I do seem to remember (no doubt someone will know right or wrong) that the first Eldorado had a lead out of a showing of Crocodile Dundee which back then still had clout (does anyone know the ratings for that night?). It is a sign of the times that CD got just 0.88 million on Saturday night iirc.”

I think Eldorado had some people that never acted before of all nationalities if memory serves. Imagine that? And nobody at the BBC thought that it was a bad idea! They left Julia Smith and Tony Holland to it probably as they gave them EastEnders but Julia & Tony's judgement was severely lacking on this one!

Corinne Hollingworth was a much better producer of the show.

Agree there. Dyer and the Carters are in there for the long haul as I understand so you cannot have drama at every turn. Personally I think DD has created a strong character with much potential and the family as a whole.

Highly unlikely to run over by any more than 5 minutes. Match kicks off at 5pm, will be done LATEST at 6.45pm.

I'm certainly looking forward to Timothy West as the dad and Annette Badland as the aunt. I suspect Mr West will act some of 'em off the screen though.

Only because Emmerdale has no big storyline. The one show figures are pretty much the same as always for this time of year. The demographic who watch don't like going out in January.

Regarding 5+24 showing 15 hours of teleshopping a day: I thought they was a limit of 4 hours for an "entertainment" tv channel? Isn't it purely 5QVC?

It only takes an injury and they're ten minutes behind. Wouldn't read too much into it though - could very well be switched to 4.30pm in the officials, and either way their won't be much post-match on BBC1 - there very rarely is for the second Saturday match. I suspect they'll be a follow up forum on the red button.

Exactly. They do have some big stuff coming up but at present we are getting to know them and they are getting to know Walford.
Interacting with almost everyone so far which is good.
Danny Dyer has a contract for 2 years does he not.
He keeps stating he wants to be the new Phil or Ian by staying for 20 years so who knows.
They seem popular so far so lets just see what happens.

Both fantastic actors but to be fair EastEnders has a very good cast anyway.
Michael French and Lindsey Coulson for example are just fantastic.

EE needs to reach 8 million at some point. Big problem is there relying on bringing back a former popular character from the shows past glory's to boost ratings. It didn't work when Sharon returned, so why should it work once Stacey returns?

Stacey's return is all mapped out it seems. Sharon it wasn't. After a week or so she was more like an Extra until the start of this year. DTC won't let that happen.
Besides Stacey is popular with the younger viewers alike you just have to see how many soap awards she won over the years.
Stacks and more then anyone else.

The main fact is here EastEnders ratings have been very consistent lately (More than the other two soaps really) it's pulled away from Emmerdale and the gap between it and corrie is smaller. The share last night was one of it's highest for ages too.

2010 for EE is a dissident memory people have moved on now. The viewers won't hop straight back because Stacey is returning, might win her awards again but not much else that's my opinion.

DTC hasn't taken over to have EE getting 7 million every week and getting close to Corrie. He wants figures of 8-9 million even 10 at a push on regular basis and to make it the number one soap again.

The ratings for the first 2 parter are the best since the first episode of the 2012 series. It continues to reinvent itself and the ratings remain high even this year against Benidorm.

Did we get an accurate tape-checked rating of Wednesday's Corrie, or is it still 7.76m? Thanks in advance

One issue with rugby at the moment is that with video refs, 10 minutes of stoppage time per half is not uncommon, it is more than possible that the 2nd game will not have finished by 6.50pm with a 5pm start.

All in good time. As you stated Viewers won't just hop back despite someone is returning or whatever. They will hop back when they realise that EastEnders is back. Word is slowly getting around and even looking at twitter I have noticed this week more trending topics and what not then of late.
It means people are talking about it again.

DTC has managed to have the highest rated episode since last March,He has had some of the better Friday ratings in the past year and of course the figures are much more consistent now.
It's going the right way.

I wonder how Itv's majorly trailed new Saturday morning kids show Scrambled will rate tomorrow? I predict a massive 7 to 1 thrashing for BBC One's Breakfast [around 40pct v 6pct shares]. Should end up helping boost BBC1's all day shares. There is no market in this day and age for a show like Scrambled on a mainstream channel, watch it flop in the ratings big time.

As above a lot of rugby union games this season have been over 1 hr 50 if you include the half time break.

It's s kids show. Breakfast will easily beat it. I don't think there was ever any doubt about that.

Commercial PSBs (ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5) can run up to six hours of teleshopping between midnight and 06:00. Other commercial channels can have unlimited teleshopping windows at any time.

Indeed. It's not even separately billed on ITV in the Radio Times; just the usual "06:00 - CITV (see CITV channel listings); 09:25 - News" is shown.
