I am sad to see so many negative comments on this forum. For me the real killer for this show as with so many others on commercial TV is just the amount of adverts. Yes you can skip through them when recorded but it isn't the same as sitting down to watch the show real time. It also means the show is totally geared around the adverts and therefore any comments or interactions are constantly cut short, you lose continuity.

I was so looking forward to this last series, i think it is a crying shame they took the decision to loose couples without seeing everyone skate first. Jorgie is a perfect example of DOI trying to be clever, and why try a rating booster when you have already pulled the plug.

So i am sad, i have loved watching the highs and lows of contestants trying to perfect such a difficult sport, sometimes with more ease than others, but always with joy.

But it dug its own grave by going for twists, and this latest business with Jorgie being set up was like digging a grave with a mechanical digger.

I doubt you're in the minority - I think most of us fans are sad to see it go, but the negativity around the posts and topics is people expressing their dislike at all the things that have inevitably led to the end of the show. Of course there are a few which are just bitching for the sake of bitching (The Jason topics usually for one) and would be there if the show had declined or not, but overall there's a reason for the current feeling as there's so much about the show to pick holes in!

I only hope ice dancing returns in some form on primetime TV because I'm sure they can do other things with it. God knows there's been enough dance shows.

I will miss it too. Gutted as finally have someone in the house to watch it with me (my daughter) funnily enough my son and hubby were not too keen.

I will look back on Dancing On Ice with fond memories & hopefully some more to come this year but I think it's ending at the right time. Better that than it limping on for another few years dying a long painful death.

At one point I think there was the suggestion that it might carry on without T&D - at that time I was wondering if maybe Katarina might be interested in doing it along with Brian Boitano, who is a close friend of hers and who she has show skated with quite a bit.

The show has failed with Torvill And Dean, god only knows how poor ratings would be without them.

Much as this might be controversial perhaps them staying around so long might have been part of the problem? Many of us are fans from when they were competing but a lot of viewers only knew them from DOI and may have welcomed a change, though I recognise it would be a difficult exercise to replace them?

I think a fair few wil miss it, even those that like to moan about it. I've always found it a good watch. there are other of these type of programmes I'd rather see the back of than DOI.

I'm sad to see it end too, I have some fond memories of the earlier series. I just wish they hadn't ruined it all with the ridiculous twists and production decisions

The reason why SCD has been successful enough to last 11 years is that any prat can dance. If you can walk; if you can put one foot in front of the other you are already under way. If you can imagine the very basic moves taught on Day 1 in the training room to the celebrity, if you peel the layers of the basics to an even more primeval level from there you will find (I do anyway) the very and most primitive skill is walking. Which humans have done for centuries. Dancing is, I find, just walking in an artistic way where parts of your body are used and not just the feet.

Moving on ice on nothing more than two metal plates is not an inherent skill humans have been doing for centuries. It takes time to master just the very rudiments of that. Then you have to add in leaping, twisting and turning your body.
