Brilliant Rating for The Voice.

I think it will grow week on week.

I'm guessing next week will get over 9 Million.

It does make me laugh slightly that more than 3m people opted to watch Splash instead of The Voice.
Why? 4.5m viewers chose to watch a documentary about the weather on Friday rather than Coronation Street. Few programmes get more than 50% of the audience so there is practically always more television viewers, watching television at any given time, not watching any television programme you name, however popular it might be, than there are watching it

The great thing is that Saturday Night Takeaway doesnt launch for another 6 weeks. If the Voice grows over the next few weeks, like it has done in the two previous series, it might settle around the 9-9.5m mark. So by the time Saturday Night Takeaway launches, even if SNT dents the Voice by 1-2m, the Voice will still be rating very healthily. The BBC launching the Voice in Q1 quite far in advance of SNT was a brilliant scheduling decision. It will give the Voice lots of room to fall and still be a strong ratings levels.

I agree with xeo. I cant believe 3.4m people would want to watch Splash over anything else at the same time last night. For 90mins of watching, they got 30seconds of diving. Strange what some people endup watching.

The BBC has started 2014 with a bang. Saturdays will be the strongest they've had in Q1 since the last Millenium. On Sunday nights, they're beating Dancing on Ice already and that's without Call the Midwife in the schedules - DOI itself hugely down year on year. They won the Monday 9pm slot even though traditionally that is Itv winning territory. Tuesday 9pm slot is cleaned up. Wednesday night is the only downer due to Waterloo Road. But Silent Witness is doing a great 5m+ job on Thursday and Friday nights. Itv simply cant compete. It's hilarious they actually believed Splash could do decently against the Voice.

And what's funny is that the current series of Splash is 7 weeks long, they extended it. So 5 more long weeks to go for Itv!

The thing is Samuel ITV have't put any of their big shows out yet so its not wonder they can't compete.

Firstly, around 4m is 'decent', as you will describe BBC1's Saturday schedule once April comes around.

Secondly, do you dream about imaginary ITV board meetings in your sleep "It's hilarious they actually believed Splash could do decently against the Voice", where has this actually ever been said? The only people who have ever compared The Voice to Splash are people here and lazy tabloids who create a ratings war story purely on the fact that two channels dare to be on air at the same time.

Splash only got 3.4million viewers !

It completely bombed. This is a fantastic weekend for the BBC. The Voice launched huge, New years Live topped 2013 and now they've killed off Splash
ITV should never have bought it in the first place.
Key problem with the UK version (guessing its H&S) the injuries some of the other contestants get in other countries we would never see here. Those participants who only lean forward from the smallest board they simply don't happen in other formats of the show.

Yeah I know that, it's just from an ignorant perspective you wouldn't expect it, especially as they're of a similar genre. I obviously didn't expect it to come up with 0 viewers

It's easy to forget that there is a good 70% of viewers watching something else at any one time considering only the biggest shows are ever given the time of day.

Brilliant rating for The Voice. As expected by Splash. And apparently CBB received the highest Saturday rating on Channel 5 for the show last night.

Liam Hamilton ‏@LiamHamiltonDCD 4m
Great start for Kylie fuelled series 3 of #TheVoiceUK, 8.4m v 3.7m for ITV's #splash. #CelebrityBigBrother best prog ex-big 2 channels, 2.1m

Celebrity Big Brother averaged 2.1m.

Itv have very few big hitters compared to BBC1. A few years ago DOI would've been considered one of Itv's 5 big-hitters. Nowadays it just about scrapes 6m. Itv are going to struggle this year as they only have about 4 big shows: IAC, BGT, XF, Downton. You cant compete against BBC1 with such a small slate of 7m+ programmes.

Well done anyway to the BBC, you have made the show better and Kylie was a good choice, although apparently Will lured her to join.

ITV is stronger in Feb/March/April time where ad revenue is higher.
Yes, Will was on the verge of quitting. When he discovered the BBC were in discussions with Kylie to join, he told them if they secured Kylie he would stay. He discovered where they (Kylie and the BBC exec) were meeting and attended the meeting himself uninvited! The exec allowed Will to have time with kylie and Kylie agreed! But, the BBC had already approached Kylie prior to Will's involvement.

Birds of a Feather was the most watched programme on Thursday (apart from the soaps).

Not bad for Splash!? That is terrible for a fairly expensive live entertainment show. If you think that's not bad, by all means Itv should continue airing it against the Voice all series .
Just enjoy The Voice's success. Stay humble. Remember what happens when the Blind Auditions end?

Good rating for the Voice, but the true test will be the live shows.
I thought Splash would rate lower, but this will no doubt be its last series.

Only 3.4million viewers for Reflex. Another flop entertainment show on BBC1.

The Voice dropped to 3.9m last year as viewers turned off the live shows.
On a Friday. In June. (Just to add some context.)

The only thing I would say to that though is if a BBC show gets a decent 4m - I believe you would call it a flop.

Itv keep bringing back these old formats like Family fortunes, mr and mrs, catchphrase, Through the keyhole, Surprise surprise. Maybe they should actually try and launch some brand new formats?!

I think the battles and knockouts will be the first real test. At least there will not be a week gap in the middle of those rounds this year.
