I thought Reflex was fine based on the final half hour that I saw, although I felt it tried a bit too hard with the VO in the end. Very much like The Cube although I prefer the format of "Beating The Cube" rather than the family thing. Would be nice to see it do OK, at least launch well.

The Voice blind auditions were good, but they always have been regardless of who was there. I thought some of the running order was a bit weird or a bit predictable (another 4 turn opening, third act is quite attractive but doesn't get through...). Too long spent on each act as well.

Kylie & Ricky were OK. I don't think either was great but they were better than last years options. Kylie is Kylie and much like Cheryl Cole never did or said anything amazing but it just worked. Both the new ones aren't great with words but it kind of works and the whole "sell yourself" bit was more bearable this time (albeit dragged out too much). Less focus on Will helped too. Emma seems fine. Marvin seems very wooden.

Overall they got some decent acts in there, some stories worked more than others and the judges were less obnoxious than last year. But this isn't the first time that a premiere of The Voice UK has been well received!

The Voice hopefully should be a million ahead of last year's launch which would be a very successful start and ahead of the BBC's internal targets. And 5m for WDW would be up week on week.”

Do you set these fantasy BBC internal targets?!

I agree 100%. But only when opinions are made in an unconfrontational manner, or not just trying to be deliberately antagonistic.

They clash again

The Voice UK Live on week and then Takeaway the next and so on...for me .

It's smack bang in the middle of what series 1 and 2 launched with.”

If we are being honest, the Beeb has nowhere else to go. They need a second entertainment brand other than Strictly and definitely for next year when Rising Star begins. Id say it is almost a done deal-only a significant drop in auditions ratings will prevent it.

EDIT: What are the chances of the BBC coming up with a world beating talent format of their own? (pretty slim Id say)

All of which tended to have much less support. And wasn't Pointless Celebrities getting 4.5m leading into Let's Dance a year or two ago?

Last years final was up a million on the first episode. And didn't The Voice pull closer to 8 million last year for the auditions when moved away from Take Away?

Well I haven't done any of that, I just think his criticism seems totally out of order with everyone else. I don't know his feelings on ITV or X-Factor, but I found his post very out of sync.

I'm saying that whatever my personal opinion, I can see that the response on Twitter is largely positive. I'm not one of those people who only sees arguments that agree with their own.

“Your original post still seems to be seething nonsense with almost no-one in agreement.”

So you did understand.

And I don't say this very often but SamuelW is absolutely right - pretty much regardless of what happens I think series 4 is a certainty. Even at sub-6m is would survive - probably have to be consistently below 5m to even be considered for the axe. This series is probably more about determining the long term future of the show - if it can consistently get 8m this year that would almost certainly be series 5 and probably series 6 secure too.

It doesn't need to suddenly become a smash hit. The final last year had an overnight of 7.2 million and a handful of last years auditions were just shy of 8 million. The audience is absolutely already there for it.

Overall The Voice was good. Kylie is an event just being Kylie.

That said there are still flat moments-it needs to look and feel pacier.

How refreshing is that. Good on him, you wouldn't see Simon Cowpat doing that.

SNT is a totally different show so it will do well, he has no reason to be worried.

Umm, but in your original post you said nowt about how it would obviously do well in twitter and viewers, it was only in a later post you said that it would do well.

Surely the quite rightly ridiculed first post was all about how it was a much worse show, and won't appeal to any more people, are you actually that craven to pretend thats not what you meant?

Pointless Celebrities (an established hit) was getting about 5m leading in to Strictly, which was getting 10m. Why Reflex should be expected to get 5 or 6m for episode 1, I've no idea.

It get might nearly 5m though. I hope it does. For what it was, it was decent teatime entertainment and with nurturing, could do well for BBC1 for a couple of years.

Silent Witness did well while Celebrity Big Brother didn't disgrace itself. Piers Morgan recorded an awful figure for a second week in a row (it wouldn't look out of place on Flopzone Tuesday) and ITV should be looking to do better out of a Coronation Street lead in. Kangaroo Dundee and Italy Unpacked could have done better out of Mastermind. 8 Out of 10 Cats' figure looks decent.

As for tonight, BBC One should easily win it and dominate the night completely; anything but would be a shocker.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I reckon #TheVoiceUK is the best it's ever been this year. Ricky and Kylie A+. Emma and Marvin - Ace.

On another note, some nice Gavin and Stacey cross promotion just now on it too.”

I loved it, I got to say. Hoping it does well. Had me laughing, particularly Will on drums and that Sally's impressions of Gavin and Stacey. The whole feel is just more fun to me. Some great artists seen already. Well done the BBC. I will take my comments back at you not being good entertainers, though barring this show for me you aren't very good. Voice will hit Splash! hard. 2.9m for Splash I think tonight. Reflex was awful as predicted. Shane Ritchie gets on my nerves and slow-mo effects I didn't like.
