Not too shabby for EE against GBBO

I don't think they should.
I love the show but it's got to be remembered EE runs around 4-5 mins longer per episode than it's rivals due to lack of ad breaks so it's already doing almost the equivalent in onscreen content as Corrie's 5 episodes a week.
I think BBC need another soap to take some of the heat off EE as it's alone in primetime. Eldorado anyone?
No way should BBC TWO should have gone with their top rated show against BBC One's top rated programme. I dont know what the schedulers think sometimes.
If we get another batch of five episodes a week around Easter time then I really do think we can assume the production team are being tested to see if they can cope with an increase. I do think the time is coming where EE will go five nights. Its not an if anymore in my opinion its a when. Not many shows are able to hit at least 6 million each night. I think they have always wanted EE five nights its just been a case of when the time is right.

TV is boring, that's why the low ratings.
Unless there is an overwhelming reason to watch... why bother?
Most nights the main channels have exactly the same programmes, such programming is obviously going to be very dilute.

I guess they assume everyone PVRs and they assume limited EE and GBBO cross over.
Based on last night's absolutely normal numbers for EE and GBBO perhaps they are not such idiots after all...

I agree with this and I felt another soap should have been created to compliment "EastEnders" something completely different. They should create another brand rather than exhaust "EastEnders"
Crap TV = crap ratings, The only thing I watched last night was GBBO, come 9 O' Clock there was nothing on TV

Both shows did well I suppose. Perhaps the channels dont care about the figures and maximising them. That was an.interesting article Digital Spy ran that Love Productions didn't want to take "The Great British Bake Off" to BBC One and would have been happy to stay on BBC TWO with Hadlow.

I agree. I am one of those viewers who stopped watching EE totally because it was well, crap! The most exciting storyline last year was a snake in Dots handbag. I gave up after that. But from December I started watching again, and since Christmas it's been on fire. Lyndsey Coulson's performance last night was one of believable brilliance. I do wish she had come back last night though and said to David "Yes, I've come home......but not to you!" But alas, she didn't.

They are in production with Dickensian, a soap set in Victorian times that feature characters from Dickens novels all living in the same stratosphere. The programme has not yet been given a definitive amount of episodes.

Thats why they created Eldorado and the failure of Eldorado is the reason Holby and Casualty and eventually Waterloo Road were adapted into continuing dramas rather than the the original series concept.
Get rid of WR and replace it with a twice a week continuing drama.

I wouldn't say "EastEnders" should be popping the champange corks just yet. Some scenes and characters dont work still and its a work in progress. Much more watchable though, but what about gaining a new audience for it or trying to bring back the fans who were lost amongst the Newman era.

Really? Neat concept not sure it will translate well with broad audience.
I still think they're mad not to revive Elodrado - its a great concept and it's so potent in the face os the European "invasion" cough cough and the economic "collapse" of the EU. There's so many stories to tell there.

I agree that a January relaunch of "Eldorado" would work in s completely different form. The production and stories would have to match the concept though. It probably would rate as well as "Emmerdale" and definately more than "Waterloo Road" !
