Fantastic result for the Musketeers. well deserved. Mr selfridge did alright, all things considered and I'm sure it will consolidate to above 6m.

A lot of us on the DOI forum said last night.
Key issue the routines are so boring. I actually think if T&D had been moved to the panel and new blood for the choreography it might have rebooted the show.

Cracking ratings for both.”

Wow cracking figures there for both dramas. Plus FairPlay to Mr Self it held up well to. Although on the downside there doesn't seem much room for any drop in ratings. On the other hand it could rise to.

Brilliant for The Musketeers. And MS held up well! Fantastic for CTM! The results of DOI is low as expected.

Great to see drama on the big two doing so well, the musketeers will probably/hopefully settle in the sixes, bbc drama are once again having a fantastic start to the new year, with 5 series over 7 million viewers, do we know if georgegently is definitely airing Thursday nights?

I've said for some time that single hit shows in a sea of low-rating failure are not a good idea, but now the BBC1 have several shows doing well back-to-back.

"An evening of entertainment" feeds into itself and gives you ever higher audiences since many people can just flick to BBC1 and settle down for the evening.

Not me unfortunately, BBC1 programmes are just not my cup of tea. Not ITV1 either, not being a 42yr old mother of 3.

can anyone post the breakdown for musketeers and also Mr Selfridge - would be interesting to see how musketeers held up after CTM.

Indeed. I find it truly inexplicable that such dull, unoriginal crap shoud generate such large viewing figures. What on earth do people see in it?!

A good rating for Musketeers but I would've hoped for something over 8 million for a first episode.

Wow great rating for Call The Midwife. I was worried it might drop this series but it looks to continue its incredible success!

Hope Musketeers also keeps its audience for next week. Two brilliant BBC One dramas

Am sorry but have you actually bothered to watch CTM or are you just talking out of your behind? Because if you have watched it you would no its a beautiful heart warming piece of drama which fits perfectly on a Sunday evening.

Does anyone have the BBC Three repeat figure for the Voice please?

Really good evening for BBC One then - an absolutely brilliant figure for Call the Midwife and a great sampling for The Musketeers. Country file also did magnificently.

Not surprised to see ITV struggle a little under the onslaught, but things could have been worse. Mr Selfridge will need to at least be steady and at best claw back some viewers if The Musketeers dips in the weeks to come (likely, you'd have thought).

Media Guardian seems to think so, yes. That's an excellent rating especially when you consider what it was up against last night.

Speaking of The Village when is season 2, it better not be after The Musketeers finishes otherwise it will deem even more drab than ever.

Reading the many many pages since I was last here, honestly you lot can talk a lot,

Obviously But odd considering the competition last night. Did people who didn't want to watch MS and TM really turn to CBB out of all things?

Great start for Call The Midwife expected a 9m overnight but not that high. The consolidated audiences for series 2 were down on series 1 due to lower timeshifts, hopefully they will increase for series 3.

Great start for The Musketeers better than Ripper Street managed opposite Mr Selfridge and with a Midwife lead-in. Hope the rating holds up as it's an enjoyable show.

Mr Selfridge isn't as popular many think it is like Downton or Sherlock, if it was the ratings would have held up better for the opener. But they are decent and will probably go up in coming weeks however the overnights are lower than they were for Wild At Heart which it replaced.

Somebody said that Dancing On Ice results would suffer more with Midwife back as they have more of a crossover audience with it than Sherlock. That looks the case this morning. Do they still pimp Dancing On Ice on This Morning and pretend that people care?

The fact BBC1 will probably end up with 8.5m+ overnights in the Sunday 8pm slot from the first weekend of the year right through to the beginning of March surely makes it all the more bewildering that they just roll over against X Factor for the last third of the year.
