Well I love the "Paternoster Gang" even though I'd never heard of it before now! That threesome are a loveable trio to join the Doctor (now and again....like UNIT in the 70's!)
It can get a bit stale with just the Doctor and his companion, why not have a laugh with the "Charlies Angels" of 2014? They don't have to appear all the time - just the odd appearance! Captain Jack did the same.

when will the powers that be see the obvious demand for the paternoster spin off series. I honestly think the only reason it hasn't been made is because moffat has too much on his plate already, as he obviously wants to write the characters, seeing as they popped up about four times in the last half series alone and are in ep 1 of series 8

Well they could have them in some minisodes linking up like the Pond Life minisodes ect.
They could be like 5min each and be able to join up later say on the DVD/BluRay to one or two full episodes.
They could fit in with a main Dr Who series so they are part of the budget ect.

yeah, that would be something at least. I also think they could carry a whole episode though if it comes to the point where they need to do one of those doctor-lite episode's again, heck that would be a doctor-lite ep where it wouldn't even feel like we were missing out much

An excellent idea. Whilst I don't think that there's really enough scope for a full series featuring Vastra, Jenny and Strax, the occasional Doctor-Lite episode could work very well indeed. The Crimson Horror seems almost like a tester for this, with Matt and Jenna not appearing for the first 15 minutes or so, and VJS carrying the show very well indeed.

exactly my point. though in that episode you were kind of wondering when the doctor would show because you knew beforehand that he was in it but if it had been stated before the episode had aired that it was a doctor lite or complete no doctor story and it started as it had but vastra, jenny and strax had solved it on their own then i think it would still have been as good as it was, even though I usually shudder at the suggestion of more doctor lite episodes.there just so entertaining to watch

We have a Paternoster at the University of Essex. It is a moving lift in the Library.

Paternoster lifts are called that because they are on a continuous loop; it's a reference to the way Rosary beads are used to say the Our Father (Pater noster).

See Vopiscus' post #17.

We have a Schindler at work.

Schindler's Lift, as we call it.

They were very common in the Abram's Building (the I.G Farban Building) in Frankfurt. I was stationed there in the early 1980's as a MP and had to respond occasionally when someone would trip and get stuck in the lift, usually with a limb stuck out trapped and we had to back off the lift and get them out. Usually they needed medical help at that point.

I had to ride them every so often all away around to check for graffiti. Always worried that they would get stuck.

I suppose they are more trouble than they are worth?
Im sure that safety features like sensors across the doorways, could stop the lift if someone still had a limb or something sticking out!

I wonder how many episodes they'll appear in Series 8. We know they're in the first episode but I say they'll appear in at least one or two more.

hopefully in an episode with river. liked seeing her with them briefly in name of the doctor and think If she was to be in a full story with them around, she and vastra would be a formidable pair. In fact they'd probably team up to nag the doctor about the best course of action in whatever situation they were in, and while the three of them squabbled, they could show bonding between jenny and clara, all the while with strax going along, spouting his hilarious one liners

One is too many. I hate them, especially 'Cor blimey, guv'nor ow's ya apples n' pears' Jenny. I'd hoped that with Capaldi we'd see an end to their childish drivel but it seems not. To think they're in Capaldi's very first episode too! What a disappointment.
