Interesting snippet from the latest THST meeting with Levy and Co on transfer policy. The Club stated they feel most business will be done in the £10-£15m range as that's where they are most comfortable.

Also, our team of talent spotters are responsible for players from age 8 up through and including the senior squad.

So, if anyone was thinking we are going to splash upwards of £20m on one player this summer that now seems unlikely. It's obvious that our focus is on players who are still establishing themselves as is the case with Wimmer.

tbf, we haven't got a great record on splashing out .. starting at Rebrov, stopping off at Pavlyuchenko, Bent and Bentley before arriving at the win double of Soldado and Lamela.

We can go down that route again once some of the stadium debt is paid down - we'll be printing our own money at that point.

Looks like we have agreed to part fund Adebayor's wages in order to offload him this Summer. He will not move for anything less than £100k per week and his contract doesn't run out until the end of the season 2016. A loan move seems more likely at the moment.

^We really should have taken the hint when City were willing to part fund his wages when we got him. I can't wait for him to be someone else's problem.

tbf, some of us did. It's just disappointing Levy bought into his guff.

I did find the comments from the THST meeting interesting. The media interpreted it as "Levy slams AVB and Baldini". I suppose the transfer "cap" is in line with the change in policy of promoting from within and not actually signing anyone who would potentially stand in the way of any such promotion.

I suppose if Mitchell is as good as we've been led to believe, we won't necessarily have ot lash out large transfer fees anyway if he's identified some decent targets.

As far as the hatstand goes, I have to say I've got a weirdly grudging respect for him in a way if he's maneuvered another club in to subsidising his wages just to get rid of him.

As mercenaries go, he's really up there with the best of them.

Brilliant - fingers crossed we'll be up to 5th tomorrow.

Probably still 6 points off Man Utd (unless they're super-flakey vs. Villa) but if we are consistent that's doable.

Definitely need a good result against Burnley tomorrow!

Yeah definitely. I can't see Timmy Tactics getting anything from Old Trafford, but a draw would be handy.

Liverpool still have to play Chelsea as well so there's certainly more potential for dropped points.

To be honest, I'm not really expecting the top four now but that doesn't mean I don't think we've still got an outside chance because we have, so I'll certainly be up for that possibility at least.

Oh totally. It's like backing the outsider of four for a bit of interest.

But it is football, and it is a funny old game

Man U still have City, Arsenal and Chelsea to play. We can still do it if we just do what we're supposed to do in our remaining games.

As they say it's not over till the fat lady sings so we've still got an outside chance! Would be a good time for United and Southampton to drop a few points today.

5th place in the offing if we can beat Burnley tomorrow after Liverpool and Southampton lost today.

If City's poor form continues, we might end up chasing them down for the 4th spot - who'd have thought that at the start of the season ?

Can't see them having too much trouble against Palace, but then it's United after that.

I think City will drop points on Monday. I can't see us catching them though, they'll step it up when necessary. If we're gonna do this, it'll be at Man U's expense, not City's.

We just have to win today. Fwiw, I hate to step into Sherwood country but 'energy' will play a big factor today - Burnley will run around like their arse is on fire. Potentially problematic for our mid-table defence.

Yeah we've always had problems with teams that just run at us like that so its not going to be pretty. Hopefully we can nick an early goal and at least try to settle some nerves

Paulinho and Chiriches in the starting 11?

We're so screwed .. actually, on current form the whole back four fills me with terror

Just when you think theres nothing that could get better for Kane - he leads the side out as captain!

I really hope he is savouring every bit of this as much as he can....things will NEVER get any better for him than they are now. I'll bet my house on it.

Vorm, Walker, Chiriches, Dier, Rose; Bentaleb, Mason; Chadli, Eriksen, Paulinho; Kane

It's a defence to strike terror into the hearts of a Ryman League Div 2 attack.

Paulinho behind Kane, I guess. Busy days for Mason/Benelab.

Could well see Kane as third in line next season for the captain's role I suppose. I can see Hugo being named captain and maybe Jan as vice captain but Kane could certainly be a worthy third choice if the other two are unavailable

I keep reminding myself his first premiership start was in November. November. Never in all my days ...

I see divvy Robbie Savage thinks he should be PFA Player of the Year - both versions.

Hope Kane has his scoring boots on today as can't see us keeping a clean sheet with that back 4. Here's hoping....

Daft decision IMO. The fact a player is scoring goals doesn't suddenly warrant him being given the arm-band, no matter the circumstances.

After seeing that team-sheet, I'm fully expecting our faint Top 4 dream to end by 3:15. tough away game against a team scrapping for their lives, and there's no real experience or leadership in the lineup. I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong, but I'm calling it beforehand so I'm not just being wise after the event.
