intelligent conversation. How about, you're shallow, mate. Or a bit thick.

It's taken me years to realise that the right response to being accused of "thinking too much" like it's a bad thing, is to say "or maybe you don't think enough".

OMG Patsy, I do agree with you. Thank goodness my grandsons are very interested in the world around us and what is happening.

I agree, I found their conversation interesting.

Can see both sides.

Religion and politics is generally something that should be avoided in public forums such as big brother. It can and will get heated. If i were to go into the big brother house, they'd be one of the last things id want to talk about.

But on the flip side, he could just be uninterested in politics in general.

We dont know, doesnt require a thread really.

It was the best part of the episode.

Agree with you 100%

Don't get this view at all. Politics is the very fabric of society. You can't have an interesting discussion really without a bit of politics.

I disagree. It's throwaway comments like that by Lee that give us insights into people's thinking (or lack of it). To see known people discussing things we wouldn't normally see in their day jobs is what makes it interesting.

Quite agree with you on that one. I like to see a everyone having a bit of fun and nonsense, but I also like to see how they interact with each other on topics that aren't revolving around knockers, sex and willies.

Lee's always been portrayed in the media as someone with a keen interest in animal welfare and social issues. Remember his inarticulate ramblings shortly after the 9/11 attacks where he said that we should all forget about the horrors of what happened in New York and instead think about Whales (that's the animal, not the country). He also made a royal tit of himself on Hell's Kitchen when he got offended over Marco Pierre White's use of the word "pikey", now that is an offensive word of course, but. Lee couldn't articulate why he was so offended by it.

He's a pillock. Thick as the day is long and as shallow as a puddle.

It's almost embarrassing to see someone pretty much run away from any conversation that may have a little more depth to it than say chatting about Dappy's 3rd leg.

Completely agree with you OP.

Yes you can, as long as your intelligent/cultured enough. Its not that difficult.

Say a housemate suddenly states theyre a staunch conservative, and look down on those who are given money by the state, and believes there arent enough jobs for british people due to immigration etc, that person has just alienated themselves from certain demographics of the public. Yeah, sure, its interesting to talk about, but not the wisest thing to talk about on a gameshow youre trying to win, in which the public ultimately decide if you do or not.

Same with religion.

The problem with Lee is he's thick and ignorant.

Well see I think you can find a lot about people from just hearing them talk about those things.

Yes, if Davidson just told jokes, Nolan kept bursting into song and Lionel tap danced around the kitchen it would just be a parody / pantomime (the talentless slappers being plastic slappery and Dappy in the role of schoolboy obsessed with his dick are the only parts that crew are capable of playing, apparently).
It's seeing people discussing things outside their performance zone that makes CBB interesting.

Hiding his ignorance rather than displaying it?

A wise move.

This guy has been on charity fundraisers like Children in Need.
I am probably a little more cynical than most as I often wonder if even half of the celebrities taking part in charidee events do it because they're genuinely altruistic and sincerely care about other people's problems in the world who are less fortunate than most of us.

Turns out that this guy seems to be a vain self-centered arse who is only concerned with things that please himself, and apparently doesn't give a flying fart about the world outside his over-bloated ego.
Syrian refugees appear to be too boring for him as far as he's concerned.

That's not necessarily a bad thing.
It's probably more worthwhile than arguing over who ate the last of the Frosties.

If you have beliefs and convictions then you should feel strong enough to voice those opinions without feeling afraid of how others might see you.

I think it's a good thread because it reveals something about one of the housemates and what makes them tick.
It opens up questions about the integrity of a housemate which is what this forum tends to be about.
