UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 12s
Benidorm (5.76m/23.2%) again beat Silent Witness (5.26m/21.2%) at 9pm, but both were down by close to a million compared to last Thursday.

So BOAF, Benidorm and SW all dropping nearly 1m from the week before.

Looks like it was one of those low rating soap nights that we seem to get all too frequently these days.

Certainly seems the case for Thursday viewing in general.
CUP OF TEAAA!

BOAF did quite well IMO. Very close to 7m and I forgot it was on last night. Maybe others were the same? Once it cements the slot people will remember that it is on and will tune in regularly.

Still pretty good for the comedies. They were always going to drop but they should stabilise at a good level.

No CBB rating?

Assume a real world 6.5m for Birds.

Add maybe 750k on consolidation.

If it bottoms out at a consistent 6.5m official then that's poor in the context of the show's heritage but makes it a comedy ratings behemoth in ITV's terms!!

And still doing better than Citizen Khan which was brought back with far less viewers.

Real world dead heat I suspect and again SW should consolidate on top. But shows what happens when folk are back at work!

Glad to see EE back above 7mil. BOAF still did decently shame SW fell though as I thought it was a better episode then the opening episode.

Has ITV ever really had a sitcom ratings success on the lines of the BBC, the only one I can think of is Rising Damp.

CBB suffered from a lot of completion, hope the +1 figure is strong. Tonight should be around 2.5 again hopefully

Yes the BBC can safely Axe it in October 2014 if the independents win the vote claiming they can't show it anymore because the BBC will have to pull out of Scotland.

And if they lose The BBC can axe it with any danger of being bashed about the head by either side of the arguments for having some kind of bias.

If they can't slose shipyards in scotland for fear of endangering the union they are certainly not going to axe Waterloo Road before the big vote in September

Probably, Undateables still came out on top but it's lower than usual.

ah the great myth that only Rising Damp was any good for ITV.

I think the issue is more that was one that is still liked by the critics decades later.

ITV have had numerous big sitcoms success, their main problem is they were/are very contemporary. Making them look very dated if repeat 5/10 years later

The Army Game (well before my time)
On The Buses
Nearest and Dearest
Bless This House
Father Dear Father
Duty Free
After Henry
Agony
No Job For A Lady
The New Statesmen
Watching
Surgical Spirit
and many more.....

They all had ratings that compared favourably with BBC1 equivalents of the times.

ITV had sitcom hits for decades, they haven't aged as well as the BBC shows, been as repeated or won as many industry awards. But as Mike shows they had loads and they were massive hits.

In the 70s, 80s and 90s they had hit after hit after hit.
