If the woman trying to kill Magnuson was a supposed ex-intelligence agent, then why did she not cover her face when she was shooting people inside a building covered with cctv ?

I also don`t like the way they shoe-horned a love-interest Irish woman into the story. Just to balance out Moriaty having an Irish accent and not upset Irish viewers.

They haven't explained how Sherlock survived and now they've left it open to speculate how Moriarty survived. When Season 4 comes how will they explain how he survived blowing his brains out infront of Sherlock and being lifeless on the roof for a good few minutes? Or will they brush it aside like Sherlock just because Moffat is awesome and can do anything he wants?

The fans don't deserve Sherlock sometimes.

Consistently the best TV of the week, just sit there, shut up and be entertained.
It's not an intelligence test or anything, just watch and enjoy something that isn't singers miming to other people's hits in the search for "stardom" for once.

Brilliant episode, funny and heartwarming. You can't say fairer than that.

Checking out now until season 4. Sherlock is better when it's actually airing rather than having 3 years of the fans misdirecting themselves and complaining that the show isn't exactly what they have in their heads based on some spurious theories.

Mental note: watch TV shows, no more discussing. It always disappoints.

I wonder if a new showrunner will have to be forced on the show for it to survive this series.”

Answer the question! Did you watch the episode?

The only saving grace is Sherlock and Moriarty have a flashback of how they both survived at the opening of season 4. That would be fantastic. But if not this is even worse than LOST when it comes to answers.”

Moriarty was being blackmailed and turned to Sherlock for help.

Sherlock set the whole double death thing up as an elaborate ruse to get Moriarty off the hook on the condition that he was given access to Moriarty's network.

Sherlock then went about destroying the network whilst Moriarty stayed in hiding until CAM was killed and the blackmail risk disappeared.

Moriarty is now safe to come out of hiding secure in the knowledge that the fact that she is really Irene Alder will not be exposed.

Damn wrong show

Alot of neglected script writers on this thread. Why are the BBC not knocking on their doors?”

Oh dear oh dear, that old chestnut that anyone who doesn't like it is a failed scriptwriter. And of course I've watched it or else I wouldn't be commenting on it and know what a pile of poo it was.

There appear to be a small, but vocal number of Doctor Who "fans" who have an irrational and personal hatred of Steven Moffat and will relentlessly criticise him for anything he does (as opposed to criticising his work, which would be the sensible and rational thing)

Because three of the most vocal critics of last weeks episode admitted they didn't actually watch it. So I'm asking an obvious question.

In my eyes the show should be focused between john and sherlock, and mary acting like a third wheel doesn't work much for me.”

The fourth wheel being their sprog. Sherlock, Watson, Mary and Sprog, the ideal nuclear family for the 21st century.

Now you know how us Who fans feel. Left to lurk in the shadows whilst Moff (in cahoots with Tumblr, I think) prances about with a dozen plot strands dressed up as 'cleverness'.

I note that for the first time in Sherlock, there's yet another "wait until the next series" cliffhanger, another infuriating Moff trait.

He's such a hack, there'll be a "just a dream" shower sequence next.

I don't know, he didn't realise that Moriarty's 'code' didn't exist. Prompting Moriarty to call him ordinary. He doesn't always get it right.

Moriaty survived as the gun he used had a flag that said Bang! Come out of the barrel no doubt.

well you said you didn't watch last week and you commented plenty on that.

I just hope Moffat has a few restraining orders out because some people are obsessed.

I have to disagree..I though for much of it that I was watching one of the tv events of the past twelve months and I've hated the last two episodes.

But the ending was weak in the extreme imo and was glossed over by bring back Moriarty.

A mad character who feels like a cross between an evil genius and Graham Norton and who actually shot himself last series in an entirely non sensical fashion.

Again with Moffatt it's jam tomorrow.

He won't answer because, like Moff ironically enough, he doesn't know.

The Moff gets away with this because he's a BBC pet. The fact is, an entire series has been and gone with no real beginning, middle or end, disappointing millions of viewers, all in the name of showing off for the American networks.

Sad that both Sherlock and Who have been prostituted by the BBC to the lowest ability most desperate hack.

That will be Bobby Holmes. I think he's due to step out of the shower in S4 episode 1.

So I guess the one with Sherlock and Moriarty kissing was the real way he did it.

Please don't make it out like all Doctor Who fans are like you. Many enjoy the show under Moffat and the vast majority of those who don't, don't seem to have as irrational and violent a hatred of the man as you do.

Excellent episode.

However, I think bringing back Moriarty is a mistake. Disliked the Moriarty char in this version of Sherlock so not really looking forward to having him back.

Kapellmeister & The Gatherer didn't like it. Doktor Dances is remaining ambiguous as to whether he watched it. The real people on Twitter are furious. Codename_47's opinion doesn't matter. All Doctor Who fans hate Moffat...

& if you did like it, you should download all episode of Call the Midwife.

Saved you all the trouble of the next few hours. Good night - see you next series! Abandon thread, positive reaction.

Or alternatively he gets away with it because he produces two of the highest rated dramas on British television that both make a fair bit of money for the BBC and so they (rightly and fairly) assume he must be doing something right?

Loved it, yes the first two series may have the edge, but this is easily the best thing on TV.

Have got to say though I've never seen Christmas in the UK looking so green and lush.

You jest, but................. that's the level we're at now. What a shame, the first series started out so promisingly.
