I do remember watching Watching at 7.15 on Sunday but perhaps that was its regular summer repeat slot.

I really have no recollection of it ever hitting the heights of 16m though

Thanks.

Does anyone know why DS hasn't published any overnights for yesterday or Wednesday?

It's Helix launch day in America! C5 follows in 10 days time. Second most exciting drama for me this January after Sherlock.

Here's what's likely to lead into The Voice over the next few weeks...

11 January: Dynamo and Reflex
18 January: Dynamo and Reflex
25 January : Dynamo and Reflex
1 February: 6 Nations - France v England (5pm ko)
8 February: 6 Nations - Scotland v England (5pm ko)
15 February: ???? and Reflex (Splash! final; blind auditions end)
22 February: England v Ireland (4pm ko) and Reflex (Saturday Night Takeaway starts?; battle rounds begin)
1 March: ???? and Reflex - last in the series
8 March: Scotland v France (5pm ko) (knockout round)
15 March: France v Ireland (5pm ko) (quarter-final)
22 March: ???? (Semi-final)
29 March: ???? (final)

If The Voice follows exactly the same format as last year, which is a big if, it will be over 12 weeks, with two shows on Sundays (23 February and 9 March, presumably before Call the Midwife). For the first 10 weeks its lead-in will either be Reflex (on 6 occasions) or the 6 Nations (on 4 occasions).

Does anyone have the rating for TOTP 1979 on BBC4 at 19:30? I would be interested to see if the new year has had an effect on the ratings.

Thanks in advance

You are taking Helix to Samuel proportions of love. I'm expecting nothing but fantastic things from this show

I'm hoping Five will pick up the Last Ship, especially with Michael Bay attached to it

I'm quite looking forward to the Voice, I'll DVR it as its on too early for my viewing habits but irregardless of ratings the spinny chairs are fun

Below 502k as it isn't in the digital top 10, Hollyoaks tops the list with 1.1m inc +1 on E4 last night, a great rating for the first look!

BBC4 did get two entries with Treasures of Ancient Egypt 643k and Cleopatra 567k.

Also nice to see BOAF and Benidorm holding up ok, seems everything took quite a hit yesterday. Poor for Emmerdale and Eastenders though imo.

Oh stop talking rubbish. It was the highest rated show outside of the soaps. The BBC have commissioned far worse shows than the new BOAF.

Wonder why no movie? All the episodes are movie-length already, it's not that big an ask to make a standalone one surely.

I'm far too young to have seen it the first time around (or indeed ever see a repeat of it) and turned off the first episode after 15 minutes because we thought it was terrible. It's just EastEnders but with worse production values.

DS report is up. 1.18m (6.1%) seems decent for Brooker.

And ITV Media records another great rating and particularly share for The One Show - 4.69m (22%). It ran to time.

Bit of an ouch all around last night really. Although I think it says something about how strong last week was that three shows could drop by almost a million and still post very respectable figures.

I know you're determined to try and spin this into a positive for the BBC but can we please try and keep some perspective? Firstly the BBC didn't see scripts. Secondly the BBC didn't actually pass on a full series (they merely wanted a special to serve as a pilot first). Thirdly the show, while down, still pulled very good figures. And finally its not like the BBC has an especially good track record with comedy as of late.

Probably cheaper though. And it hits a diversity quota.

The festive break certainly seems to have done wonders for The One Show! Whisper it, but is it almost on the verge of justifying it's place in the schedules?

Let's not kid ourselves, that's by far the main if not the only reason it's been recommissioned.

I'd agree with all that apart from the BIB. The BBC have produced some great comedies and some big hits in recent years... they've also had some awful ones but that's par for the course.

ITV have produced Benidorm as their one and only decent offering.

BOAF doesn't really count as it's a revival of a successful show, that copies everything that made is successful quite well (at least in terms of production maybe not scripts)

That's a huge figure for "Birds of a Feather" on January 2nd. Beating "EastEnders" too.

Last night figure was down only 700k which is also very good. Didn't enjoy last nights episode though so will probably give up watching but you cant argue with the figures.

only have one rating for Outside Edge of 9.73 from w/e 08/05/1994”

Those SUMMER episodes of Watching will have been repeats.

A quick check of Wikipedia reveals those episodes for March 1993 were the final series. Watching was a big ratings hit for the duration.

ITV, the dimwits, stuck the first series out on Sunday at 10pm at the height of Summer. Fortunately, we viewers recognized a good comedy when we saw it and it acheived very good ratings for the slot. ITV then moved the series to primetime and the ratings soared accordingly.

The peak 16m+ audience was acheived as the result of very heavy snow.
