If you did it to someone in the street or without knowing if they'd be happy with you doing it, yes it would be rude and offensive.
As the person in question was dressed as an alien for a task in Big Brother, I'm sure they would have known there was a risk of 'audience participation' from individuals of somewhat questionable intelligence, so I'm not entirely sure I can get too worked up about it... |

I doubt the person in question got offended considering they had already agreed to dress up as a tiny alien.

The point is they picked up an ADULT human being and carried him. The fact that the ADULT was small was the ONLY reason they did so.
They did not pick up the average sized (or taller) human being. It is not ok to pick up ANY adult without their consent...why do some people find this so hard to understand? |

An actress dresses up as a prostitute for a part. Does that mean she's agreed to let random people on set touch her arse? (outside of specific mentions in a script, I mean, which she'd know about ahead of time)
I never said dressing up for the part gave anyone the right to pick them up. My point was that I would find it hard to imagine that the person is sensitive about his or her size if they were happy to dress up as a tiny alien. |

Can we be sure it wasn't a child in that suit? I thought it was.

You won't believe it, but this place used to be *the* place to come to have banter. You could be cheeky and borderline insulting in the way that promotes bonding in that "I'm comfortable enough with you to call you a fat-armed sea-hag" way. And people would get that instead of calling 0800-HATE-CRIMES.

To the people saying they wouldn't care if they were picked up in the context of that Big Brother task, presumably your not that small, so wouldn't have any sensitivity about being picked up like a child.
But I guess pointing this out makes me devoid of joy and humour. |

It could be. If it is people will start making accusations of paedophilia against Jasmine and Luisa.

Even though the is in costume, under contract, and embedded in a role, there's still a real person under there. Forgetting that and dismissing it as inherently unimportant is just cold and inhuman.
In the real world, It might not be acceptable too go around picking people up left right and center. But the BB house isn't the real world and they were taking part in a fun task. I bet they didn't even think about it. It's stupid that this has created such a reaction. Way too big of a deal out of nothing and too call someone cold and inhuman just because they don't think the guy in the suit minded is ridiculously stuck up IMO. I'm guessing he knew they were joking. |

Well, I know I wouldn't give a sh*t if someone picked me up, whether it was in a task or in real life. As long as their not trying too harm me, what's the big deal?

In any case, the forum used to have many fewer people posting, and so people would more often be dealing with someone they knew fairly well in forum terms, so that they could be comfortable with each other. |

As Bob Dylan once wrote:
Black people aren't crazy, fat people aren't lazy And dwarfs aren't babies You can't just pick 'em up, they got rights And anyway don't assume you could, they're not light I learnt the hard way |
