What's the betting on Utd clicking into gear this weekend? Our defensive frailties worry me as we leave so much space at times that I can foresee a Rooney hatrick!

Stop Rooney and Utd don't have much of a goal threat, though I think the key will be which team bosses midfield.

Looking forward to seeing how our U21s get on tonight against a Man Utd U21s that contains Valdes, Rafael, Wilson and Falcao. KO at 7pm.

This is brilliant news if it turns out to be true ..

Quote:
“Tottenham are increasingly confident of keeping captain Hugo Lloris - even if they miss out on the Champions League once more.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper signed a new five-year contract last summer but it was widely believed he might consider his future if they fail to finish in the top four again after coming fifth in his debut campaign of 2012-13 and sixth last season.

Spurs are currently sixth with 10 games to go, but are just three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United

However, France international Lloris is happy in London, his wife and family are settled in the capital and the French No1 has indicated he wants to stay.”

With Kaboul and Ade likely to be sold in the summer, I'd bet my house on Poch making Hugo the full club captain if he does decide to stay.

1-1 - good results for the U21s at Old Trafford.

Love the above, cant say enough good things about Hugo.

no idea whatsoever what Poch was smoking when he made Kaboul and Adebayor captain, to be honest, when Vertonghen and Lloris were the obvious choices.

Yep, such a strange decision at the time when there were more obvious candidates.

I'm sure I read he couldn't make his mind up so allowed the players to hold a vote as to who they wanted.

Not so sure i believe it, but it's plausible I suppose, considering who was actually chosen over the more obvious candidates.

I assume Kaboul getting it was partly to do with the position he plays, and the fact he is one of our senior, longest serving players. Seeing the way the rest of the team reacted to Kaboul in his last couple of appearances, I struggle to believe he got it simply on a vote from them. Ade I can believe they may have wanted as vice-captain, as he does seem to be quite popular amongst the squad.

I wouldn't have had either though. It would have been Lloris all day long for me.

On Lloris, I've always thought he'd stay. His situation is different in that he was already rated highly, and left a club who are regularly in the Champions League to join us. If Champions League was the main draw, then why leave Lyon? He didn't need to use us to raise his profile in the way the likes of Berba and Modric did. He's a no frills players and person, he keeps quite a low profile in his personal life. His wife uses social media and seems very happy and settled here, and they've not long had another child. Also add in the fact it's different with keepers. I don't see any club coming in and breaking the bank to get him in the way Madrid did for Bale. So I would be genuinely shocked if he did leave.

weren't Lloris and Vertoghen half way out the door when he needed to appoint the captain - Vertoghen to Spain, for example, if rumours were correct. People were still in Sherwood induced shock coming into this season.

I get the feeling it's only now they've seen Poch in action, and they've bought into the project, things have changed. If the mood around Kaboul has changed so it has around Vertoghen especially, but also Lloris. All so upbeat now with the yoof, it must be pretty infectious around the training ground these days.

Of course, you could argue Sherwood started the ball rolling with his belief in Bentelab and Kane ... I'm not sure too many would have taken those gambles.

Lloris half way out the door? He signed a new deal in July and was made one of the vice-captains.

I have no issue with Jan not being captain. By defualt, he'd be a vice-captain though.

Can't remember the exact story but it came down to Poch choosing who he believed to be the most popular of the more senior players. Kaboul was one of the vice captains to Dawson under Sherwood, so I suppose he may of been seen as a natural successor. Lloris though, is the captain of France and Vertonghen was previously captain at Ajax, so to me both would have been better candidates.

Anyway I'm sure with the current situation surrounding Kaboul and Ade that Poch will have to sort this out for next season.

It's finally over .. finally

“The Club has received confirmation that Archway Steel will not be applying to the Court of Appeal for permission to appeal the High Court's decision last month to refuse their legal challenge of the Compulsory Purchase Order.”

We still have to agree compensation with Archway. They could go to court over this if they are not happy with the amount offered!

Could they though ?

I'm no expert, but I can't see how they could have a case against the club for undervaluing the site.

But then would it even hold things up ?. The compulsory purchase order is now in full effect so they've got to go. Surely negotiations could still take place while work starts on the site ?

If it's a compulsory purchase, it's independently valued.

There's another one i've seen of the whole area that shows where Archway is as well and it's quite striking how this one 'tiny' building has stopped the whole project for so long.

I imagine they can still cause problems by digging their heels in and refusing to accept the club's compensation package, which I wouldn't be surprised to hear, but then with the CPO, i wonder if we can basically force the issue either way ?

I can't really see an avenue for them to launch further action against the club after this decision.

Of course ..... then
Swansea win on Monday against Liverpool
Liverpool draw 0-0 with Man Utd on the 22nd and
Arsenal draw with Liverpool 0-0 on 4th April

all the while making sure we win our games preferably by 2 of 3 goals to 0 each time

Yup, that's all totally going to happen

City's loss to Burnley unfortunately opens up the possibility of the Arses finishing second I suppose. But then considering top 4 was apparently already pre-ordained before the season started, I can't imagine they'll be that fussed ..

At least it ensures the "Wenger Out/Wenger In" merry-go-round goes on for a while longer
