More ratings coming right up...”
A very impressive breakdown for the Voice. I expect the ratings to grow next week and throughout the blind auditions stage as it has done in the past. They need to get the battle rounds and live shows sorted though, as the viewers could drop sharply and it could suffer the same ratings pattern as previous years.
BBC1 are having a very good start to the year, but so are ITV. Thursdays are a very strong night for them at the moment which is a nice surprise as they've been struggling on that night in the past. Dancing on Ice isn't at the height it once was, but is still doing well against strong BBC1 programmes. ITV would often collapse against strong BBC1 competition. Mr Selfridge is back next week on Sundays, it's been promoted well and I think that will be another ratings hit for them. Paul O' Grady's animal programmes have been popular just lately, and his programme will transform Tuesday nights and give them some decent figures in that Tuesday 9pm slot for once. Midsomer Murders is performing as expected, and Saturday nights are holding up. The only weak links are Piers Morgan on Friday, the Bletchley Circle underperforming on Mondays and Tuesday nights. Overall ITV are in a strong position just now, with just a couple of weak links here and there.
Splash! didn't do too badly against the Voice last night. I wouldn't say that rating is a disaster. It's held up for now. If it can stay in the high 3s for the rest of this run, then I think ITV will be satisfied with that. I can't imagine they are too worried about Splash's performance, as they have Takeaway and Britain's Got Talent waiting in the wings for Saturday nights. And I imagine ITV don't see a long term future for Splash anyway as Tom Daley will be focusing on training for the Rio Olympics in 2016.
