Was slightly disappointed last night. We should have been three or more up in the first half. After Soldados goal you could visably see his confidence grow and it was lovely to watch - he was trying overhead kicks and everything!
After we conceded we just werent the same, and it's such a shame as if we had capitalised on our early dominance we could have looked to rest key players again next week and then play a full strength team for the final.

As it stands, to me the Europa is more important than the cup, so i'd play a strong team next week. Hopefully with our current fitness standards theyll be able
to bring it on Thursday and again on Sunday, but as much as i'd love to win the Capital One Cup, which of course we are only one game away from doing whereas we are still a long way to go with the Europa, I do think we need to prioritise the Europa.

Of course ideally itll be both

Just been reported Archway have lost their appeal. Whip round on Sunday for their legal costs anyone?

Great news about the court case, although it still might not be over - the judge has refused them leave to appeal but they can apparently approach the appeal court directly which you know they're going to do.

They've been at this for ten years so a few more weeks and months putting together a direct appeal will be water off a duck's back to them.

Their goal was a bit of luck with Loris punching the ball onto their guy's back and it falling perfectly for Basanta. Once they changed to a 4-5-1 formation at half time we struggled to break them down.”

I think Fiorentina will certainly be in the driving seat in the return leg. They will have a better idea of how to play against us now and we not be be adle to play a strong squad because of the LC final on Sunday. I have a feeling that is where this year's Europa exploits will end.

Apparently Archway have 21 days in which to apply directly to the Court of Appeal.

The weird and wacky world of Tim Sherwood .. comparing himself to Pep Guardiola, while still bragging about his win percentage

Quote:
“Sherwood, 46, said: “I don’t think anyone’s managed to better my win record, even this guy *Pochettino, and *everyone’s talking about how well he’s done.

“It’s all about man-management, how to get the most out of players, and I did that at Tottenham because my record suggests I did.

“I think Pochettino has done a really good job there, but mine’s still up there to be shot at. Experience is overrated. If it was all about experience Wayne Rooney wouldn’t play for Everton at 16.

“Guardiola didn’t have to go out and work in the lower leagues, did he? It helps when you have the best players in the world. Don’t get me wrong!

“But not everyone has to take the same pathway. I am grateful for the opportunity here and I will give it everything.””

I read that and thought that he is in danger of becoming a laughing stock. Tim needs to get his head down and earn his inflated salary at Villa first before he can even think about comparing himself to a mid-table manager let alone a world class one.

Completely agree. He's now taking credit for Harry Kane as well. I'll give him part of that, because of his connections with the youth side, but I bet in his mind, it's more than that.

With United losing today. it could make things very interesting if we can beat the Spammers tomorrow and Liverpool beat Southampton

5th, 6th and 7th would all stay the same due to goal difference, but Liverpool would open up a 7 point gap on the Spammers and Southampton and Spurs would both have 8 points on them which is a nice gap at this stage of proceedings.

It would also close the gap on the top 4 and move us to within 2 points of 3rd place as well.

Which obviously means that the Spammers will nick a 1-0 win in injury time ..

Matic will miss the final after his red card today.

Love a win tomorrow and a draw at Southampton vs. Liverpool.

I was elsewhere this week but, from what I could see, we had about 6 changes for the Thursday Cup - bodes well for tomorrow, at least.

If we do win, it'll put us 4 points off the Holy Grail of a 2-point match average. Very nice.

Sherwood is just the most enormous dic*h*ad. Really.

Well, fwiw I'm going for goals; 3-0 and home win over 3 goals.

Interesting selection. Dier alongside Jan which I'm happy with. Townsend retains his place as well and Eriksen starts on the bench. Makes me wonder if Poch is, to channel my inner pundit, 'wrapping him in cotton wool' to ensure he's fit and available for the cup final.

Yep, it's what now seems to be the first 11 except Townsend for Eriksen.

Mason/Bentaleb - BOOM!

Need the usual team in the usual positions after ht.

First time I've been able to watch us live for about 3-4 weeks. So far, I am not seeing anything I like about the selected team. We are being overrun in midfield and our passing has been awful. Townsend and Lamela are not contributing anything, Dembele keeps turning into trouble because those ahead of him are not giving him any options. Mason and Bentaleb are fighting a losing battle in the centre. Walker is causing us problems on the right hand side because of his poor decisions. Also, noting that Lloris seems to be staying on his line a lot more and not commanding the area.

Hopefully, Poch will make some early changes as at this rate it's just too easy for West Ham.

Got slightly distracted by a friend of mine ringing about 20 minutes in who doesn't like football and insisted on chatting ..

Anyway, did seem like they got the goal against the run of play but then we haven't looked like we can find a way through their midfield either. Allardyce did this last time though - packed the midfield and caused us problems.

I still don't think Dembele is a proper number 10 either. he's had some good games in that position but he needs one or two more touches than you really should have in that position.

Here's hoping Poch can work something out at half time.

Unfortunately, all that game proved to me again is what a bang average squad we have. Sooner this season is over the better as there are not many of our players worth persevering with as the quality just isn't there.

We absolutely robbed West Ham there. Thank goodness for that.

Wet Sham are going to be very, very upset. Which is almost worth two points.

Not good though. Poch underestimated Big Sam, who did a job on us again.

Big Sam really knows how to stop us playing, thank god we were able to get the goals back at the death, nab a point and maintain the gap from West Ham. We really do need some more creative options in the team for when others don't have any ideas.

Here's to Liverpool not beating Southampton later so we can maintain our table position.

That part alone sums it up perfectly I think.

If we're to take any positives from the game at all, I think coming away with a 2-2 after being 2-0 with 10 minutes to go has to be it really.

At least we're done with the Spammers this season I suppose.
