It wasn't that it offended people, it was that it was probably inappropriate to use a real life story as yet another pawn in an ITV bashing attack. A bit of a low blow. Considering he's been here years and less immature compared to some kids you get round here, it was a bit surprising he went off on one in the first place.

It wasn't me who got him banned by the way, his level of ITV bashing was better than some not so far away from here, not all his posts were bashing ones, also unlike some, plus he disliked The Voice and you could tell he was having to praise it through gritted teeth!

I'm sure he'll be back. Next time ITV have particularly bad luck, he won't be able to resist.

I disagree. I can absolutely see why DS took action in this case. I was surprised to see a veteran poster make those kind of comments, which were completely unnecessary.

That said, I will miss Robbie. We disagreed on many things but his contributions were mostly good and occasionally he amused me. *whispers quietly* Maybe he'll come back in a new guise. Wouldn't be the first time.

Dull evening of telly on BBC1 tonight compared to last night. Hopefully The Bletchley Circle will pick up a few viewers tonight as a result.

I think the New tricks repeat will run Bletchley very close, might even sneak ahead. Bletchley was under 4m last week against a low-rating PSB documentary. Up against similar drama skewing competition, albeit a repeat, it may well drop down further. I expect Benefits Street to be down from last week, due to the 'buzz' and 'shock value' wearing down after the 2nd episode aired.

Not quite as good as the stat you got banned for before, but a jolly good giggle all the same.


Has it really been six years since Vera died? Crumbs I'm feeling old today. There was masses more media interest in Vera's exit than there was in Hayley's, I'd be surprised if the latter came within a million of the former.

I remember a few years ago when Steven Gerrard got arrested, it was an absolutely massive story - and yet none of the radio stations were even mentioning it outside of the bulletins at the top of the hour! I couldn't understand for the life of me why not, I thought the entire radio network had decided to take the day off and play in precorded shows! It was only later that I discovered about all the regulations with regards risking affecting jury opinions etc. - obviously the same sort of legal threat applies to major international websites like DS. I had to put Robbie on ignore after the Mandela affair but it is a shame such a regular and passionate contributor has gone nonetheless.

Obviously Hayley leaving isnt nowhere near as major as when Jack and Vera died. They'd been in it much longer, and those deaths were particularly sad as both actors were basically leaving because of ill health, retiring from TV, indeed Bill Tarmey died not much later afterwards, although Liz Dawn is still with us, although I think she is still ill and doesn't make TV appearances anymore.

The scene where Vera returned to take Jack with her, and the camera panned upwards was one of the sadest scenes I've ever seen in a TV drama.

None of this takes anything away from tonight's episodes though.

The soaps have become very difficult to predict over the past couple of years as I think the rather inexplicable rise EastEnders saw for the Kat & Alfie reunion demonstrates quite nicely. Its going to be interesting to see the numbers tomorrow. I'm not sure I'm expecting much beyond the norm though to be honest.

I liked Helix but what the hell were Channel 5 playing at with the adverts?!

The ratio of programme to adverts was not right at all, the breaks felt abnormally frequent. Everyone's saying the same thing on Twitter so not just me, and predictably comments along the lines of "good show but I'll record it next week." Once again they could be stuck with a show that underwhelms in the overnights but adds a silly amount on catchup which is no good when catchup viewers don't pay the bills unless they are the few watching via Demand 5.

No chance of this rating well with such poor ad placement and such a late finish. It even finished early by about 5 minutes so they had to run some Home & Away / Neighbours featurette to kill time before Bit On The Side.

Helix was on Demand 5 by 10pm so I watched it there through my Sky box. Was finished by 11.20pm!

It was all right but it didn't WOW me. Also lacked the production values of Under The Dome and yet....there is something that is compelling about the mystery. I want to know what's going on and will return to it.

I didn't think the ads were that bad. 2 in the first 20 minutes used to be what Sky did before they learned a lesson so I was sort of trained to expect it

No it didn't fully live up to my expectations either but there was enough going for it that I'll be back for more. It certainly delivered on the horror and gore front and the story is compelling to this point, albeit not massively original so far. The script and acting could have been stronger in places, but again it did enough to grab me.

On Twitter I'd say 5 in every 6 comments roughly is positive. But the amount of ads on the live broadcast was universally hated. If it topped a million for the pilot it'll have done well but suspect it will be down to about 700,000 or worse by next Monday. Should hold up somewhat better in the officials.

C5 need to review their ad structure if they want this to be a good year for drama on 5, especially with Suspects around the corner.
