Fantastic start for Death In Paradise.

I'm really surprised The Taste never capitalised on Nigella's media storm. Not to mention C4's heavy promo campaign. That's a god awful rating. They've gone from one extreme with Benefits Street to another...

That's a very high rating for C5 at 10PM. At least twice the slot average.

The only new commission to really take advantage of CBB being around. Of the returning shows Botched Up Bodies (1.41m) has also rated a lot better than it did the last time without such support.”

WOW!

That is a hell of a rating for Channel 5 at 10pm. Higher than BBC2 and Channel 4 sometimes get in the 10pm hour too.

This is nothing like we speculated it would be.

Another comic trying to be a chat show host. Can't see this doing much business.

A fantastic start for Death in Paradise. The new lead seems to have gone down well with those who watched so it'll be interesting to see what kind of drop off, if any, we get next week and over the run as a whole. Elsewhere a bit of a mixed bag. It says something about how terrible Tuesday is for ITV that that Paul O'Grady figure looks relatively good. The Taste doing terrible business for Channel 4 and it only gets worse if you consider how much they must have spent advertising the show. Surely they can't keep it in this slot for the entire run? But by the same token I'm not sure what other options they have. Maybe a straight switch with Kitchen Nightmares at 10?

It would certainly be a shame if that were the case. I can't help but feel a chat show is something of a waste of McIntyre and nowhere near the best format for him. Plus with Graham Norton already having great success with a chat show does the BBC really need another one?

I enjoyed the Whitney Autopsy programme. An interesting watch into the final hours of her life and educational at the same time hearing what caused her death and the affects of drink and drugs on the body.

Great list.
Also the other Dramas on BBC2 etc, smaller ratings but still high for their slots...like Peaky Blinders, now in writing for second season...and The Fall.
Some of these are more experimental but getting a lot of critical attention.

Everyone wants to write for TV Drama.....Danny Boyle and Steve McQueen both signed on.

Agreed, maybe the pilot didn't work, for me it seems lazy!

The Sour Taste!

It is a scrappy format that some bright spark , yes I am.being sarcastic, had after watching The Voice. It died in America, so naturally Channel 4 looked at all of that and bought it! Good grief!

I bet they will pull it soon like they did with that Hilary Devey ratings juggernaut

A great rating for The 7.39 but we wanted it to be 7.39m didn't we?

I just can't believe they promoted it so heavily, as if they thought it was going to be the next big thing or something. It does show that their judgement is somewhat lacking. I think most of us could tell just by reading about it that it wouldn't have huge appeal - cooking contests are a saturated market and this didn't offer up anything better than what's gone before.

The only question is when, not if, it's removed from 9pm.

The average of the two episodes is, wait for it, 7.38m so it even misses out on 7.39 in terms of average!

Possibly to protect themselves if/when Graham does a Ross and leaves the Beeb. I wonder if Fincham has started waiving the chequebook again?

I think it's more likely to be a Saturday night thing, if it were to fill the Norton slot it would be just endlessly compared and the Beeb have never shown any inclination to fill the slot when Norton isn't there. Doing it on a Saturday, maybe primetime, would make it obviously different. There's probably room for more than one on BBC1.

It isn't that expensive anymore, though, surely? It would have cost a bit to build the first set and poach Adrian and Christine but now it's just plodding along. It'll be more expensive to axe it.

It's a good (if slightly distateful) show, well deserved. The promos they've aired during CBB for it have been very well made so not surprised it's converted into viewers.

A few more:

Wild Brazil 1.93 8.1
House of Fools 1.27 6.8

Weight Loss Ward 2.33 9.9
Animal Orphans 3.37 14

CBB 2.49 10.4

26% all day share for BBC1. ”

Very good. Do we have an idea of what might have caused yesterday's stumble?

ronant, could you give both ratings to three decimal places please? There's just a chance that the average will round up to 7.39m!

The programme did so badly in America that if I was at Channel 4 it would be a massive great big warning sign not to buy it. If the rating stays at this level or falls next week it will most likely be its last week at 9pm on Tuesday.
