There's no way this is as on the fly as they're suggesting. I just don't see how that would be logistically possible. I wonder how they would have played this if the series weren't doing so well?

Schedules for week ending January 24 were only confirmed last Wednesday, so they had overnight ratings in for the first 5 episodes when they issued the press listings that suggested the final would be on January 24. That said, it was the overnights that came through the following day that were arguably the most impressive.

I'm sure the celebs won't mind being associated with a series so popular it had to be "extended" due to demand. Presumably the four days will come out of BB or CBB in the summer.

I find the CBB extension quite bizzare. Surely, it can't be a random decision based on higher ratings because I thought it was quite close to impossible to randomly decide to extend a series in the middle of it?

I imagine BB will be a tad shorter, I imagine they schedule it around the World Cup to avoid full on clashes so no 9pm episodes apart from Friday and Saturdays until July,

With tougher competition it will be virtually impossible for Death In Paradise to top thew 6.9m for last year's opening episode.

Confirmed by the Radio Times...

Friday 24th January:
22/26. Emma Willis gives bad news to another housemate, or possibly even two, who has not made it through to next Tuesday's final - although they will get the chance to spill the beans on their fellow contestants after three weeks of being locked up with them. There'll also be the usual round-up of yesterday's action.

Saturday 25th January:
23/26. CBB's appearance in the schedule may come as a surprise, given that the final was originally billed last Friday. However, producers have decided to extend the series to this Tuesday, giving fans an extra four days of fly-on-the-wall action. So settle back for highlights of yesterday's goings-on, including reaction to another eviction. Whether one or two housemates were chucked out remains to be seen.

Sunday 26th January:
24/26. The remaining housemates embark on their final four days, knowing only one of them can be crowned Celebrity Big Brother winner on Tuesday night. There have been several fall-outs this year - will the thought of winning see more backstabbing in these last few days?

Monday 27th January:
25/26. The last chance to catch up with the famous contestants' antics before the impending final, when the viewers' favourite housemate will be revealed. Narrated by Marcus Bentley.

Tuesday 28th January:
26/26. After three-and-a-half weeks of nominations, tasks and evictions, the nail-biting moment has finally arrived for the remaining celebrities. Emma Willis whittles them down one by one until this year's winner is known but not before presenting highlights of their last day, during which they celebrated their past 23 days in the Big Brother bungalow. Last in the series.

Great for DiP! I didn't expect it to be that high.

Very strong for DIP.

How long before The Sun reports that Beeb bosses have demanded a Christmas Day special from the writers?

Which just goes to show how difficult it is to predict anything these days. Have to say I would have agreed with you last night.

I watched some of it last night and is was slightly better than the opening episode more fast paced. But they should really have followed the masterchef formula and run the show in half hour episodes over consecutive nights to keep the momentum up.

It would've worked much better. One dragged out hour long episode just doesn't work.

I am pleasantly surprised by the rating for Death In Paradise. I have loved this show from day 1 and I'm glad it did so well. Really didn't expect it to get over 7m with so much competition!

Animal Orphans did better than most other flopzone efforts. I think these animal programmes would probably be itv's best bet for other Tuesdays because nothing else seems to stick.

Good to see EE sticking in the 7.5-8m region. Nearly bang on what it got last Tuesday as well. (Ken was interested in its performance this week compared to last year's equivalent, so it got 8.6m in 2013, so is down 0.97m and 11.3%)
