Mary's death scene. Went on too long. She got shot in the chest, but had enough time to make those little speeches?

I'm not a regular viewer of this show and never posted here as not a super fan or follow every intricacy of it but a couple of things annoyed me....
uber genius Holmes not knowing who Thatcher was..how ludicrous, the clumsy political statement it made I won't go into.... . The USB sticks each agent had to keep them safe...is patently unsafe & easily fall into enemy hands........and Mary's credibility at being a top assassin and mercenary itself not believable. The tea boy wandering in casually with a tea tray after a fire fight with guns shooting...was he hard of hearing not to have heard that going on? If Holmes followed Mary on a tracker to that place anyway, then how did he know where she would be and be there before her waiting? The shooting of Mary was ridiculous and implausible as said here before too why not both duck or fall down (& if as said earlier here if going to be in harm's way keep Watson & Mary away until it's over) and wasn't Watson an army medical doctor here yet didn't even attempt any sort of emergency aid to stop bleeding etc.... Gaping plot holes for me as not a super fan but casual viewer for a series supposed to be clever and intelligent it spoils it for me , and I've enjoyed some of the episodes before.... |

It's amazing how guilt drives behaviour: Watson's rejection of Sherl after his wife shielded him from a bullet with her own torso and validated their relationship in such glowing terms was well played.
Having said that I don't believe that Dr Watson would cheat on his wife for one moment but then this is 2017 and the series is up its own arse in its attempts to capture the contemporary zeitgeist whilst remaining true to the spirit of the original and we all know what hubby is like when a new baby comes along ,,, Let's hope that his dalliance with the woman on the bus is part of a wider 'game' being played and not just a particularly mean little end in itself. I enjoyed the pacing of last night's episode and much of the usual whimsy but ultimately felt short changed because apart from getting rid of the cheating doctor's wife it didn't really go anywhere. Hopefully the next episode will pick up the pace and shine a clearer light on where this series is going, I have a strong feeling that it isn't going to end well for anyone. |

Someone here mentioned that the body of Mary was cremated. I just watchd this on Netflix, and there was no funeral shown. Was it cut?
It showed Watson briefly walking in a graveyard, and that's it. |

Mr. Super Sleuth who misses nothing ... and Miss top notch super dooper secret agent never had a thought between them to wear a bullet proof vest !!!
p.s. Loved the Rickenbach Falls-esque fight in the swimming pool. Very clever. And the "just say Norbury to me" bit, from the Conan Doyle story. |

If it's revealed Mary's still alive down the line the collective groan will be audible from space.

See those flaws in the episode, is that because you didn't understand what was going on, or because you are too dim?
And I thought about the plot after the programme had ended, to decide what was likely and what was not. I didn't point out a flaw before there was time for it to be rectified in the episode. |

How did Mary get in the way of the bullet?
We saw it heading for SH with no Mary in the way, so presumably she made some kind of Superman 'faster than a speeding bullet' lunge. Really? Bullets do around 1700 mph; very few humans do, even if they're highly trained paramilitary types. Yet she not only got in the way, she even managed to twist her body so it hit her square on. Hmmm. |

A lot of the "gaping plot holes" are part of the plot, which only become clear either later in the episode or if you go back and read the original stories. Moffat's clever at weaving stuff in.

This show is not a patch on what it used to be.
Time for it to end. |

This won't be the last season. Cumberbatch will be tied up with Marvel and other projects for God knows how long but they'll fit in a special or maybe even another series in four or five years. The infrequent nature of the show's production schedule gives them all the leeway they want.

It has been made clear before though, that Sherlock sometimes "deletes" information he doesn't find to be of importance. He is a genius, but there are some common knowledge facts he isn't aware of. |

On the whole I enjoyed it - but I just can't get over the enormous coincidences with busts.
And the way Mary died. So, the political family just happened to be owners of one of the busts. Which is coincidentally destroyed around the same time as their sons death, in extremely unusual circumstances, involving a random car crash? And that one of these orniments happened to contain a USB key relating directly to Mary. Because, for some reason, they were producing a limited run of Margret Thatcher busts in Tbilisi, at the same time and place as the hostage situation. And the way Mary just threw herself in front of the bullet was just so stupid. I couldn't feel any emotion about her death because, I was too busy thinking "hey, what??" |

Wasn't Watson an army doctor? You'd have thought he'd be a bit more proactive than simply hug Mary as she lay dying.
