I think you should, only for the reason you may like it I don't know For me, I thought it very pointless and definitely devoid of all personality. It was very odd; a drama that was completely documentary in tone. Yet ironically I've seen more drama in those Police Interceptor programmes. Actually yes you should definitely watch it I'd like to hear your thoughts

No it was awful. I gave up at the first ad break.

Hope "Line Of Duty" pulls in a deservedly big audience today. Wish they had broadcast this on a Sunday after "Call The Midwife" instead of "The Musketeers" and give it a major platform to launch on. Still BBC TWO has suffered enough losses to BBC one recently! Its one of the best dramas they make. Series two is equally as strong first episode as the first series, I was pleasantly surprised the standard was so good.

I listened to it on the radio, on the way to WORK!

I have to say the same thought crossed my mind ...

Although having an actress from CTM playing a very different part in LOD might have raised a few eyebrows!

Ah yes of course! Jessica Raine would be in both! Hurry up next episode! Cant believe this is left on BBC TWO for a smaller audience, while "The Musketeers' is meant for mainstream. But good for BBC TWO shares and will continue drama investment so all good really and understand why the glare of Sunday nights may not be the best solution for drama series to thrive. But this definately has mass appeal to a bigger audience I would say, and cast list is great.

I didn't watch it but shame that it got a low rating.

Line of Duty was up against Midsomer Murders, starting half way through. Unfortunately the OAP crime audience are very loyal to Midsomer so Line of Duty was always going to struggle in that slot [C5's crime dramas always rate lower against MM]. Also the last series of LOD was on Tuesdays when Itv competition is very weak. Moving it to Wednesdays was a mistake. Up against Tuesday Itv competition, when BBC One doesn't have a drama, it could've got a million more viewers. L.O.D is also a dark, gritty drama. The mass audiences prefer easier to follow light crime dramas like Death in Paradise and Midsomer.

Very disappointing for Line of Duty. It was put in a really tough slot and it got squeezed. Couldn't they have waited a week to start it?

Shame about Line of Duty, it was in a much tougher slot this series. Hopefully it will timeshift well as well as growing throughout the series.

Can we nip this "should have been in BBC One" crap in the bud please? It was commissioned by BBC Two for BBC Two, it's not like they have a massive pool of drama which gets assigned a channel after it's made. They didn't choose Musketeers over Line of Duty.

Very disappointing. I expected something to get squeezed in a very competitive timeslot. Makes you wonder if The Fall will return up or down.

It's a BBC Two drama though, and maybe would not work as well on a Sunday.

The Fall rated very well last series but it was up against piss poor competition ratings-wise from BBC One and Itv [Vicious/Job Lot and PSB docs on BBC1]. Up against some decent competition, the Fall wont rate as well in its second series. It wont have it as easy next time, that's for sure.

Timeshifting aside, it just demonstrates that quality, gritty and dark programming is not necessarily what audiences want.

Real shame.

Is Line of Duty a drama that the OAP crime audience (in your words) would be interested in watching?

Death In Paradise is also a quality, adult program. But people just prefer lighter crime dramas in the current television landscape. New tricks, Death In Paradise, Lewis, Midsomer Murders are some of the most popular crime dramas around partly because they are quite easy to follow, non gritty shows. No sex, swearing, blood, gore or prostitution in them unlike some other crime dramas which don't rate as well.

They did when the first series launched with 3m. But that was in Summer. Wednesday was too crowded.

Poor start for Line of Duty, I liked it, not as good as Spiral or The Bridge, but pretty good by UK standards. I think expecting it to rate as well as The Fall is unrealistic. That was quite atmospheric and exceptionally well written, acted and directed. Line of Duty may have put people off at the start as it took a while to get going IMO.

100th ep of #MidsomerMurders attracted slot-winning 5.5m/23.4% from 8pm, with further 311.4k/1.5% on ITV+1 overnights.tv

#outnumbered viewers outnumbered by those watching #MidsomerMurders, but comedy still watched by healthy 4.2m/17.2% overnights.tv

So that's Midsomer up 300k on last week and Outnumbered down 600k. ITV will be pleased with that Midsomer audience, especially with Line of Duty now in play. A bit on the low side for Outnumbered though, and I wonder how it'll hold up against the Brits next week.

The fact that it's been 18 months since the last series probably didn't help either. I think it will have made it less of a 'must see' programme for people.
