So?
The ratings are rubbish for ITV at this time of year. It most certainly should be cancelled. Quote:
I don't think D.M.N was arguing the case for or against the survival of Splash. He was just countering Samuels argument that it is collapsing. I think it's fair to say it is severely underperforming but it hasn't totally collapsed because its audience are strangely, sticking with it! Bless 'em.
Collapsed suggests that ratings have decreased each week which, in fact it hasn't. Yes, it won't be recommissioned, but at the same point it hasn't gone down to embarrassing lows either. It was never going to be around for the long term. |

When did C4 move tonight's The Jump premiere to 8pm? I'm sure the first episode was airing at 9pm the last time I checked with subsequent episodes at 8pm.
Tough slot in theory against another zeleb show in Dancing on Ice and Call the Midwife busy crowd pleasing on BBC One. |

I didn't even realise it started tonight, can't see it doing very well at all.
Still not sure how it'll do. Some in the media trying to push the jeopardy element. I could see it starting well but failing to sustain it through the week. |

Thursday 16th January - Consolidated Ratings 4 - Silent Witness - 7.59m Friday 17th January - Consolidated Ratings 5 - Silent Witness - 7.59m Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Do you think that was exactly the same 7.59m people watching both episodes? Not one single person switching off after part one cos they're not enjoying the story?

Also whoever said Rising Star getting 5 million would be a good result, it really isn't unless they think it will rise. That would be dreadful. Dancing On Ice hasn't even fallen to that and of course it's been axed. This is the major problem here. DOI must be one of the highest rating axed shows of the last few years. Yes it might have fallen further since they didn't iron out the problems (and of course one of these talent/reality shows had to go first) but the instant expectation now for ITV in doing that is to have a 7m+ banker in its place. I assume Rising Star won't be cheap to run either. And demos? Well DOI doesn't do badly for the younger demos does it? Rising Star will presumably match or beat it in that sense but by how much, and will the overall ratings be good enough?
I don't have the best feeling although the gimmick IS interesting and may have a Voice-like effect for the initial few weeks. We will see. I think it's safe to assume we won't be getting Ant & Dec as presenters, but they need someone who is going to be a big draw. God only knows who the judges will be as well. I think ITV for the time being would have been better looking for a drama replacement for DOI. They did after all used to bolster their Sundays. A drama sandwiched between 2 quizzes with another drama at 9 might have worked well. Of course the problem is anything they showed would likely have a crossover audience with the ever popular Countryfile so perhaps that's why they're looking for more entertainment, derivative as it is. The stronghold BBC1 have on Sundays Q1 now have made it really hard for ITV to get a leg-up. |

The lack of entertainment presenters does make me wonder who will present Rising Star, my bets are on Holly or Davina

That's not terrible for Splash yesterday but it's still not good enough. The format is so limited and gets stale very quickly. It needs to be nipped in the bud now because I just can't see it going anywhere. If it has to come back then move it to the summer where it will probably rate similarly and its performance will be more acceptable.
I hope ITV commission something new for Q1 Saturdays. |

Surely The Jump has absolutely no chance tonight? Didn't even realise it was launching today until I saw an advert just before.
As for The Voice, decent rating but imo this is the worst series yet. Kylie isn't enough to save it for me. Just far too much of the divering of 'oh should I turn? Are you gonna turn'... most of the time resulting in nobody turning and no constructive reasons why. I know it's been present since Day 1 but imo it's really ramped up this time. Though as I say it's clearly doing the business, I guess I am just one voice. |

For me mrs browns boys is the highlight from last night! Most comedies can only dream of that figure, in fact most tv shows, I also love the fact Brendan mentioned the 15 million viewers on Xmas day during the ntas! This probably made a lot of bbc boys very happy, do we know for sure about the next series for 2015!

The Voice timeshifted about 1.5m to a good consolidated rating. |

If I was Itv, I would think outside the box and go for Chris Evans. The reason is he presents a radio breakfast show to 9million listeners each morning. If you had a presenter like him, he would be able to plug the show to a huge number of listeners and increase exposure of the show. Chris Evans is also an entertaining presenter and not an autocue reader like Willoughby or Mccall.

Is the launch of a Michael McIntyre talkshow a possible hint that ITV are attempting to poach Graham Norton? After all his company is now owned by ITV Studios? Perhaps ITV have Graham Norton linked to it.

Davina or Holly definite possibilities. Maybe Alesha Dixon. Think it needs to be someone funny though to make it engaging. Personally I'd rope in Alan Carr just as a total curveball! |

Can't see Graham moving to itv, he's one of the biggest stars on the BBC, although I think he's underused these days, it's been a while since we've seen him on Saturday nights.
![]() Could add some leverage to the show if he presented. |

A comedian who could break into the mainstream as an entertainment presenter is Jack Whitehall. He has the potential to be mainstream entertainer/presenter material and would be different to the bland autocue readers of O'Leary/Schofield/Mulhern etc.
