All true. I did not report Robbie just to put that on record and I hope he returns when he's gotten over being rapped on the knuckles again. He said unacceptable things repeatedly and in spite of challenges about very serious legal proceedings, it is definitely a bannable offence. Banning someone (at least for a bit) is the only way to "discipline" in this weird society of DS.

I still think 10-10.5m though, but I really hope I'm wrong and it's higher because it was just landmark TV for me, I'll never forget those scenes.

A channel with a good reputation for showing quality imports?
Sky get too much credit. Apart from a few exceptions like Game of Thrones their biggest hits in recent years have been shows plucked straight from other channels including the likes of House, shown first on Five.

I think Helix is a show that fell foul of the Celebrity Big Brother scheduling. Had Channel 5 decided 'early on' that the series would continue into the next week I think they would have split episodes one and two over the two weeks instead of running two back to back.

I agree. I went for 9.4m and 9.7m in the RPG which I feel is a conservative prediction but reasonable nonetheless. The storyline has got a lot of publicity so they could still pull something out of the bag tomorrow - I certainly hope so.
Just a shame there's been no snow!

It's so difficult to get imports with Sky throwing money around so the trick now is to cast the net wider to different makers and countries. BBC4 introduced us to Nordic noir and it worked for them, Channel 4 went to France with The Returned. Now looking beyond the usual production houses in America to find something different from America.

Arrow, Ray Donovan, Blacklist? Yes Sky have money but Northern & Shell aren't exactly hard up are they?
It wasn't intended as a dig. Sky have had their flops as have Five. The US import game is a tricky one. Everyone gets burnt at some point

Five had to broaden their acquisitions strategy. The main networks in America haven't produced many noteworthy new shows in recent seasons, meanwhile the competition for the few noteworthy new shows there have been has been fiercer than ever. Looking more at cable stuff is no bad idea when cable is producing so much good stuff at the moment. And of course, Sony Pictures are involved in Helix, and Five have an ongoing deal with Sony Pictures for movies including premieres, so that was probably a factor as well.
Also they are looking more at imports from outside the US like Australian drama which is no bad thing in my eyes if the likes of Secrets and Lies can match or come close to matching Wentworth Prison which was of a very high standard and one of my favourite shows last year.

I think Sky have done well for imports. Arrow, Elementary, The Blacklist and Hawaii Five-O are particular favourites of mine.
Talking of US imports of questionable quality, anyone picked up the new Starz series Black Sails. The pilot has been released online and it's pretty rubbish IMO.

I didn't know Five had a deal with Sony. What other shows will they get through that? I also think it's a good idea to broaden the net. Apparently one of the hottest TV markets for new shows is Australia.

Interesting you mention the placing of adverts for Helix, it did seem to annoy many people that were watching it. Should be different next week with an hour long episode. Lots of positive comments too. Might do well for Five. 2m ish launch and settle around 1m?
Will keep me going as I count down the days to Under The Dome. You know I love that show!

Really disappointed at Black Sails, as I usually love Starz projects.
Anyway, as regarding Sundays ratings CTM opened with a really touching episode and thoroughly deserved its rating. As for The Musketeers, it grabbed my attention from the first minute, so will certainly be back for more, and hope the drop off isn't too large.
@SamuelW. I hope to god the beeb don't try your little idea about CTM and try to overstretch it, as it will kill the show stone dead.

Sport Relief dominated the terrestrial ratings with an average of 5.8m (25.8%) from 7pm, down on the 7.8m who tuned in over the same time period in 2010. Featuring Miranda Hart and the cast of Outnumbered, the charity telethon gave BBC Two its best audience of the night (3.47m/17.5%) when it switched over at 10pm.

Channel 5 have broadened their acquisition slate to be less American and crime centric hence shows like Under the Dome, Wentworth, Love/Hate, Helix, Secrets and Lies to name but a few, sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't but that's the risk they take when acquiring shows.

In terms of Drama the market is overwhelmingly weak, and tends to lend itself to the lowest common denominator, e.g. Winners and losers which bomber on ITV2. The only decent show in recent years 'a place to call home' has yet to emerge.
The reality market is a lot stronger and I'm amazed the likes of my kitchen rules and house rules have not emerged on terrestrial tv here. One thing australian tv has done in recent years is move to 4-5 day a week stripped reality shows, that unlike dramas are less likely to be timeshifted and create momentum.
2014 will be an interesting year ratings wise with Channel Nine extending there 6pm news bulletin (news is also shown a lot as its cheap and timeshift proof) and putting A Current Affair at 7pm every night, opposite the ABC News, Ten's current affairs show the project, and Home and Away (which now it avoids the block/voice/big brother should benefit this year). This means everything goes head to head at 7.30, and as of next week that means the big 3 are all showing reality every night, My Kitchen Rules, The Block and Bigeest Loser.

Looking at australian ratings this appears to be the case owning the monday night slot following on from the X Factor.Be interesting to see whether that or Revenge will lose the Monday slot as both are due back soon, I suspect Revenge will move to Wednesdays
I'm really intrigued with how Corrie will rate today. Imo it's really an unknown quantity as while she is a much loved Corrie character she isn't one who has quite the history of comparative legends who have had similar high profile moving exits. Her and Roy (and probably Kat and Alfie for EE) are arguably the closest we've had to new soap classics in the last 15 years, so it will be fascinating to see just how much viewer interest it has garnered. Incredibly moving episodes last night nonetheless.
