I'm looking forward to seeing how Brooklyn Nine-Nine does for E4 when it starts later this month. Its pretty good (and getting better I think).
The point I was trying to make was that it's probably the best of the newish genre shows, so should rate better, wherever it was shown.

Agree on BNN, very funny show.
Brooklyn Nine Nine is probably my fav new show of 2013/14 season. Surprised that Andy Sandberg wasn't as annoying as I'd thought he'd be. He works very well off of Andre Braugher and the rest of the cast are strong too.

Brooklyn Nine Nine is BRILLIANT!

Best new show of the year in my opinion.
Great pick up by e4, who also have THE HUNDRED for later on in the year.

Yes, it's a fine line from being annoying to being funny, also Terry Crews character is great.

Stunning for Sherlock, a timeshift of 3.54 million! That is a definite timeshifting record isn't it?

Damm Good repeat numbers for Benefits Street
That's a pretty staggering repeat figure for Benefits Street. Just a fraction behind the opening of the much trailed The Taste. Presumably the press attention drove people that missed it to the repeat. Bodes well for episode two particularly given the weaker competition on BBC1 next week. Be interesting to see which benefits more from the weaker BBC1 output, Bletchley Circle or Benefits Street.

Phenomenal timeshift for Sherlock.

BBC2's Line of Duty returns week/c 25th, most likely the Monday, which would explain why BBC1 aren't starting anything on Mondays (not that they tried on Mondays last year after the comedies.)

Britain's Great War starts on Wednesday 29th, I think this would do better on Mondays but would have clashed with LOD, can't see it doing well with it having a Waterloo Road lead in and starting halfway through Midsomer Murders (I assume that will be back after football and NTAs.)

They'll be facing the last half of Sport Relief Bake Off so might not get that much of a boost. Speaking of which, if Eastenders did poorly yesterday (which it was always going to do being out of slot) how badly is it going to do against Bake Off.

I think they missed a trick not showing Bake Off on BBC One in some of the weaker slots. 9pm on Monday and Wednesday (amended schedule: 1900 One Show, 1930 Waterloo Road, 2030 EE) and then the following Monday and Wednesday too at 9pm.

It beat Downton's 3.46m for the Christmas Day 2011 episode and tops Doctor Who's live + timeshift record for Time Of The Doctor which was 4.95m.

That's a jaw dropping statistic.

As viewing habits change, how long before a time shift figure exceeds the live one?

That's nearly 50/50 live/time-shift, I'd imagine by next Christmas time-shift will exceed Live(occasionally). It will probably be a few years until it is a common occurrence.

Corrie top soap - how its doing this well with weaker storylines (bar Hayley's cancer) i don't know. But well done anyway.

Sherlock superb, 2million more viewers than in 2011. Amazing, although i do think when BBC1 put programmes out on Xmas Day and NYD viewers just record it even if they don't watch it usually, simply bacuse its Christmas, and usually programming in more special at that time of year.

Also good rating for Potter with 6.4m, a timeshift of just under 1million I think? Rpt ratings will do well with this one also.

Thanks ronant.

Corrie starts the year as top soap so far. I suspect Hayley's exit which is on the 20th will consolidate somewhere over 11m.

Overnight and official ratings for Series 1 and 2 of The Voice.

I personally believe that if the first episode doesn't rate between 7.5-8 million considering the amount of promotion then something isn't right.

Spoiler
Thanks for providing these. I'd not clocked that last year's X Factor final rated lower than five episodes of season 1 of TVUK.
Looking at the ratings for The Voice posted above you know it would not take that much to get up to XF levels if it really got a roll on. That would be fun on here.
Said this the other day. Allowing for the different seasons the shows previously aired in it's already really not that far behind XF.
I found this interesting! People attempting to break record of binge viewing, (watching TV nonstop for as long as possible basically)

Article: http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2014/01/...d-attempt.html :P
Sounds horrifying I struggle to watch TV for more than three hours without a good walk, how on earth do people like that do it
Never in a million years would it get anywhere near 10m
Conveniently forgetting the eight times it's already got anywhere near 10m, the five times it's already exceeded 10m, and the twice it's exceeded 11m.
I agree - if it's really must-see TV somebody had better hurry up and tell the 95%+ of the population who regard it as anything but!

Well back in 2010 it was neck and neck with Corrie on first showings but the BBC Three repeat (at 10pm then) used to regularly get 1m+ as well.
Ok thanks. It gets annoying sometimes if you're not an avid ratings follower and the peaks and averages are constantly banded about. Hard to keep track of when something really has fallen to depths, or certain people are manipulating things to make a bad rating seem that much worse.

I really like it. And I think it's sensible to not be part of the main show as it's quite different in style and is more of a conversation about an interesting topic. It can be heavier going so I'm not surprised it gets a smaller audience though.
In that case it should surely be at 10pm or on BBC4, then, not straight after the actual programme and in what would appear to be a better slot. Would mean BBC2 not having awkward 9.30 slots to fill this week as well.

Waterloo Road and Live At The Apollo had no appeal for me and it seems most viewers. And when EastEnders stops on Wednesday BBC1 will be in the crap with these two dud shows.

Flop Wednesdays are a comin'!
There's only two Appallings on Wednesdays, last night and next week, the leftover episodes from the series which began before Christmas. One of them is the episode that was cancelled on the day after Mandela's death. Presumably if there was only one left it would have flung out at 10.35 or one late slot over Christmas. The rating last night was a combination of it never being a primetime success and then being placed in an odd slot with no similar programmes around it.

Speaking of cancellations I see tomorrow's Celebrity Mastermind has been replaced by a programme about the recent weather. Which isn't so bad because I like how Celebrity Mastermind runs well into January to make it seem like it's still Christmas, and now it'll run even longer.

I see even Radio 1 Newsbeat is taking an interest in shows in ratings crisis.

Here's their story about the Splash! ratings crisis...

The latest household name to join is MP Penny Morduant.

You know Penny, don't you?

Dented by Midsomer, but a good rating, but Corrie against Strictly which a similar rating is poor apparently. How do you work that out?
It's not entirely unusual for Corrie to be on a Sunday. It has been shown several times on Sunday's but EastEnders on a Wednesday, outside Christmas, is far more unusual. Again, you seem to be taking things a little too personally. It wasn't a grounbreaking rating for EE. EE won't get groundbreaking ratings for a few more weeks yet, but compared to what it was getting in its regular slots just a couple of months ago, I'd say almost 7m in an unususal slot is pretty good. Corries ratings against SCD are poor because it normally does 3m more in a regular slot. That's the difference. It's about perspective.
