Continuation of: The Ratings Thread (Part 56)

The quality has improved and people have noticed, in soap terms the stories aren't massive headline grabbers. They are slow builders. It still needs that one WOW moment to get a large number of viewers back watching.

Glad to see 7.39 held up well, great piece of drama. It did hit home to me though that we're sorely missing some decent long running romantic comedy/dramas on British telly!

Looks like almost everyone who watched the first ep also watched the second ep.

Good to see a drama a bit different from the usual crime thrillers doing well. And as for romantic dramas I think Last Tango In Halifax is the gold standard for that.

Eastenders had 7.8 million last night according to DS.

I think its doing very well to start regaining viewers. Its amazing quality right now.

I'm not saying they're big episodes but Sonia returns to EE next week and Lawrie Brett (Jane Beale) hints in The Sun that she may return after filming this summer's Waterloo Road (yes, there is another series alas).

I think The Taste will drop like a stone from that extremely poor start.
I love cookery shows but gave up after 15 mins, gosh it was SO boring, it reminded me of a cooking version of Naomi Campbell's show the Face, without any of the pantomine or humour.

Moore from BBC One said that she would be keen to comission a big romantic series and is on the look out for something in that genre so I would expect something else like "The 7.39" from the drama department if they can find it. I dont think she would be responsible for getting David Nicholls "The 7.39" on screen.

That's amazingly consistent - before Xmas they were all over the place. Normally there's a bit of a drop between monday and tuesday but this wasn't only 0.1

Eastenders will probably be over 8 million for Stacey's return which is in late February I think. And of course a snow day would probably do it. It could be any Monday through as ratings do fluctuate randomly sometimes.

Its so close to 8 million in overnights that it will be well over that figure in the officials. I think by Stacey's return it should be averaging over 8 million again in the overnights. Its almost there now. So things are getting better.

The taste had a nice feel about it.
Very much like The voice with the selection process but not enough about the food. So many closeups of Nigella.

EastEnders continued to perform well in Tuesday evening's soap ratings (January 7), overnight figures show.

7.78m (34.3%) watched at 7.30pm on BBC One to see the fallout from Jane Beale's surprise visit to ex-husband Ian. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 527k (3.4%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 6.93m (32.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 249k (1.1%) on +1 as Val struggled to cope in the aftermath of Ian's bombshell.

Holby City interested 5.16m (21.8%) at 8pm on BBC One as Jac went into labour early.

Hollyoaks appealed to 1.22m (5.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 102k (0.4%) on +1 as Sonny confronted Theresa over Calvin's murder, while E4's first look followed with 778k (3.6%) at 7pm and 193k (0.8%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Gem's latest manipulations in Neighbours were seen by 632k (8.2%) at 1.45pm and 892k (5.3%) at 5.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.62m (21.3%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.

Good for EE nice to see it hold steady.

I do agree with posters on here this morning, we shouldn't be guessing when eastenders will hit 8, it'll happen I'm sure of it, but wouldn't it be better if half a dozen haven't predicted it the night before!

Celebrity Big Brother (inc. +1): 2.30m
Autopsy: The Last Hours of Michael Jackson (inc. +1): 1.63m
Source: TVRatingsUK.

Very satisfactory evening for C5.

C4 must be disappointed with The Taste. Next week will tell us more, it could go up.

"EastEnders" doing well with consistent ratings. It will be interesting to see how it fares tonight. It goes over the 8 million barrier with the BBC Three repeat included. The episode itself was a bit lacklustre so I wonder how it will do tonight on a Wednesday. I say they need to burn something down or have an explosion on the square to start it off again!

If CBB continues in this vein it can beat last year's series in the averages despite starting slightly lower.

The equivalent episode last January did just under 2m in the overnights, so at 2.3m it's up by about 16%. Monday's episode was up by about 11%.

BBC three Eastenders rating is higher than normal. Isn't it usually around 0.4 million.

Tonight there is absolutely nothing on, worth watching, I can see midsummer murders getting a decent rating, having Waterloo road cross over till 9.30 surely is a bad idea, tonight I reckon a low eastenders rating, a 2 million rating for Waterloo and appolo! It's bad enough Waterloo having a bad 8pm rating, this effects both hours now!

The Taste stunk in the ratings in the US, am amazed ABC gave it a second series.

Although 2m for Channel 4 in primetime is good going these days!

Nah. DTC said that's what you do when you've run out of ideas. Kitchen sink drama is what it is doing again and doing it well.

It's on a slowburn storylines are building nicely and they're keeping the twists and turns coming.

Look at the meltdown on social media and everywhere of Johnny coming out or JAne returning. No explosions required just good honest storytelling. No explosions or fires required.
