U21s has a good result yesterday beating Porto 4-0 to go through to the last eight of the Premiership International Cup. Noticeably Townsend is with the squad as an allowed overage player.

Well I for one love Poch and fully believe he will lead Spurs to win the World Cup.

after levy's sacking of so many managers and the intense scrutiny he is under for hiring and firing the manager we would choose after Tim Sherwood was always going to get so much more breathing space afforded to him than any of his predecessors.

poch has lapped this up and has been very lucky so far

i see a 6th place finish on the horizon

Ok, now list the players that are as good or better to replace Poch's purchases, taking in to account, value for money, affordability, (wage and transfer fee), quality, availability, attitude, and desire to play for Spurs. Should be a piece of cake.

Looks like the first choice 11. Expect a siege with occasional breakouts from NaRRRRRRRwich.

Alderweireld header, anyone?

And a very nice late Christmas prezzie from The Lane

Yep, complete rubbish: joint top scorers in the league, best defence in the league, youngest team in the league, top 4, top of Thursday, superb team performance from front to back, and the Chairman siphoning off money for 5 years to pay for the new 61, 000 stadium.

Poch out!

I'll take that! Things are looking good at the Lane

Good result today and mainly pleased that as soon as we went ahead we didn't really look like we were going to let them back into it. My only general criticism is that we could have, perhaps should have scored more goals but fannied around too much when we got into good positions. The 4 on 1 break we got towards the end summed that up where nobody took responsibility to take it on. Lamela should have been more greedy but that was the only blot on his performance today. Just wish he would trust his right foot more, we know he can do it.

Anyway, in the top 4 at Christmas bodes well. If we can maintain our consistency I can't see any reason why we shouldn't be there or thereabouts at the end. It's a big ask though as we all know.

I see the goons went down 4-0 at the place we produced a "Jekyll and Hyde" performance without "passion" last week.

If only we had their £100 million extra a year to spend.

Were still not finishing top 4.

It's a false dawn I'm afraid.

Poch out in the summer hopefully!!!

You know when you troll a thread, you could at least try to be more creative ..

Anyway, not at home at the moment so had to make do with Match of the Day. Very pleased with the win and even moreso because most of the teams around us either lost or drew so we took full advantage.

Southampton battering the champions-elect was just the cherry on the cake

Yep, a super festive bonus

And so ... Watford. Another phrase I didn't think I'd ever utter: .... not a great time to be playing Watford.

Big job in particular for the defensive midfield but really across the park. Very tricky fixture, hell of a battle.

Elsewhere, a battle of the walking dead at Old Trafford (vs. Chelsea) and on Tuesday, Citch vs. Leicester - any result will do there

Loving this season, and we be only halfway after tomorrow.

I can assure u I'm not a troll.
I have been a Spurs fan since 1985
I personally hate the football were playing,
we're getting results
but I honestly preferred the redknapp days (although he was clueless)
I've been saying the same since August and our ridiculous transfer window non striker buy has not proved as disastrous as I thought.
I'm not about to change my opinion and stand by all I have said.
Everyone look at the final table in May and then see if I have been wrong all this time!

What do you hate most about the football, conceding the fewest goals in the league by virtue of a well-drilled excellently disciplined defence, scoring the equal most with a home grown England striker with the club record for goals scored in a year, or a midfield with a very unusual balance of bite and guile that features another England star? Perhaps you don't like youngsters, this being the youngest team in the league?

Interesting article here on Pochettino for those who might have missed it:

http://twentyminutereads.com/2015/12/27/the-sheriff/

As an aside, anyone worried about the inevitable clamour that is likely to build up in the media about United bidding for Kane and Alli next summer? I have seen many extracts today from their Red Café forum and some of their fans are becoming orgasmic at the thought that they can take Kane, Alli, possibly Dier and Pochettino off us if we don't finish in the top 4. Not only that, there are strong rumours that they are actively seeking to also lure John McDermott away to oversee a complete revamp of their own Academy.

Sure we can sit back and laugh and say to ourselves it'll never happen, but can we be so sure? We know Kane is already being touted by many as England's next saviour and therefore much of the media will want to see him playing for Utd at some point. They certainly have the financial backing to try and you could imagine Levy extracting at least £200m from them in fees and compensation but where would that leave us?

Ultimately, I would like to think it would not happen. As a Club we are on an upwards trajectory and everybody there can see it, feel it and apparently want to be part of it. If and it's a big if at this stage, we get top 4 then players have no reason to leave if football is their main motivation.

Our previous player sales Berbatov, Modric, Bale etc were in effect forced on us by the players themselves agitating for the moves. I think this current crop see things differently but that will only last as long as the Club keeps making progress.

I'm pretty sure we have a unique situation what is going to act as a bulwark. Everyone at Tottenham is invested in a very well-defined project, and that project is both emotional and physical.

These lads are not going to leave Tottenham until after the stadium is built. They see it every week as they drive in. And, at this point, Levy certainly won't take the money.

You might even think what is physically being built - currently around the Paxton Road - as a corollary for what Poch and Levy are building.

Fwiw, I hear we are set for Wembley for one season (excluding the top tier) and also a striker in January, who is probably the West Brom lad.

It's a great time to be alive and at Tottenham. F**k the madness of Manchester, or anywhere else

Really good article there. (I'm back home in case anyone was wondering .. heh ).

I think bids for our players in the summer are almost inevitable - most likely with Kane and Alli being the two main targets. If the bids are big enough it's going to be a scary time really, because if someone comes in with £30 million plus for Kane, the businessman in levy is almost certainly going to be interested.

If Poch does get us in to the top 4 (or even higher..) his stock is going to rise massively as well.

If we can survive the summer window with the squad intact and maybe a few tweaks to bring in some fresh faces (if necessary obviously..), the 16/17 season could really be one of the most exciting we've ever had.
