Thanks to Ratings Ron for managing to get his hands on the Fireworks rating so soon, and I hope Roscoe is still enjoying the "ratings banter" as much as he was midweek.

I like him. I wasn't expecting to, but that was due to two cases of mistaken identity. Having a friend whose two passions in life are Swansea City Football Club and Danny Dyer, I spent years assuming he was a Swansea footballer.

Then, when I found out Danny Dyer was "that bloke in all the gangster films", I got him muddled up with Jason Statham.

Now I know who Danny Dyer is.

1.94m (exc.+1) and approximately 2m inc. +1 to beat in order to be the most watched January highlights show to air on a Saturday. A record I thought might be broken last week but wasn't, but the show has hit all the right notes since then and it was a highly eventful episode tonight so might just get there.

It'll be interesting to see if we get a clash between The Voice and Takeaway this year. I know the Takeaway producers have said there'll be one but if The Voice does do well over the next few weeks I wonder if ITV might have second thoughts about it. At the very least both sides will presumably go out of their way to limit it this year.

Seems unlikely. Saturday is usually the shows weakest night and it won't help that they've scheduled it at 9:45 to avoid Take Me Out.

I think you have been incredibly optimistic with that rating prediction for The Voice!

We seem to have gone beyond simple BBC/ITV divisions to a situation where some people are determined to paint themselves as the minority in a thread dominated by bias for "the other side". It's a bit like we've been cooped up in the Big Brother house and people are starting to go nuts.”

It's exhausting, isn't it?

It is great that the number one of 2013 aired predominantly in 2014.

Saturday Night Takeaway will air at 7pm however The Voice rates. Delaying it until after the latter has finished would be ridiculous and moving big shows into the 6pm hour isn't really ITV's thing.

We saw last year though that SNT was actually preventing TVUK of achieving ~8m ratings so I think it'll be fine either way. It will be interesting to see what comes out ahead this year however considering the roles are now reversed.

Bit premature. I think if the auditions rise to 9m in the overnights, and the battle rounds hold up, there is no reason why they shouldn't recommission it. As others on here have mentioned though, there does seem to be a largely positive reaction to the season launch, so there may be a steep climb on the way.

I have to say that I really enjoyed tonight. Thank goodness Jessie J and Danny have gone. Whilst it took a while, Kylie settled in, and is a massive improvement. Ricky hit the ground running, and is bloody brilliant! Will.I.Am is grating on me less this year, and he can finally give a critique (Hallelujah!) and Sir Tom is much more relaxed and easier to watch.

Emma Willis and Marvin Humes did fantastically well on their debuts too. I really do think Emma is a great presenter, and I was throughly surprised at how good Marvin was. For his first time (ok second after his This Morning cameo), he took to it like a duck to water. Always a risk choosing him, but well done to the producers on that choice.

Overall, the show felt a lot more polished tonight. There is still room for improvement, but that was the best episode of The Voice since the very first Blind Audition episode in Series 1. I really think it is on for 8.5m, although wouldn't be surprised if it was higher. Timeshift will probably be pretty big though!

BBC One are on for a decent Saturday night. Here are my predictions;

Dynamo: Magician Impossible - 3.0m
Reflex - 4.2m
The Voice - 8.5m
Who Dares Wins - 5.0m
Casualty - 4.4m

The Voice will hit the Battle Rounds when Takeaway launches (possibly, if it starts directly after Splash!) and that has seen declines in the past. Based on that ITV may take the risk anyway.

Saying that, what HAVE they done to The Voice??? It just... works now. I think it's the panelists; Kylie and Ricky has given the show the kick it needed for me.

EDIT: Emma and Marvin are an improvement on Holly and Reggie too.

SECOND EDIT: I enjoyed Splash! as well tonight so I hope it holds up alright. I somehow doubt it will, though.

Jason Staham .v. Danny Dyer
One got lucky - the other didn't
That pretty much sums up their acting ability

Enjoyed "The Voice" but think its down to changing the presenters and judges. Kylie adds some much needed warmth to the panel and Ricky was less annoying than Danny has been on the show. Marvin was very good at bringing a bit of warmth to the presenter role and he and Emma seemed more of a right fit to the show. Didn't miss Holly or Reggie. Its a good start in the right slot on the right time of year. I hope that they can pull of the ratings and star act this time around. The fact that it was aired in darkest winter can only be a positive for the effect on the ratings, theres nothing there to get in its way.

Neither are great acting wise but as good as Stallone et all.

I would say Jason Statham v Danny Dyer
One got very lucky - the other just got lucky.

I'm going to guess 8.8million for the Voice last night and 2.0million including plus one for CBB.

I expect the voice to reasonably well over the next couple of weeks. Next week will be word of mouth that gets people in - "Oh it was much better with Kylie".

But then there comes a point where the format itself has to holds it's own. The majority of the audience is fickle and once used to Kylie then the content has to be compelling.

I admit TVUK was definatly better than last year, however the hypocracy in this thread in unreal. When XF on some come on here slating it as viewers are bored with singing shows, praising Strictly like there's no tomorrow, then The Voice turns up and they're all falling over themselves trying to praise it.

I'm going to go with 8.2m for the Voice and 3.7m for Splash inc +1.

Never seen The Voice before, watched last night and enjoyed it but it would be a bit flat without Kylie.

I can imagine Reflex flopping terribly - it may well get off to a decent start but the format is such that figures will inevitably nosedive. In my opinion, Shane Richie looks uncomfortable as a host and the show doesn't seem to know whether it wants to be slapstick (aided by Ken Bruce's awful voiceovers) or a series defined by serious physical and mental challenges. At least with Total Wipeout, it knew not to take itself seriously at all. The other irony of the format is that it celebrates quick reflexes but presents them in painfully boring slow motion. Bizarre.

One series. Then the axe. A foregone conclusion.
