My football knowledge is admittedly scant, but I thought Man U's loss to Swansea in the FA Cup last Sunday would have drummed up a lot of interest in this fixture. The slot isn't great, as you say.

Of course Swansea had already beaten Man Utd within the past week.

Splash must have issues similar to Dancing on Ice with quite high costs involved in producing the show.

Also on Ronant's potential schedule; The Chase probably fits the three quite well I should think. But the issue for ITV is always going to be The Voice can bring in the younger viewer. They are going to take a hit and they quite simply have to accept that.

I think The Voice will hold up better in the Lives as well; the show is getting the attention it failed to be given last year after the troublesome first series.

Splash...uhm...well it has judges and they...sort of don't do anything

End of the day The Voice got away with bringing a kid on set to meet everyone and there was not cynicism which is nice; just a kid being a kid.

I think like usual The Voice will gain viewers during the auditions; truth is people just enjoy the show in these stages; not too invested but its good fun and nice.

A worry for ITV must be the growth The Voice has throughout. The average hides a really large tail that must hit them during ad breaks especially. I don't think The Voice is easy to schedule against.


Take Me Out I would actually want against it. Solid performer for ITV, not huge ratings but it can be relied on to take in 4M. ITV needs a reliable if dull schedule; The Voice launch is very very similar to the series one launch - that could cause them pain over the next few months.

Lottery's and Casualties performance makes me wonder if they might try Atlantis Series 2 in there next year. But really no idea what will happen with all that stuff.

Just realised ITV2 are not doing a series of Take Me Out - The Gossip this time round. I wonder why not? Did it rate that poorly?

the voice has a big problem after the chairs turn how this will be overcome we wait to see especially as some of this will be up against saturday night takeaway stronger ratings than splas which didnt do too badly last night btw. splash also has a repeat now so that will add a few more 000,000 or millions to it surely. the same might be sayable about the voice repeat on bbc 3 but its on bbc 3 so probably not and reflex seems to be the turkey in the winter schedule this year - why is there always a turkey on a winter bbc 1 evening. dynamo did well for a show with no publicity .the winter has now started let battle really commence.

Good ratings for the Voice, and good fair comments from many about this including from many non Voice fans.

One suggestion I would make for the Voice is to have a number of spin offs shows on say BBC 3 in the same vein of It Takes Two, more especially towards the end of the series. The reason being with not that many live shows it would improve voter recognition with the finalists.

have either of the winners of the voice had a number 1 yet thewinners of cowell's shows do frequently ratings arent everything and the voice is fun tv no to be taken seriously unlike the voice which is entertainment thats hard to watch.

This is not unique but it is getting worse. It can become a bit cyclical, taking Eastenders as an example, of a circular argument.

If it has a bad rating, person A will give reasons/excuses, person B will criticise person A for making excuses. Then Person A will go on about it more, and person B will retaliate etc.

However if both sides toned it down a bit, the thread would me more enjoyable, as to whose fault the argument was in the first place, quite often it is chicken and egg.

At the end of the day, these are only Television ratings we are talking about, they are far more important things out there. I know we can all be a bit anal, and a bit of banter is needed, but lets keep/make it a fun thread.

splash fun for all the family, the voice not so

I wouldn't say either are fun for ALL the family. Kids are unlikely to find celebs diving into swimming pools that thrilling, whilst a lot of older people are unlikely to find singers thrilling on The Voice. It's all a matter of preference though at the end of the day.

One thing is for sure, Splash is dying a death this series. If it was that fun so many families wouldn't have tuned out.

do families actually watch tv on a sturday night if not then splash doesnt do well if they do then splash does well i watch both so just interested using my understand as to what both shows do - splas is strictly come diving the voice is the x factor with chairs that spin simply put.

Last series was OK with Jo Brand scaring everyone in her swimsuit. This season, TOWIE no marks are appearing and I switched off after ten minutes. I think it will fall to 3 million and go.
Splash was good for one series as a bit of a jokey cash in on the Olympics, but I think it will go after this series as it won't compete well against TV.

We could do with longer to get behind the contestants on "The Voice" doesn't seem long enough to get to know them in four weeks and choose a finalist.

Great start for the Voice and I thought the show was much improved. Kylie (like her sister) is a natural for talent shows, she added a touch of class and glamour that was badly lacking from the previous panel. I also thought Ricky was good in a chilled out role.

the new presenters didn't have a lot to do, so jury is out on them, but the talent was good and everything seemed a lot slicker, like they seemed to have the audience closer the stage and standing up compared to the more staid audience of previous years.

the early start date also helped it too, there is little to do in cold miserable January so many will have stayed in instead of going out, with the weather predicted to turn colder over the next week this could mean an even higher rating next Saturday.

Out of interest how many lives shows are there for the Voice this year?

Next week's heat consists of model Danielle Lloyd who was disgraced on CBB when it was on C4, the bloke who won other ITV flop Show Me the Funny, a Tory MP I hadn't even heard of and someone from TOWIE I hadn't heard of. Paul Young completes a very weak looking lineup. I could honestly see it sinking further next week and that will surely be that from a recommission point-of-view.

CBB is holding up really really well over the weekends, Ch5 must be very happy.
Emma Willis is really the big star of the ratings atm; I really like her, she knows how to talk to people and is a very good interviewer; makes a change from many presenters who think they can present but can't have an interesting discussion to save themselves.


The Voice has BBC iPlayer and will timeshift better than Splash. BBC and ITV have equal turkey's in LE; Reflex is just the BBC having something they recorded and need to show and trying to find the least embarrassing place for it. Its a shame Dynamo is not a longer series; it would have swapped with Reflex otherwise but it makes sense trying to create an audience for the show your having to show for longer.

Least its not got an animatronic puppet; though Shane Richie can make you wonder at times.


I can't see Who after Strictly honestly, Strictly gets hit in the early slots and Who can timeshift across the evening anyway.

I still think theres room for Atlantis (Casualty can move wherever tbh) in this but it makes more sense after The Voice. It also might help the show become an actual, you know - family drama; which its failing to right now.

Some of these decisions interestingly enough may come down to the BBC execs internal view on the quality changes in series 2. Doctor Who should have probably moved to January time years ago, but they can't have another 'off' year so they kind of have to go with Strictly. Will the BBC have planned Atlantis with The Voice? Am not sure, but it will have to improve to hold up well there, end of the day it seems a quiz show is doing well there - so theres an argument to keep it where it is.

I'll make a prediction as well; Doctor Who will be available on iPlayer earlier in the Saturday. But thats another discussion I suspect. The BBC is going to go through a transition over the next wee while and these threads will be increasingly struggling between Live and Overnights; we all know the usual story, comments over overnights then surprise over finals

The Voice/Atlantis would be interesting just to see how Atlantis demos change; theres really no point in a family drama after Strictly when they've all not gone to families but to an older audience really.
