I'm only really thinking aloud regarding them potentially dropping points and pushing us even closer to securing the top 3 finish.”

I thought we were pretty much guaranteed a top 3 finish if we win tomorrow night?

Won't we be 7 points ahead of both Arsenal and City with 9 to play for? If so, both of them can't actually get 9 points as they both play each other in one of the matches!

Or am I missing something?

Do you guys think Chelsea will throw the Leicester game if Leicester need points to win the title?
As well as not wanting Spurs to win the title, Chelsea fans still have a soft spot for Claudio as well, so it could be a strange game with 99% of the home fans happy to see their team lose.

Nobody connected with Chelsea will want to help Tottenham win the league. I forgot about the Claudio connection on top of that. Spurs need to win their next 3 games and hope Leicester get nothing from their next two. That's the only way they can win the league now. And the chances of Everton winning the Leicester game on current form are very low. I think United will beat Leicester though, but Spurs won't beat Chelsea.

They became a championship winning team overnight so if that's possible, then the opposite should also be possible. But they're not going to repeat this next season.

They're going to struggle to attract some true world class talent so they'll have to hope they can uncover another Mahrez.

*scurries off to the predictor*

You're actually spot on. A win tomorrow night does guarantee a top 3 finish. If we then subsequently lost every game after that, and remained on 71 points, then ...

If United win all 4 of their remaining games the maximum points total they can achieve is 71, which would be equal to what we'd get tomorrow night, but we have a +27 goal difference on them.

If City or Ars*nal won all of their remaining games, they could achieve 73 points, which would overtake us and push us to third, but it would be one or the other, as you say.

So while we're technically not home and dry as far as it being mathematically confirmed, because United could still catch us, the goal difference being as it is, it makes it impossible for United to actually overtake us unless they score at least 7 goals a game in their final 4 games

Without question. There'll be a token effort, at best, or Hiddink will send out a combination of the kids, the second eleven and the cloakroom staff.

Alli wins Young Player of the Year as well - I'm sure someone said a few weeks ago that the result was a foregone conclusion or had been leaked ?.

Still find it amusing that if you'd asked me at the beginning of the season whether I'd take a top three finish (or even top four) in the league I'd have jumped at the chance and been like "yeh right!!" But now top 3, although a great achievement (and definitely something we can build on in the future) seems slightly disappointing to me.

Yep, and then if we win the league next season by 10 points it'll be a bit "disappointing" because we didn't quite play football 'the Tottenham way', or not all 22 members of the squad were born in N17. What was the problem when we made top 4 for Christmas, someone said the manager wasn't "passionate enough" and we needed someone else?

This is the most exciting Tottenham team - and time - in my conscious lifetime and I'm loving every second of this season and already can't wait for next season. There is hardly a club in the world that doesn't envy what we have; the new stadium, the best training facility, fantastic homegrown internationals, a beautiful style of play, a great manager, but it's ... disappointing.

There's no pleasing some people. Disappointing is all those season's before where we didn't quite get there. To me top 3 and CL football is what we should be striving for this season. Anything more than that is a bonus.

The icing on the cake for me was hearing the Arsenal fans in the office say to me how impressed they are with Spurs this season. Doesn't get much better than that.

Exactly

I've said all along the title would be a wonderful bonus to a fantastic season but, ultimately, regular champions league football has to be the main goal to strive for in terms of the "path" we're on.

If we can do that and then, when the new stadium is up and running and generating the big money, add to the squad with some real world class talent then we can start to set our sights higher than 3rd.

It's very similar to Liverpool v Blackburn. I don't think Chelsea will throw the game as the players are professional. Maybe they won't bust a gut but will give it some sort of go.
JT and Guus last game as well.
It will be strange for the fans as you never knowingly want you team to lose as such.
A meaningless game being the preferred option Dix.........

Not disappointed at all - pretty sure Leicester have got the league, and in all honesty, much as I'm not fond of their way of playing they've taken their chances, been solid as hell and when we had the chance to got top we didn't take it, so there's no sour grapes here.

There's so much to be enjoyed this season, and so much to look forward to next season, and I honestly can't remember anything like this before, we've had great players certainly, can't ever remember us having something far better, a great team

I'm not sure about fans wanting their own team to lose a game but put it this way - If the game is a dead rubber for Chelsea, then they are not going to give 110% and fight tooth and nail to get a result are they?

I think because it is Leicester and not one or the 'usual' big teams it will seem like we missed out out on winning the PL this term rather than what a fantastic achievement it is on getting to second.

Still, that's not taking anything away from Leicester, amazing achievement.

Its certainly not over. Arsenal dropping points recently has really opened the door for Man Utd to snatch a champions league place so they will be well up for the Leicester game, when a few weeks ago to looked like a dead rubber (on Utds side). I think Man Utd will win that game. What an incentive for us ahead of the Chelsea game knowing a win will take us within 2 points. Of course this is based on us not messing up tonight 😃

If we have missed out it's our own fault - what on earth were we doing playing Leicenster twice in a week, losing in the Prem and, may god help us, winning in a silly bollocks cup.

Leicester were so desperate to get out the FA cup Ranieri waited until they were 2-0 down with 15 mins to go before even thinking of putting Vardy on the pitch - not starting, not 1-0 down, it wasn't safe until they were 2-0 down with 15 to go.

That's what we used to call a '6-pointer'.

Although I doubt the odds would have been good, it was also in today's match day programme, printed a couple of days ago

Well done Dele, 4 spurs winner out of the last 5 seasons, not a bad record, and a lovely wave at the end of his acceptance VT

Nerves officially kicked in for tonight, not liking that most of the media are taking a victory for Spurs as almost a foregone conclusion

I disagree tbh, if they weren't called "Manchester United" no-one would be tipping a mediocre team outside the CL places to beat the top team in the league, if we're honest! They're a pale shadow of previous United teams, it really isn't difficult to get anything at OT these days. The way things are going, it's very hard to see leicester losing any more matches imo, they're completely in the zone and absolutely buzzing.

United are a bit Jekyll and Hyde this season, mediocre generally but capable of a v.good performance every now and then against top opposition.

Gotta say that in my opinion the football we're playing now is a whole shed load better than the first half of the season or last season. Finding it far more enjoyable to watch now than then.
That said I also found the game being played by Harry Redknapp was much more enjoyable than Boas. It was more successful too but that was a bonus to the enjoyment for me.
