What about your favourite word Momentum, where you state that rating should go up across a series. You say this for all of ITV's reality shows, so why is it ok for The Voice to finish much lower than it starts?

The Voice was good but still flawed. A fresher feel and a nicely put together panel.. I don't see the excitement here yet. Again we know this round is popular and they've promo'd this series to death. Surely this good result was expected?

Nail on the head Wizzywick. The fun and lightness of The Voice last night was a breath of fresh air and that's why it worked for me. It also won over a few critics from series 1 and 2. It must be doing something right.

I must admit, I'm a little disappointed with the ratings of Reflex. For once it was a format that has potential. If it holds up around the 3.5m mark, it might have a second series. After all, for a 6pm teatime show, it isn't really expected to be a 10m viewer hit! But I did genuinely think it could get over 4m. I feel for the BBC in this respect because they really are trying to create decent LE formats. Mind you, if Break The Safe (the dullest quiz show ever to appear on British TV) can get a second series with just 3.8m viewers in peak time, then I don't see why a show with 3.4m can't at teatime.

I am sure they weren't that clever but its as if someone at the BBC said to give Splash a free run in its first series and then move TV to give it a great chance next year.
Splash is absolute gash. The Voice surely can't fail against it and having Kylie as a judge is a stroke of genius.

If you look at the combined share of both BBC1 and ITV, that is a slight drop compared to last week. For both channels combined on a Saturday night to get just 33.9% in winter, says a lot about how dire telly offerings are these days.

BBC1:
Great night for them, The Voice did brilliantly as did Who Dares Wins. Dynamo was decent too considering everyone has seen it by now!

ITV:
Wow. TMO got the highest rating of the night, quite impressive. It will certainly be back. Splash did around what I expected.

Now, the best news for me today is the fact that CBB got one of its highest ever ratings for a Saturday (2nd ever I think). I think it's the 2nd time it has broken 2m on a Saturday. It was also the highest non BBC/ITV show! Tonight it faces Sherlock and Fast Five which could be a problem though.

Rising Star is screwed now. It was going to be tough enough launching it on Sundays against the likes of Call The Midwife anyway. But with The Voice so strong, XF also continuing and then the Voice airing at the same time next year - it means Rising Star will have it very tough launching well in a crowded market place. Personally I hope BBC1 airs an episode of the Voice against its launch next year to kill it off instantly.

WDW and Casualty both up quite a lot week on week, demonstrating the ratings halo effect of the Voice on other shows after it.

And then you get articles like the one Samuel posted with Tom Jones slagging off XF, just get on with your own show! (That goes for XF judges too!)

As for other ratings last night, TMO very stable and not affected by Splashes drop. Reflex not good with less than the Dynamo repeat which did well for what it was. Ok for Ice Age and poor again for Ross, while Hostages launched with a decent figure on C4 last night.

Ridiculous bile as usual.

Reflex would kill for Splash's ratings! Not surprised as I was looking at the iPlayer chart and it wasn't even in the top 20! Nobody wanted to catch up with it!

Presumably it will launch a week before The Voice which may pose a problem.

I don't think it will be anything more than a 6-7m hit though which ITV will be reasonably pleased with.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here Samuel. There are rumours that The Voice is only on in January this year because of The World Cup and Commonwealth Games. There is no guarantee that it will be on in January next year. If BBC1's new shows don't bring home the bacon this Spring, then chances are The Voice would go back to its traditional slot. After all it is better if the BBC have a weaker January before Six Nations start (and next year there will be live FA cup matches on Saturday evenings too which will strengthen their schedules anyway), rather than have a weaker March-September which they would have without The voice.

I absolutely guarantee you wizzywick the BBC will keep the Voice in January next year. Look at how successful it was last night and how much more successful it will be over the next few weeks. I am certain BBC1 will not mess around with its scheduling next year and just leave it in Q1. Even if it means a weaker Q2/Q3, so be it. Hopefully Tumble does well enough to make a return. With Splash being cancelled soon, Tumble will be one of the only mainstream Olympic-based talent shows around so it may stand out from the crowd.

The Dynamo number is very good for that slot and Who Dares Wins benefitting from the stronger schedule. Casualty over 5m will probsbly consolidste near 6m - still some life in the old dog.

Good spot by me then on Friday. The Times was right. It was a piece about Sherlock breaking timeshift records and consolidated figures for several Christmas shows including 13.5m for the fireworks.

Glad it was ahead even including IAC's repeat putting the issue to bed. Really didn't think it would get to 13m let alone 13.524m.

I think the ratings breakdown for The Voice shows the 7pm start dragged the average down and that Reflex was a poor lead-in for it. Imagine a 7.30pm start following Pointless would have added half a million to a million to the average.

A shame BBC One didn't schedule new drama post "The Voice"

They would be mad to move it from January - not that it will stop them.

That Splash! overnight still looks about 4m too high to me!
