Not surprised about the Reflex rating. It is a cross between a budget version of Total Wipeout and The Cube but without the presenters of these shows hauling them up a bit.

So more Total Tripeout or, more appropriately (given the presenter) The Square.

The Dynamo rating was good, but he is a phenomenon people will have heard of if not seen. The only issue is how many watched out of curiosity never having seen the shows on Watch and how many mistakenly thought these were new episodes.

That's brilliant. When you take away the news, occasional sport and American imports, music shows are and have traditionally been the big draw in France. Even more so than talent and dancing contests.

I remember reading their Strictly final got six million viewers.

Superb start for The Voice. The difference between the average and the peak is huge. Can it sustain it though? Certain posters seem to be getting a bit carried away after just one week. Who knows what will happen. The Blind Auditions is always the most popular stage of the competition. Kylie is a great addition though.

Splash did as well as it could go in the face of much greater competition than its ever faced. If it can hold close to 4m for the rest of its run, ITV will probably be happy with that. TMO did fine as normal.

Seeing comments like this make's me believe it is now impossible for any type of gameshow to succeed.

I would hate to be an Entertainment producer because most people these days seem to enjoy tearing these little shows apart. It means we have a daytime show on saturday nights way to often.

I despair. I bet if The Generation Game was launched next week it would have been slated and flopped in this day and age. Blankety Blank would probably have flopped. It's surely impossible these days.

Harold was a man. Hayley is medically and legally a woman.

The storyline helped turn what you call politically correct terminology into legally correct usage as the law of the land and make those who were victims of a poorly understood medical condition and figures of fun into accepted members of society.

Corrie worked tirelessly to bring that about - as did Julie Hesmondalgh, the actress playing Hayley - who met many of these people in researching the part and was fired up to fight their cause.

Julie is, and always was, a woman, by the way. She is not transsexual. It was, thus, either great make up as you suggest - or, as I believe, superb acting from Julie. This is why Corrie viewers have taken to her, why her departure is being felt as if she is an actual friend and why she and the show will win awards for this harrowing storyline.

I wonder if ITV will consider any schedule changes...

It's been a very good week for CBB and last night tops it off as the highest winter Saturday rating, 2nd altogether on Channel 5. And it is good how they have scheduled tonight, however I don't think we will see too much of a boost tonight. Yes, Sherlock is on and people can easily watch on +1, however, what about Fast Five? Not only is it the premiere but a month after Paul Walker's death, I can imagine this as a guaranteed 3m+ for Ch4 and taking a chunk out of CBB.

Thanks for reminding me, I remember many posters telling us when it was on that ITV would be very happy with its performance (given it was the Summer) and that it would be recommissioned!

Yes, most likely the 6.6% share is wrong rather than the number (2.26m) for Man U v Swansea, I would say.

BBC Three won the battle of the film repeats at 20:30 at least excluding +1, with 1.10m (4.8%) for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides compared with ITV2's 973.5k (4.3%) for Tomorrow Never Dies.

Decent for BBC Four's The Bridge: 946k (4.0%) and 825k (4.0%) for the double bill.

I agree. It is disheartening that every thing new is compared to something else or is labelled as awful as soon as the opening titles appear. I have seen The Cube (which itself could easily be classed as a dull, long winded version of The Crystal Maze) and Reflex is not The Cube nor is it Total Wipeout in exactly the same way as Bob's Full House isn't Blankety Blank. Nobody wants to be simply entertained these days. Everything is analysed, criticised, compared with and ultimately ripped to shreds before it's given a chance.

The sad fact is, is that IF the BBC do decide to bring back The Generation Game in the next year or so, then the Gen Game itself will be ripped to shreds and declared it's a copy of Cowells inspired version of the same format! It will be slaughtered before it's even arrived on screen. What did people honestly expect from Reflex? I think I have said why it worked for me. But for all those slating it, what was it that made it so awful a viewing experience?

YFSF did well I thought in the summer. I'm surprised they gave up so soon, BBC One would kill for a show like that.

Had it been a pre-recorded show it would have been. The numbers weren't bad at all for a Summer show, but clearly the cost of doing a weekly live show outweighed the OK numbers. Not sure what they'll replace it with.

Not sure I agree, as 2.26m over three hours would mean a peak of over 3m, which is highly unlikely. I think 1.26m (6.6%) might be more accurate.

That would be a bit much back to back at the same time, especially when The Farm is essentially Big Brother on a Farm. I think when BB is on C5 has to be C5 before 10pm, then BB land from 10pm). That is when their schedule is at it's strongest - when they try and put shows which are more BB than C5 around BB they just flop.


5USA is a weird one - CSI has obviously helped keep it going over the years but it isn't what it should be when it comes to new shows, and they've had some fairly high profile and critically acclaimed US shows exclusive to them (or at worst, second run rights after usually FX/FOX) over the years, but none have really stuck. How they let Breaking Bad slip through their fingers is, in hindsight at least, completely baffling.

Well, the BBC did have a half decent show in a similar style called "Just The Two of Us". It wasn't a bad show at all. They scheduled it strangely though.

It's the same for Comedy, thats why we are so thin on the ground.

Our main channels are being reduced to Drama, Drama, Factual filler, soap, soap, Reality series, Soap, Drama, Factual filler, Daytime quizes ,oh! and News.

Comedy entertainment and overall variety, Pah! it's yesterday's TV.

Look at it this way, TV is proven to fall after blind auditions so ITV will be hoping it falls a little again. Providing Splash with more viewing potential. Though at the rate of decrease so far, you'd think they may want to move things about it as you said but I personally wouldn't run with your schedule. For starters, The Chase's weekend version has seen a recent slump and Splash and Take Me Out are far more compatible as a pair. Starting Splash earlier like you said would help though.

Yes. A celebrity would team up with a pro-singer and compete for viewer votes.

They should just bring it back for Spring Saturday nights. It was very watchable. But as you say, it was stripped across a whole week instead of Saturday nights.

Sons of Anarchy does well with some episodes getting up to 400,000 viewers.

But I would like to see 5USA strengthened in the next year or two and its programme budget increased. It's not as good a channel today as I hoped it would turn out to be when it launched in 2006. They could do more with it I feel.

It doesn't help that CSI which is a bedrock of the schedule is getting repeated more often on Sky Living than ever before. And NCIS has now turned up on Universal Channel as well as Fox. Indeed, there was a point on Sunday afternoons recently where 5USA, Universal and Fox were all showing episodes of NCIS simultaneously, which, as much as I love NCIS, is absolutely ridiculous.

I am Presuming Let's Get Ready To Tumble(Quirky name, I quite like it because I have a silly sense of humor)is going to be this type of show.

I seriously don't know how it will go, it's sad because it sounds like a big effort and it will probably do worse than a repeat of Pointless celebrities.

You could be right, but whereas 2.26m seems high, 1.26m seems quite low to me for that particular broadcast.

Why ? United needed to put a few bad performances behind them I suppose, but it was only Swansea at home and for all the possession they had the away team didn't do much with it.

It's hard to get massive ratings for those Saturday 5.30pm games, as ESPN found out.
